Here's the borderline, when building a pc, don't go with apu, get a cpu, and hook a low end GPU like gt1030 instead of apu. Result: cpu generally have atleast 18 mb cache memory, while apu cap at 6(generally) Also. Amd Better.
Yes, it's a good idea to have good ram as well, also, better gpu won't hurt for vm, but, I've been using vm on Intel 3000, so, I don't think it's that important, but yes, dedicated GPU is always better than APU
Well, I kind of disagree with that. I'm not saying the GPU isn't important or that you shouldn't buy one-it's definitely going to help in tasks like fuzzing, hash cracking, directory busting, etc., where you can distribute your sub-processes across the multiple cores of a GPU, making it significantly faster. But honestly, even the 4090 isn't enough for that. Usually, companies have custom builds with two or four RTX 4090 cards, or they use cloud resources for these tasks. When it comes to using a screen, though, it's a bit of overkill to buy an dedicated GPU just for display purposes. Today's integrated graphics are powerful enough to handle up to a 4K screen. Sure, they may increase the load on the CPU, but if you're using a 1080p or 1440p single monitor with a 60-75Hz refresh rate, you don't need an external GPU for that. However, if you're running 2-3 monitors at 4K with a 144Hz refresh rate, then you definitely need a dedicated GPU. So, in the end, it depends on your overall setup. In most cases, you don't need a dedicated GPU even in 2024. You're fine with a decent Ryzen APU, like the Ryzen 5 5600G or Ryzen 7 5700G.
