【2024年花見】桜の舞う日本遺産!!ぶらり旅 第438回「滋賀県:琵琶湖第1疏水」-見頃,桜,アクセス,絶景- The Lake Biwa Canal

ふらっと出かけた場所を紹介しようと思います。
2024年4月に滋賀県大津市にある「琵琶湖第1疏水」に行きました。
水量豊かな琵琶湖から京都へと水を運ぶ「琵琶湖疏水」は、滋賀県大津市観音寺から京都府京都市伏見区堀詰町までの全長約20kmの「第１疏水」、
第１疏水の北側を全線トンネルで並行する全長約7.4kmの「第２疏水」、京都市左京区の蹴上付近から分岐し北白川に至る全長約3.3kmの「疏水分線」などから成ります。
明治期の竣工以来、今なお“現役”で活躍している人工の運河です。
京都への通船、水力発電、飲料水の供給など多様な目的で計画された、明治期の画期的な土木工事。
現在、取水口から三井寺観音堂下までの疏水両岸には桜並木が植えられており、春にはライトアップされ、夜桜が楽しめる。
2007年国の近代化産業遺産の一つに登録。
令和２（2020）年６月、「京都と大津を繋ぐ希望の水路　琵琶湖疏水～舟に乗り、歩いて触れる明治のひととき」が日本遺産に認定。

The ``Lake Biwa Canal,'' which carries water from the abundant Lake Biwa to Kyoto, is the ``First Canal,'' which has a total length of approximately 20 km from Kannonji, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture to Horizume-cho, Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture.
It consists of the "Second Canal", which runs parallel to the north side of the First Canal through a tunnel, with a total length of about 7.4 km, and the "Canal Line", which has a total length of about 3.3 km, which branches off from near Keage in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, and runs to Kitashirakawa. .
It is an artificial canal that is still in active use since its completion in the Meiji period.
Groundbreaking civil engineering works during the Meiji period were planned for a variety of purposes, including shipping to Kyoto, hydroelectric power generation, and the supply of drinking water.
Currently, cherry blossom trees are planted on both banks of the canal from the water intake to the bottom of the Miidera Kannondo Hall, and in the spring they are illuminated and you can enjoy the cherry blossoms at night.
Registered as one of the country's modern industrial heritage sites in 2007.
In June 2020, ``Lake Biwa Canal, a waterway of hope that connects Kyoto and Otsu - A moment of the Meiji era that can be experienced by riding a boat and walking'' was certified as a Japan Heritage site.
