I don't understand why praising bitcoin so much. It does not redistribute wealth, it works in a similar way to the gold standard (which was a terribly inequitable system) and by design it promotes the idea of money as a scarce resource. Honestly I think it is the worst (and most libertarian) of all cryptocurrencies.

@@agborie The white paper was just the intention like 15 years ago but reality today is different. If it was really decentralised, why so many exchanges? Let's not even talk about how many of those exchanges have been involved in fraud. Imagine you had a few thousand BTC cos you were early on it and now have tens of millions worth, try getting all that out in cash. And then where does that cash come from, it doesn't add value but takes from it. Dilutes the money supply that was born from actually valuable work. This is no different that the Moloch Money Magic known as fractional reserve lending, etc that the white paper intended for BTC to combat. It has been hijacked by the 1%, as usual.

For everybody, I think the only way you can really fight back is to ditch the ball-and-chain. Go back to a flip phone if you have to have mobile communications at all for any reason. The more people give it up, which I know is very hard right now, the easier it will be for others. Two-step authentication? Find someone else to do business with. Yes, it's hard.
The people who are most concerned about this, such as Diana Kordas, who has been documenting the impact of 4G and 5G on farming and the environment on the Greek island of Samos, are now boycotting mobile communications altogether, i.e., not even calling cellphone numbers. It's a growing crisis.

Bitcoin is continuing the same problem. It is not a solution. We are capable of creating more than enough stuff, and food, for every woman and man on this planet. There is much work to reach that goal. Once there, less than 10% of the population would be needed to maintain everything. It is happening as I typed this. It has been happening for quite some time.

In 1898, 60 to 70% of the workforce was dedicated to the production of food. Currently, it is less than 5%. That means the workforce today is less than half the size of 1898. Doing more with less is not limited to just food. What is the problem? Distribution. You have to take one more thing into account, the monetary system is a behavioral disorder. If aliens came by our planet and took every ounce of gold and silver, we would still have all the same problems. Since we are unwilling to educate our sons and daughters, it is hopeless. It doesn’t have to be.

In any orbiting object, the gravitational force is balanced by the centripetal force unless acted upon by an external force applied to the spacecraft (e.g. thruster, impact by an external object, breaching the atmosphere); otherwise it contravenes Newton's second law. It makes me wonder how much of Napoleoni's narrative is also BS? I do appreciate all the great work Chris Hedges does presenting his Real News videos that inform and educate, but there appears to be some holes in this one.

Really hard to manipulate the trade of Bitcoin when the ledger is public and distributed, and anyone can see the bitcoin balance of an exchange or fund, and no barrier exists to any company willing to participate in the market.
Note that our governments are doing everything they can to keep exchanges tightly controlled by Wall Street.
People can own the asset, and it is very, very hard for governments and industry to strip Bitccoin/crypto from the people who hold those assets.
The danger to Bitcoin is not corporations because they can't break cryptography. But Bitcoin and its users can be run down by the force of governments. Governments are controlled by either socialists or corporate interests. Only limiting government influences by the incentives created by Bitcoin and the whole crypto sector gives us hope.

Now, if I change my mind about the investment, how do I get my $100 back in cold hard cash - or even transfer to my regular bank account? Also I don't see it as inflation proof. They are speculative instruments denominated in sovereign currencies such as the Euro or, most commonly, the $US.While there are pure exchanges in which this speculative asset is swapped for commodities, this is not the most common form of transaction. If and when this fictitious asset is used to pay tax in a country (not El Salvador, but a country with hard currency at the moment) then we’ll know a line has been crossed.
