For one thing, I'm really liking this new course the creative team behind Precure is taking as of recently. I liked that they've been subverting a couple of common tropes, like HSP had a blue protag instead of pink, said protag was the one from ANOTHER world instead of being from plain-old planet earth. and since they've made a habit of including male cures on the main teams, i'm very excited for the possibility of seeing more of them in the future.
however, i'm with everybody else on how cheap the toys have gotten. idk if its because of inflation or what (maybe its the same deal thats happening with Barbie dolls right now- in order for the dolls to remain the same prices they've been for decades, they're dumbing down the quality to fit the budget) but as a MG toy collector, who loved colleting precure toys because they're affordable but *really* pretty- its been a major letdown to see over and over, that nothing has changed for years. like c'mon guys, add a touch of gold metallic paints here and there, forgo the plain flat stickers made of paper for shiny rainbow foil or something. there has GOT to be a way to make these toys more appealing while staying within budget lmao. makes em look like bootlegs you'd find at the flea market ToT

I'm kinda the opposite honestly... I love this serious vibe that hirogaru sky has, and i'm not sure how to feel about wonderful precure... maybe time will change it
Yeah, sort of same. The whole sky theme felt like such a big extravagant world, but the small cute town of animals is a fun idea and all, but it feels less grand than last gen. I want to be excited about it, but I just don't feel as thrilled.
They (Wonderful Precure and Hirogaru Sky Precure) are just different I guess, and people have different preferences for what they enjoy more

I have to say, this show (Wan-derful) is still an upgrade in quality I think. I love how the characters seem more unique instead of the same old tropes that are overused. So far I am enjoying it because of how fun the characters are with their interactions with each other and their personalities, and I really like how they cure the garugaru too. It feels like stuff actually happens in the episodes and every moment can have worth and be enjoyable. I'm excited for the next episodes but not _too_ much that I can't wait

Hirogaru Sky wasn't that serious; it was mostly slice of life.
There is aa lot we still don't know about Wonderful, so I wouldn't chalk it up as "unserious" yet.

I personally prefer the "serious" seasons, so Tropical Rouge really let me down when I watched it while it was airing, especially by the end. xD
I will probably finally give Hirogaru Sky PreCure a watch to see how it's like!
Exact same! I've only completed two series (Heartcatch and Star Twinkle); I tried watching Tropical Rouge but I ended up dropping it because (among other reasons) it just wasn't going anywhere. I don't expect Wonderful to be very serious like Heartcatch or Hirogaru or anything, but I'm hoping it won't let me down like Tropical Rouge did :').
@@fuyuseetaa I watched the whole season as it was airing and Sango’s “character development” was awful imo, she should’ve became a model. I also hated the final attack in the final battle too, it was too ridiculous man, such a tonal shift (and absolute downgrade for me) from Healin’ Good which was the season prior. The finale episode after it really gave you fake-out stakes of the girls losing their powers and memories of Laura. I actually dropped Delicious Party three episodes in because I was just so upset from TroPre. xD
Wonderful does look cute, I love animals a lot and I love the concept of a puppy becoming the Lead Cure, but I feel like Hirogaru Sky would be the more ‘serious’ show, so I may watch that instead when Wonderful starts airing. If Hugtto is anything to go by, I feel like the Anniversary seasons from then on would be a given to be much more ‘serious’ seasons. I watched All Stars F a couple nights back and really loved it!

I'm very excited!!! I was iffy when the leaks first dropped but now that I've seen the full reveal... I love the designs!!! even if Lillian is not a true green queen 😂 I love the compact BUT I'm going to wait and see what Nyammy and Lillian's version is going to look like before I buy it. I'm also really liking the kiranico animal plushies!! I want them ALLL
Agreed on the Compact, honestly upset about it I can only afford one compact and ofc my two favorite have to be on different ones😭

I wouldn't consider Hirogaru to be a "very serious" season either; it was predominantly episodic. In fact, we only learned about the Undergu empire in episode 44(?). It leans more towards a slice-of-life style rather than being a season with a heavy plot or a serious tone. xD

To me HiroSky felt episodic in the way that all Precure feel episodic, but I understand what you’re saying!

right! Many Precure series are episodic, and some, like Heartcatch, have intricate plots that address deeper themes and yet have very funny episodes.
But the thing with Hirogaru was that there wasn't even a change in enemies
motivations... it was always the Underg Empire trying to kidnap Elle from episode 1 to the end... they didn't get proper power-ups, they used the same finisher from the early episodes to purify the Empress of the Underg Empire... they didn't delve much into the enemies nor their lore until the last few episodes near the end...the series tried to keep the story as basic as possible...
The room setup looks amazing!!! So cute (I gotta see a room tour STAT!!)
I have such mixed feelings on Wonderful Precure.. Overall I'm super excited because it looks stinking ADORABLE and super wholesome.. But yeah im not a fan of the cheaper looking toys.. Still, here's to hoping that this season turns out good! We can't fully tell until it comes out~

I'm a little torn on the new Wonderful designs just because I loved Soaring Sky's so much! They felt a little more individualistic and really thought out, with each of their colors reflecting the color of the sky at a different time. I do really like Nyammy and Lilian, though I wish Wonderful and Friendly didn't look quite so similar (I get why they're probably doing it, but still. I like a little more individuality!). The Tokyo Mew Mew fan in me really wishes they had real animal ears and tails lmao. But I love the colors and the shading style is very nice! Really really hoping we'll get a midseason duo out of the boys too!!!
And since Soaring Sky is ending, I'd love if you did a big season wrap up on what you thought of it! I really had a blast with this season, especially compared to Delicious Party which I ended up dropping about halfway through.

I’m so excited to participate in another year of a brand new Precure series! I’ve been watching the current and past seasons for a year now and the journey has been so incredible and comforting to me. I feel like it’ll be another season where I’ll enjoy all of the characters like I did with Hirogaru!
I’m also super happy I found your channel by chance and I’ve been loving your Utena reaction videos (I just finished not that long ago so going back and watching with you has also been nuts haha) keep up the good work!
i used to think exactly like you years ago when it comes to the "serious precure"-"silly precure" sequence (mainly during kirakira☆ and hugtto!), but now i just feel there are some seasons that don't fit in those categories, like mahou tsukai, star☆twinkle and happinesscharge, which are very bubbly seasons but still very story-driven, or even hirogaru, which is indeed more serious but they focused way more in the characters than in the lore (and i loved that!). since the series writer will be the same as hapcha and otona, my bet is that this season will have lots of plot, but will still take it with lots of comedy lol. super excited for wonderful and also for your future activities, love your content and style!! 🫶
I'm not a big fan of the Cure designs, but I can't wait for the plushies of the Kira Kira Animals to be released! I'm so happy we got a green fairy that isn't teal!

This was in my recommended a while ago! It's how I became exposed to you! Since I'm finally binging your content, I came back to watch this! Thank you for the visual references when you talked about the new designs! But since I didn't see a lot of the other pretty cure anime, I couldn't relate the visuals. If that's a consistent thing, as little pop ups that would be nice!

I can’t wait! I just got into Precure this past year and have been trying to catch up as much as I could since then by watching all the seasons in order (haven’t made it very far, only at the beginning of Happiness Charge). But this will be the first season (other than Otona) that I watch as it airs! February 4th can’t come soon enough! 🩷💜🩵💚

I typically prefer the more serious seasons, but Tropical Rouge was the silliest thing ever and it ended up in my top 3. I feel like if they want to go for the silly and fun route, they have to go all out and just have it be as ridiculous as possible, otherwise it ends up feeling half-baked.

I love Cure Wonderful, most lead cures are energetic and joyous, and so does Wonderful but kinda in a dog way not a human way ? When in human form she really feels like a dog, I don't know how to explain, and I love it so much 🥰
this year is gonna be the first time im buying precure merch because i saw the fairies they're so cute and i fell in love with the blue fawn and it's just a need having that plush

Even though I don’t have high expectations for this season, I am LIVING for these designs. The costumes and the color pallete look super fresh
I loved the designs of Wonderful from the leaks too they're so cute, they have so many aesthetics I adore! Wonderful and Nyammy are definitely my favorite designs 💖 I'm really looking forward to a season with animals as the main focus, I work in a pet store so it speaks to me a lot! 💖
(Also you're killing me with the Finale thing she was never intended to be a purple cure that's why there's so little purple on her outfit 😭😭)

Something ive heard some people talk about on the merch specifically with the Pact and Tact, is the possibility were gonna get a second Pact and Tact for Nyammy and Lillian given how the designs of the Wonderful Pact and Friendly Tact go with Wonderful and Friendy both in naming and the fact the Pact has pink and purple design aspects and the Tact has a dog details
i'm always excited for a new season! my only thing is that i don't super love cure friendy's name, but i felt the same about cure yum-yum and that eventually grew on me so we'll see
Wonderpre looks SO SILLY!!! I love how the lead is a puppy who turns into a human... And it look like it's gonna be more comedy and slice of life, just like my fav season smile precure
Tbh I kinda want Wonderful precure to be a little bit more driven than Hirogaru sky but I also agree that not every precure season needs to be plot driven and some can just be episodic. Anyways I’m still looking forward to this new season.
When you said "It's not the green of YESterday" My Yes! Precure 5 rotten brain went: *is that a pun?* 🤨 LMAO. Leaving that aside, Im also really looking forward to this season, the design are so adorable I cannot, I love Wonderful. The opening is so nice as well 😭, it's so cheerful. It's giving Mahou Tsukai a little bit with the whole violet and pink duo, so im hoping for maybe something more lighthearted with touching moments. But also Yoshimi Narita is writing this so while I know that means some good character writing, I'm also mentally preparing myself for some unhinged unpredictable moments.
Regarding the whole color debacle with Cure Lillian is definitely looks like a Milky situation where she is going to fluctuate from greener to bluer 😅.
I forgot to say, thank you as always for the video! Also the bit of the opening that goes "daisuki tomaranai, wANDAFURU PURIKYUA!" It's just stuck on my brain 😭😭🥺

I am so excited for this season. The creative team leads have previously contributed to my favorite seasons and the designs are absolutely great at standing out from the rest while still being super cute.
For how the quality will be though, I really think it depends on the higher execs at Toei. With the new pandemic affected era of precure, Ive noticed that Toei has been pushing precure to aim for a slightly younger, more preschool - early elementary school, demographic which is a change I have not been particularly enjoying. The lead writer also seems to do best when given ultra freedom with the story, even though that also usually means their seasons have had... questionable... content in retrospect.
So Im so excited and super looking forward to everything and it will be quite telling with where Toei wants to go with the series in the future
The only thing that disappoints me about this season so far is the names of the Cures. Friendy and Nyammy? lol. It should have been Friendly or Friend and Cure Nyammy should be Cure Perfect (like PURR-fect, matching with Cure WAN-derful). Also I don't think Cure Lillian's name is that great either, it's not as bad as the other two, but it feels weird having an English first name as a Cure name, they could have shortened it to Cure Lily.
Cure Friend would sound too plain, and Cure Friendly would be too much of a mouthful to Japanese kids. Cure Friendy is the perfect middle ground. The Cure Perfect pun really only works for native English speakers. Nyammy is cute sounding and easy for Japanese kids to understand. Lillian is named after the Japanese name for a knitting nancy, a tool for spinning yarn.
Maybe look stuff up before complaining that things “don’t make sense,” @s.dacosta.

The only thing I want to complain about the design is that, being an animal based prefure, the cures look too "mundane"? Idk, compare them to Kirakira degins' and they are soo much better at integrating an animal consept, it kinda feels like a downgrade?
I just hope the season's fun.
I think it’s because they’re not supposed to be animal themed. The whole gimmick of the season is the dog turning into a precure, not all of them being animals you know :)

Cure wonderful is red but with pink hair
im so excited for this season! im just a little disappointed in the quality of the items especially because they are all really cute designs! its a shame they arent doing the traditional transformation trinkets that you can collect since i find those are ALWAYS amazing but this year theres no charm thing and instead these really cheap looking plushies that dont interact with any of the items 😑
I personally feel as if cure nyammy is definitely white it's way too much white for her to be blue like her hair is literally white 😂💀
As if it wasn't enough to have another teal cure for the fandom to debate whether she's blue or green, they had to bring Nyammy for a blue vs white debate too lol.
I have to disagree with you on saying hirogarusky has a serious tone. While some episode have had darker themes it mostly still follows tropical rouge in filler episodes. More serious seasons would be seasons such as Heartcatch and go princess. I hope wonderful has a good balance of both playful and serious such as Doki Doki or Smile .
Can only speak for myself, but Hirogaru was absolutely not for me (ik some people like it, I just couldn't get into it!), so I'm very interested to see where Wonderful Precure goes. At the very least, I think the designs are absolutely adorable!

For me, I don't know if I'm being too sensitive or not, but I actually don't like the designs this year too much. Don't get me wrong, I think they're really cute and all (especially the hair, they're hair styles are all adorable!!), but they just seem kinda... basic. Like the same way Suite Precure looked basic. They don't have much induviduality besides the cut and length of their dresses. Like this season just doesn't scream "animal" to me, like how Suite didn't scream "music". I know they can't just copy Kira Kira Precure with the animal ears and all, but idk can't they at least put in something to indicate they're an animal team?? I also just can't get how Cure Lilian is supposed to be green 😭😭 Toei can't just make a undeniably green cure for once?? On another note, I love how we now have a Cure with white hair!! She looks so pretty 🤍🤍
I also really hope we get another duel transformation scene!! I love seeing dual transformations, and was kinda bummed when Hirogaru Sky didn't have that, especially when they tried emphasizing the friendship between Sky and Prism and also Wing and Butterfly. Hopefully we also get a midseason boy cure duo too!! Give Cure Wing some boy cure friends!!! Can't wait until Feb. 4 💖💖💖

ok but yes I do have some mixed feelings for wonderful. i think the character designs are SOOOO GOOD, iconic even... butttt for some reason i feel like the merch kind of flopped imo. The dolls, the plushies, they all look so off, and why is the baton/staff... That! Sorry! I had to say it. I will say the compact looks ADORABLE, fantastic compact design, but from the like, preview, of how to use it to transform via the ad for it. Idk. I'm picky abt my precure transformations, especially the compact styled ones bc I love the possibilities to it but this one. Just a button, and a little spin of your finger, idk... but i am very excited!
