I'm interested in a ring mandrel but im 15 and don't even have a lathe yet but im really close with the money i have saved up... so far this is my favorite if you don't put it up for sale I might just gave to custom order it
Do you have any ideas on using the metal shavings for anything? I kind of think that it would cool to use them in a carbon fiber glow ring with some gemstones in it. But that is my personal opinion.
I know often times with Damascus steel you can use blueing to create greater contrast between the steels. I don’t know if it would work for that particular Damascus because I think you said it was all stainless instead of having one stainless and one non stainless alloy, but I’d look into it because I think it really improves the finished product
Is that ferric chloride pre-diluted? If not, you can dilute it with water to save on supplies. You may have to leave the ring in the etch a little longer, but it's worth it to use half as much acid as usual.
Absolutely gorgeous xx just one question...could you put a very thin layer of say green powder/paint on it so the silver like markings stand out more?...not sayin it aint awesome now cause it is want/need one xx just wondering if you can do that or not to that type of material xxhyaoxx
I really like the texture of the ring! But I've got one question: What would happen if you leave the Superconductor-Ring in the Acid maybe a whole month?
You should put this up for sale. I'm always interested in what you make and one day will have to ask for a custom order. But this is a ring I would buy even if it is simple, its more unique then most rings people make.
Love the acid etched rings but with all the nooks and crannies how would be the best way to clean them: are they safe in ultrasonic cleaners, chemical cleaners or is it warm water and a soft toothbrush time?
Patrick, have you ever done a coffee etch with damascus? It makes more contrast between the dark and light colors. That would be pretty neat to see on a ring!
I just wanna say, that's for selling all the individual components on your store! I want to support the channel, but I don't necessarily want to buy a ring because I want to make it myself for friends and family, and this is a great way to do both
Damn that was going to be my comment... But yeah, cool ring. Not sure it looks super comfortable though. The inside doesn't look very smooth, but it might feel much smoother than it looks.
Aluminum if you're trying to work with metal. Wood requires a different skillset to work with in my opinion. It's the next ring I'll be making but I've been working with metals since day 1. It's extremely soft so you'll be able to cut right through it without any issues and no worries of blowing your machine. If you have any questions just message me on instagram, facebook or etsy. My name is Oxu Jewelry on all of them (Oxu_jewelry for instagram)
Please put this on your site, the only other rings I've considered getting was the obsidian super conductor and the meteorite but they're a bit out of my price range. This tho, if it's gonna be on the lower end of your prices I might have to consider pre-ordering. Looks absolutely stunning.
Acid: eats into the metal enough to reveal a pattern.
Also acid: THIS PLASTIC CUP IS TOO STRONG!
Chemistry.
The wonders of chemistry.

Do you have any ideas on using the metal shavings for anything? I kind of think that it would cool to use them in a carbon fiber glow ring with some gemstones in it. But that is my personal opinion.
It looks awesome but I always have to wonder if it would feel uncomfortable wearing the rings with search pronounced surface changes.
I love this ring!
Awesome ring!!!
Wonderful video and a wonderful ring, also love the start! 👌
That is a great looking ring. I would like to see more rings made of that material
Pretty wicked looking. I love watching your work.
So beautiful!!!
Could you also put heat on it after you etch it for coloring? Or would you only do one or the other?

This is a great ring and awesome design.
Love the ring!
Beautiful ring.. Great work.. love it..
Could you make the inside more black than gray and make it more polished? (Maybe a different alloy, and a deeper etch to allow room for polishing?)
it is cool and it looks historic
Is that ferric chloride pre-diluted? If not, you can dilute it with water to save on supplies. You may have to leave the ring in the etch a little longer, but it's worth it to use half as much acid as usual.
Dude I love that ring
Do you add a finishing product on it to keep it from dulling or tarnish?
the ring is actually pretty sick
This is my favorite ring you make nice job!
Wow!! Just...AMAZING
Absolutely love it!
Absolutely gorgeous xx just one question...could you put a very thin layer of say green powder/paint on it so the silver like markings stand out more?...not sayin it aint awesome now cause it is want/need one xx just wondering if you can do that or not to that type of material xxhyaoxx

Best ring youve made ill definitely buy this
Love the acid etched rings but with all the nooks and crannies how would be the best way to clean them: are they safe in ultrasonic cleaners, chemical cleaners or is it warm water and a soft toothbrush time?
They’d be fine to clean using any of those methods.
Why dont you try putting a glow in the dark powder mixed in resin between those embossed patterns but i think it would be tricky.
Love it omg put this ring and the previous one on the site
this editing is on point xD and damn that ring is so amazing!
This was a really cool ring
Patrick, have you ever done a coffee etch with damascus? It makes more contrast between the dark and light colors. That would be pretty neat to see on a ring!
Very cool ring!
These are the rings I am subbed for
dude this thing is wicked

Definitely wood that's how I started (btw I like you're name)

a good tip with damascus only sand it to 400 grit, because it leaves a better etch gl with more rings
