Hi Ric. The Jigsaw Book by Linda Hannas, interesting to see it was released with two puzzles as i bought the same book probably 30 years ago but it was the book only! Because i bought it at a bookshop that had a table of cheap softcover books, i am wondering if maybe they were ones that had either been overprinted, or ones that had damaged puzzles and so they just took the books out and sold them separately. I have the New York City map puzzle as well but put it back in the box 5 minutes after looking for the edges, lol.
Hello Paisley! Tou have the same book!? Thats really cool, i suspect tou may be right indeed, it makes sense that they would just sell it out without the puzzles, or maybe the puzzle set was a way to sell the book after poor sales? I guess we will never know!
Wow you have the NY puzzle too! I noticed the pieces are literally crazy shapes eh?! That should be really challenging. Particularly if you dont really know the names of places in nyc. 😁 i will eventually get to solving it hopefully. 😁
Well you certainly like your map jigsaws! An amazing collection ranging from small to large. I've done some map jigsaws in the past but not to the extent of doing a large number of them. If your Clementoni 6000 piece puzzle has the number 36526 then I found a date of 22 January 2020 as when it was first available. I quite often find that very few jigsaw websites give the year when a puzzle became available. It would be so helpful if they did. Look forward to your next video.
hello PuzzlePiece! it's great to know more puzzlers enjoy maps, in their own terms :-) yep the number is 36526 indeed! thats so cool, I didn't look much at the details in that puzzle yet, need to have a really good homework done on it before I start! sop thank you for the excellent info here, one more thing learned! I often get older puzzles without any dates and sometimes I spend hrs looking through forums online with no luck, so I know what you mean..this should be mandatory! haha anyways, thanks again for coming in today, really nice to hear from you!
Hi Ric, what a great surprise to get another video from you within a few days. I am so in love with maps at the moment and i just completed the map of japan of 500 pieces. Thank you for the excellent video once again.
hello Lumpalumper, that is so nice mate! really cool to have you back for another dose of puzzles! map of Japan? that sounds really cool as well, love the idea already!
There is a good reason for the letters on the back! People do puzzles in all different situations. Say you have a break at work and want to do some puzzling. You sort all the pieces by letter and then take a letter grouping with you. That way you have a small, manageable puzzle to do. When you are done with all the sections you put them together! It's a lot less expensive than buying a bunch of mini puzzles and you get a full size one in the end! It's not just for "cheating." When i realized this was helpful for people on-the-go, I no longer got irked by the letters 😁
Hi Allison! wow it's amazing how we think or perceive the things around us in completely different ways isn't it? I never thought of it this way, having never wanted to be spoiled with letters, instead enjoying the sorting by having to decipher every piece or never have I taken my puzzles with me anywhere. but I get your point entirely! I might bring this up in a future video if you don't mind and run a few experiments! Hope it's ok with you? Thank you for the very insightful comment!
@@allisongerfin7804 thanks Allison! I surely will, I loved being challenged like that - I had no idea why they would make it so much easier for us, now it makes perfect sense.
Love the solar system puzzle, Ric, i will look it up and hope to buy it. My children have a telescope and we spend a lot of nights out in the open watching stars, the fact that you have a solar system puzzle just connects us to your videos even more. Thank you
Hello Leatrice!! Great choice, that is one exquisite puzzle isnt it!? Im very curious as to how difficult it would be given that the pieces are square!
What a lot of map puzzles. 🫣 I bought that British Isles one for my children. As I homeschool them, it was a different way to learn and was fun to do. Also, it’s part of a series. We had Europe, Australia and New Zealand one and the USA one too. I’m sure there is Ireland and Asia as well, but they are difficult to get now. I get a bit overwhelmed with map puzzles because of all the sea, but I have done a few. Recently I did Quirky Circus by Ravensburger. That was fun. I’ve got Flowers Around the World to do. Those puzzles with the letters on the back are made in China. Not sure why they do it though.

Hi Ric, Tess here. It is interesting to see how everybody has so diverse tastes. We had once a terrible experience with a map puzzle (the same antic map image you have from Clementoni). 1500 pieces of frustration. My husband and I were then quite inexperienced, which meant that the jigsaw was very difficult to work with. It also had damaged pieces, plus one was missing. I still get flashbacks. After a well composed argument, the good folks at Ravensburger agreed to send us a replacement, another antic map puzzle called World Map of Fantastic Beasts, which is great, but , it’d be a while until we open that box.
oh my! what a journey you had with the map pule! I agree with you, when I first bought a map puzzle it was 20 years ago and I had no experience with large puzzles at all so it has taken me 2 decades to do anything bigger than 2000 pieces! and I can only imagine how frustrating it must have been!! glad you came back out and hope you are now able to enjoy maps or at least consider them! they are very challenging though!

hello Nina! so cool that you love maps too! I just googled the 1969 Nat geo map! it is simple and beautiful, and I do not blame you for being a fussy map lover! totally get you. Im more of an eclectic collector, I like all sorts! but yep...my faves are the brown ancient one hehehe I also love topography maps, we use them a lot in archeology studies, and I love those too! your favourite map would possibly make a great puzzle, sometimes the simplest images can make great puzzles!

Needless to say i have completed all available maps of Aotearoa…Had not seen that little one though….one question: Where are your last videos? I seem to be missing the latest achievements. I’m sure i saw others last week.
hello mate! great to have you back for another dose of puzzles with me! glad to know you also like maps, it is very reassuring to get in touch with likeminded puzzlers like yourself too. thank you again mate! oh the videos...you know what, sometimes when a video is rushed through, which is the case of those 2 latest videos, (they are still in the playlists but not showing on the homepage) I prefer to put them aside and let them be forgotten and later I can do a revised version with a new intro, that I feel suits the video best. Thats why you cant find them. but they are still here in the playlists.
Hello Sean! That is awesome to hear! I am really tempted to solving it soon, a little scared about the square pieces though, i never solved any like that before!
Hi Puzzling_art! Great to know one more puzzler likes maps, thats really reassuring! Yep i think the 3k is going to be the next one. Already doing the filming S we speak! Did you find your 2k too difficult?
@@RicPuzzles It wasn’t difficult at all. I’ve done a few old maps and the longitudinal and latitudinal lines really help in putting it together, as well as the script. (Your magnifying glass will come in handy.) I just uploaded on my Instagram an Educa 4K map from 1375 that is very interesting.
Hello there! Yes i saw your IG, very similar to my 3K map but without the top line with the royal people in it eh!? Indeed i think if i can be very honest, larger puzzles are just a pain to sort, everything else is very much business as usual 😂 indeed like the musical notes ive done months ago, the secret is to attack the very obvious features isnt it?! like lines, circles, big text parts and then just build around them eh! Thank you so much for your insight here, really appreciated!
Oh my! I just looked it up, with 4 maps right?! Imagine completing that!? Gee i would take a whole year 😂😂 thx for the awesome suggestion by the way, never say never right?
Thats awesome Donna, maps are very pleasant to solve arent they and they make beautiful decorations too once completed! I have seen a Heyes with 6k pieces, panoramic, looks really beautiful!! Any puzzle here you really liked? Thanks for the comment!
I like all the antique map ones. And actually some of the ones i have by other brands are a bit blurry. Maybe because they are reproductions of antique engravings and they just are that way 🤔
Hello Allison, that is really nice, so i have another map lover here uh!? So cool. I know what you mean about the blurriness, it possible indeed that the original was either very small and was enlarged to suit a large puzzle, who knows eh! But we can definitely when they are a bit blurry 😂 thank you for your input, it means a lot to me to hear your feedback.
Aaaand another comment i have to leave: You were funny at 20:57 when you mention that the puzzle was obviously made in New Zealand when the packaging you show in the camera says „Made in China“ :D But nevertheless a nice puzzle.
Haha 😅 omg i didnt notice that! It certainly is weird! I must have read designed in nz but printed in china… So terribly sorry! 🤣 i will have to double check next time, it’s Chinas fault 😂

hello mate! great to have you back for another dose of puzzles with me! glad to know you also like maps, it is very reassuring to get in touch with likeminded puzzlers like yourself too. thank you again mate! oh the videos...you know what, sometimes when a video is rushed through, which is the case of those 2 latest videos, (they are still in the playlists but not showing on the homepage) I prefer to put them aside and let them be forgotten and later I can do a revised version with a new intro, that I feel suits the video best. Thats why you cant find them. but they are still here in the playlists.
And: How cool is that New York City puzzle?! I love the puzzle piece shapes! :)
Haha yea i am so looking forward to solving it! And discover all about nyc!
I received the Game of Thrones puzzle for Christmas a few years back. It was quite tte challenge, but it looks great complete!
Hello Sean! That is awesome to hear! I am really tempted to solving it soon, a little scared about the square pieces though, i never solved any like that before!
The 2000 piece puzzle was the first I did larger than 1000. It’s a great puzzle, but I look forward to seeing you complete the 3k.
I’d like to see an exclusive video of these books.
Hi HazletNJ! That is great to hear. It is definitely in the cards.
Have you seen the 18K piece Ravensburger Historical Maps puzzle? I bet you would love that one if you like big puzzles
Oh my! I just looked it up, with 4 maps right?! Imagine completing that!? Gee i would take a whole year 😂😂 thx for the awesome suggestion by the way, never say never right?
@@RicPuzzles yes and you're welcome! That's the one! You would probably need a whole series just for it 😂 it's about 9 ft x 6ft
@gabriellecourson6941 😂 yep i would need an entire room for it 😂😂
I’m loving the maps as I have recently got 2 from Heye and when I can will get some more of their maps❤❤
Hey Ric? Have you ever considered doing a Puzz 3d they were gimmicky but fun.
ohhh hello! yep...I have a collection of them coming soon - top secret but since you asked heheh :-)
25:09 Olha a Grow aí gente ❤

Aaaand another comment i have to leave: You were funny at 20:57 when you mention that the puzzle was obviously made in New Zealand when the packaging you show in the camera says „Made in China“ :D But nevertheless a nice puzzle.
Haha 😅 omg i didnt notice that! It certainly is weird! I must have read designed in nz but printed in china… So terribly sorry! 🤣 i will have to double check next time, it’s Chinas fault 😂
