Buick killed it off because they wanted an all-CUV North American lineup. The only remaining Buick "cars" still in production are in China.

The Vauxhall Insignia is just a rebadged Opel Insignia.
Vauxhall hasn't designed a vehicle since the original Viva and models since the early 80s have just been rebadge production variations of the original Opel model.

Car like characteristic with added practicality is literally why crossovers exist. Take the practical shape of a SUV but use a car platform. Boom.
But yeah if you want a wagon best buy a Subaru Outback. Best selling wagon in the entire world latest year all thanks to thr US market. I am so suprised Honda or Toyota haven't tried to make a wagon as their sedans are completely dominate here in the US. I think they are the only ones besides Subaru that could actually appeal to folks.

I own a 2018 TourX. Best GM car I have ever owned. Everywhere we take the car people ask about it and always say how they really like the way it works. It does drive very well for what it is. It truly is an "International Car". The body and assembly is German. The engine is American. And the AWD drivetrain is Japanese. So far reliability has been good. The only major issue was squeaky front suspension bushings which the dealer replaced under warranty. Glad you got to drive one. By the way, really enjoy your videos, especially when you review an oddball survivor from the 1980s or 1990s.

Wagons are so under appreciated yet so practical! Not everyone wants a crossover, SUV or full size truck. This Buick is stunning on the way it looks and AWD?? Sign me up!
I’m definitely considering getting a Buick Regal Tour X for my next car purchase as my first choice the 2022-2024 Ford Maverick XL Hybrids are too overpriced in my area.

I bought one a couple of years ago (still have it), and it’s probably been my favorite daily driver since my Bugeye WRX. It’s super practical (especially since I have two kids and Costco runs are a frequent activity), but it still has car-like driving dynamics. With new tires and a light tune from Trifecta, it’s just sporty enough to still have a little fun. Also, I kind of love the random attention it gets. You truly get to live the “is that a Buick?” meme, because most people have never heard of the TourX.

A few years ago I did my high school student internship at the opel plant in Rüsselsheim since it’s near from where I live and I was already a huge car person back then. I actually found it very interesting to see brand new Buicks there because we don’t have that brand here in Europe. They were parked there and had their protection wrap on them ready for shipping. That was that transition time when Opel went from a gm brand to what was then PSA (Peugeot etc.), I think that’s one reason why it’s not sold in the US anymore, since it was primarily an opel car and Opel/vauxhall isn’t part of gm anymore.
Btw, now Opel - just like Chrysler and fiat - is part of stellantis.

I bought a Subaru Outback instead and like it. These are rare cars and I love seeing them on the road. It's a shame the last-gen Regal didn't sell because they were attractive cars. GM was almost giving them away before they sold off Opel/Vauxhall.

Restaurant drive-thru vehicle-auto-detect identify the TourX as a mini-van :D since it's so long ... We've managed >40mpg on a 50 mile stretch going from Denver to Green Bay ... but average is around 26mpg. I can regularly get 29mpg to 31mpg ... my wife isn't as conscious of turning off the aircon, etc. For a car this big - that's not bad. Also as an Easter Egg - the 2018s had red needles in the gauge cluster - they were governed for >150mph - exceeding the stock Continental tires' speed rating ... haven't tested that out yet - on American roads, probably never will - but this little tidbit does give away the car's German heritage. It's not a car that will win drag races against a Hemi Dodge, but it's great for blasting past a row of slow moving traffic on a straight going up a mountain pass. There's something a bit early 90's about the turbo driving experience - not a whole bunch of lag, but enough to remind you of the past. It also grips like a sports sedan once you settle it into a corner and get past it's softish springs. I wish it had a way to disable the auto stop/start although this one is very well integrated ... and shift paddles would have been a nice touch since there's no sports mode (only manual shift via the shifter). I've seen that on the track, this matches the Jaguar XF 2.0 Wagon nicely - despite a 37 hp deficit - probably because of the torque map between the GM and Ford based engines.

I went from euro wagons (VW’s) to this 3 years ago and it’s brilliant and underrated. Not sure why no one else got the v6 and 9sp with 4wd combo, but it makes it fun as well economical.

Zack, I am filled with hope when I hear that a younger person understands the virtues of the wagon. The Regal TourX is a classic case of a car company not understanding their market or their clients. Just like Acura and their ill-fated TSX wagon, Buick tried to force-feed the TourX to wagon-phobic American customers while failing to offer the model to wagon-loving Canadian drivers. In a smaller way, Toyota is repeating the same mistake with their upcoming Crown Signia. Although they will offer the Signia in both countries, they have announced the USA will get the Limited and cheaper XLE grade while Canadians will only receive the more expensive version. 🤨 Speaking of Signias, I am sure astute subscribers have noted this Buick TourX was sold as an Opel Insignia in continental Europe and Vauxhall Insignia in the UK. 😁

This was perhaps the best all-around 4-door GM car sold in the last 30 years, to my eyes and mind... I test-drove it in 2018 or 2019, cross-shopped against the 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country wagon (which cost quite a bit more). The Buick beat the Volvo hands-down in terms of having climate-control buttons (vs. icons in sub-menus in the Volvo), and I like that it came with an all-metal roof (I detest glass in car roofs). But the Buick lost out on ground clearance; if Buick had made this with 8 inches of ground clearance (like you see in Volvo and Subaru wagons), I might have bought one of these ... 5.8 inches of ground clearance doesn't work for me with driveway dips, speed bumps, and off-pavement driving that I do; I'd be scraping bottom all the time.

I am frankly STUNNED! I am currently looking for a car that can take me to Ren Faires and Farmers markets so I can peddle my wares. I'm also looking for something comfortable (I have a lot of old injuries), and something that will be fun to drive. I'll be full time on the road (RV with Trailer), spending time on some of the great driving roads.
I had thought about a 1992 GMC Typhoon, as that is one of my dream cars, or a Porsche 928, also a dream car. Space in the Porsche is limited... but it's a dream car. Then I realized something... as much as I love those cars, I don't want to be "wrenching" on a car regularly, nor will I have the space to do it.
So I started looking for something newer, and have been focusing on the Kia Stinger, mostly because it is a sport back. Sadly, too many sport or luxury sedans do not have folding rear seats (or it would have been much easier), making them useless for me. I spotted the TourX on a "sleeper car" video, and instantly fell in love. I have always loved wagons, and even thought about having a second gen Ford Taurus wagon fitted with an SHO drive train.
From what I have seen, I think I will be sacrificing a bit in technology (heated/cooled seats, 360* parking, and other things the Kia offers... and warranty). There is one thing that I was originally looking for, that this will offer far better than the Kia. There seem to be considerably fewer "TourX" floating around, than the "Stinger" (of which I have only seen 2 in person). This will allow me to also frequent Car shows, with a unique vehicle. This may be the one!

I had one for a couple years and generally loved the cars but a couple things from my experience:
    1. I had ALL KINDS of oil related issues. I'm talking oil pump replacement, oil pan seal (twice), and gasket leaking oil somewhere else (I don't recall exactly)
    2. The power is well matched to the car imo but there definitely was some hesitation in the transmission
    3. With some slightly better tires than it shipped with that thing was UNSTOPPABLE in snow and did really well in ice
    4. I tried 5 different phones that support wireless charging and they all were very hit or miss if they'd work with the built in wireless charger
I don't know if I got a lemon or something but in about 3 years of ownership it spent a total of about 4 months in the shop for the various issues. Yes, partially due to a mistake of the dealer but also partially GM screwing around with parts and honoring warranty. Overall I loved the form factor and it was really nice to drive but I'm afraid with the issues I had early on, these won't hold up well.

Yes, I almost bought one. Was going for new used less than 40,000miles. I figured this car would do terrible in resale value. But it didn't because not enough of them sold. I was a bit afraid of an Opel manufactured vehicle that was no longer sold in the U.S. Figured parts could be a major issue. I ended up with a much more expensive new 2022 Subaru Forester Touring. No complaints so far with 25,000 miles. But I would still like to own a TourX if the price was right and in excellent condition. They are such cool looking and very usable utility space. Not big on GM turbos though. Or really any turbo reliability beyond 120,000 miles.

@@ltwig476 I was overall sad to let it go buuut it was the right choice and unfortunately I think some parts are going to get very expensive and/or hard to get pretty quickly. It was one of these. He didn't find it very good looking. It kinda hit me how we car lovers must be delusional or something to see the beauty of a wagon when nearly everyone else hates them lol
People went to a Buick GMC dealer and saw this and a Enclave or Envision and went for the crossovers. The sales those had compared to this make it obvious why GM killed this. It just wasnt wanted.
