    Replacing galvanized/castiron . Rebuild Old faucets/valves. Sloan valve rebuilds . Tankless error codes.
    I work on the historic houses of Austin so it's pretty complicated with extra permits etc.

    Home owner here... Currently my water has been shut off by the local water dept since Aug 1. It took a month to get anyone out here to do the leak detection. If that same company did the repair, it would be another month before they had time to do the repair. They referred me to another plumbing company that might be able to do the repair in the next couple days.

    Lol, I did a 6 year tank today, the kids didn’t know how to fire it, I lit the pilot , cycled it twice to Make sure she was going to stay lit but I told the homeowner that if it does become a problem that it should be replaced due to the age, and the fact that the hot water had a tinge of yellow to it telling me that there was some rot inside the tank. Then yesterday I had a call where I was rootcutting a sewer open. These are common calls. In my area a real all the time call is copper drain pipes that rot out and need replaced.

    I aint never had to open up brick, but some places i work at they got these little tiny 4” anti freeze bibs inside the wall cause the house is on a slab. And on the other side of the way its waynes coating. Those bibs we usually use rebuild kits for instead of tearing up there walls.

    Water heaters, leaks, toilet leaks, back-ups, sewer smell
    Typical day of a plumber
    Water heater are the easiest to sell but trouble shooting modern water heaters that shows a code sucks ass. That’s when I go by the hourly rate to charge the customer while I’m talking with tech support to make sure the important expensive parts are still in warranty

    Can you explain the process of a sewer water test? They pressurize your sewer line to check it for leaks?

    • @alphaphoenix1938
      @alphaphoenix1938 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Typically, at least in my area, a ball specific for this purpose is inserted into the main sewer line and inflated to basically cause a plug and then we fill as much of the line as we can, sometimes done on multiple lines, if the water drops it most likely has a leak, after that we always sent a sewer inspection camera down the lines.

      @alphaphoenix1938 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't finish my comment lol, but you need a slope going toward the water outlet/handle end of your frost free to ensure water drains out of the frost free hydrant, if you don't water can remain inside freeze and bust the pipe inside the wall, also another good idea is to wrap, or sleeve the pipe where it's entering the house, water moving causes slight vibration and concrete foundation have a habit of grinding holes in metallic pipe

      I use a general wire at work I'm usually spot on. I like the general wire leak detector. I know there are better options out there. We have some young kids that can't or won't learn what a leak sounds like I'll admit when it's echoing through the headers it will throw you off but if you can hear it in the headers it's past that point idk why they can't comprehend that. I saw an advertisement a while back that the closer you get to the leak the higher the dail goes on a iPad was wondering if anyone know what that brand was and is it any count

    How can we be in 2022 and still have all these archaic sewer systems? Water heaters that last only 6 years, seriously? The plumbing industry sounds like a scam. No offense to the plumbers.

      It's not plumbing industry, it's manufacturing and the need to meet a consumers buy in price. 6 year $500, 9 year $800, 12 year $1200..........nobody buying long term anymore. Everything purchased by financing or credit card. There are issues WAY beyond the plumbing industry.
