Thank you for fixing the things we already have. The planet needs more of this for everyone’s sake
Said that about all the perfect empty buildings. Commerce says all new codes prevent old buildings from being updated at a fair price.
That’s the way it used to be. My parents grew up in the great depression in my dad did not like to throw anything away. He would always try to fix it and he usually could. He would find old electric skillets and toasters at yard sales and try to fix them to make them work and then give them away to people who needed them
@jimbarrett5930 smart man. I was raised to REPAIR anything and everything. We now live in a disposable society. I do NOT contribute to it one bit!
Truly we do. If more repurposed and rebuilt we wouldn't have half the trash and waste we do today.

No exactamente tenía rota esa parte. Planchas estufas, etc

I turned one of these into a vacuum pump. The oil had to be replaced with a thinner oil as there was no refrigerant thinning it out. I used Johnson's Baby oil. The pump worked really well. 😊
El ingenio siempre por delante
Absolutely you can turn those into vacuum pumps. I used one for years doing air-conditioning work myself.
They are actually better than the ones you can buy .
Add a tank and a reg you got a air compressor
Me too! I found an old semi hermetic compressor from an old refer unit. I put a washing machine motor on it with a manual relay to start it using a toggle switch and a door bell button. Best vacuum pump ever!!
Everywhere else they repair stuff. In the U.S. we just add it to the pile in our landfills.

They literally welded the thing closed so you can’t fix it. They should make everything fixable, so we wouldn’t have to throw things away constantly for such a simple fix like this. Companies are so corrupt these days just building things to make harder to fix so you just buy the next best model harder to fix.
Thats true
tell me you dont know anything about hvac without telling me you dont
its a compressor high pressure so in a way its a bomb also if it was bolt down any little leak will one could be explosive, toxic or lean to a full compressor frailer which then you might as well replace the whole thing

A hermetic compressor in the US would not be fixed for any reason every serviceman would ask you if you we're crazy and tell you it couldn't be done
It can be done there’s just no money in it. Very little definitely cheaper to buy a new one with warranty
Warranties are designed to end before a piece of equipment breaks, I just fix what I can myself and what I can't I look up for someone that did. If no one did then I try myself and if it breaks in the process I had to buy a new one anyway and now I know how to fix it
This was honestly super high quality considering what he’s got to work with. Definitely one of the best of these vids I’ve ever seen
I lived in Colombia South America for 8 years. Small appliance repair shops are everywhere. Including shops that sell every part to repair a blender, for example. The downside to this is that the people earn very little money and work on a contract basis. Contracts of one week to yearly revolving ones. When they earn more money (including repairmen) they will throw that blender away and buy another new one. Much cheaper and less hassel to by a cheap mass produced blender than to fix that blender. It happened in the US after 1975 or so hopefully it will happen to them.
I love this channel. The U.S. is a throwaway and replace society instead of repairing. I wish I had the time to repair like this. But this industry is so fast paced
I’m sick and tired of all the junk that we’re more or less stuck with. We used to be able to buy a fridge and expect it to last 50+ years, and with few repairs. My fridge, oven, and microwave all quit in less than 20 years, and that’s supposedly good.
It’s so expensive to repair or even just the parts
Who's quality of life is better? Lol trade places with them then....
@@wenyibing Right. Now I got a used fridge that’s about 40-45 years old, and I’ll bet it will last me a long time. 🙂

Durable stuff! This is so much better than to switch it for a new one, much better if we all tried to fix things first before renewing it.
Real issue is that most often than not its not worth the time and effort to fix stuff like this
well when you do this the life of the rebuild is not as good if it was new. so they cant just sell it no one would trust it seeing the cost just to replace it again if rebuild was not done right
I love the way you guys fix these kind of things over hear it would cost $200 to get that done it's not worth it over hear in Australia keep up the good work

What are you talking about? Pressurizing the system back is way easier than this.
I remember buying gasket paper from the car parts place 45 years ago, because it was quicker than waiting for an expensive gasket to be ordered from the dealer. There were rarely any nonOEM parts in stock. You could even buy cork sheet to make rocker cover gaskets.

Мегафиксики.
That’s happened to me with my house air fans… rarely damage the motor but many times the capacitors and speed sensors break down causing the fan to stop or work poorly. I’d order the parts through eBay and made the repairs myself. Replace those 6 fans will implied $1,300 but all the work only cost to me $97 (including a six pack of Artisan Beers 🍻 for the technician 😂😊). 🙌🏼👍🏼
Thankfully there are still people who repair instead of replace. I would love to get into a position where I could repair some serious amount of electronics for people.
ха-ха-ха , самоделкин , легче этот выбросить и купить новый , так как больше такое работать не будет😂😂
Was that so-called "gasket" made from a piece of vinyl? If so, you will be doing this all over again here real soon.
Exactly.
I think that's not vinyl, that's gasket material (similar to or equivalent of Bellumoid). They come in rolls, and it allows you to make any gasket you want, especially if the gasket is out of stock or no longer made. Though, to be honest, I've never seen gasket material that thick before.
Nah probably not real soon,
Down in Yemen I took my outboard to have some repairs done and the head gasket was changed with kinda same material too.
It held for a good 6 years till I replaced it when serviced it again, because why not!
It could've done 1 or 2 more years if left.
You never had to make your own gasket out of gasket material huh?
Потом покрасят и в магазин😂
I love fixing things. My electric leaf blower was failing, and it turned out the variable speed switch was going bad. Instead of spending $120 on a new one, I ordered the part ($19), watched a youtube video, and fixed it in about 40 minutes.
Same type of thing with my garage door spring (saved $200), my clothes dryer ($8 for a thermal fuse and 15 minutes, saving me hundreds), my obsolete garage door opener motor (just bought someone's good one off of ebay for $65), saving me about $350, fixed my $400 gas lawn mower that wasn't starting after sitting all winter (just cleaned the carb tube with a $3 can of carb cleaner and did the same with my expensive power washer) and on and on and on.
It's really cool and satisfying to do things like this as long as the effort doesn't cost more than the item is worth.

Everyone made their own gaskets years ago. Not everyone whacks the mounted face with a hammer though 😂😂😂
Probably why it was leaking to begin with....
Right?! Gotta ensure you have repeat customers I guess. Just like the original manufacturer did when they sealed the unit to make repairs difficult
Esse compressor irá ser usado novamente em geladeira ou freezer????

The first leather gasket failed because it's leather and replacing the leather gasket with another leather gasket is just good business

Dont ever put a pressurized nozzzle directly onto your skin like that. It could potentially create air bubbles into your body / blood vessils that causes excrutiating pain and other health problems.
Its india
Hes probably 50% air bubbles already and defying science
not pressure a vacuum he was putting the finger on the suction side note this units are not really powerful they take time to build up
Looks like a repair service that would be great having back in the US. What with many brand new fridges failing lately.
Remember kids, sometimes its not some thing major in a repair, it could be a just a bad seal.
The reason we don't rebuild this stuff in the US is because it's too expensive. We keep raising the wages of the least skilled people for no reason other than it feels good to do it and when we raise those wages the wages of the highly skilled people go up considerably more. This is why raising the minimum wage has never been a viable solution for the ever-increasing cost of living. Because when it becomes more expensive to get a cheeseburger it becomes considerably more expensive to get your car or your washer and dryer or your air conditioner fixed. In countries where there is no minimum wage fixing things that break is still cheaper than importing a whole new thing from a foreign country.
The squawking in the background at the end is gold
The solution is = piece of paper😅😅😅.. Brilliant👍👍👍
Estos trabajadores son unos verdaderos maestro reparando cosas que las botan son unos bravos de boston
My man is working with minions
I wish we could go back to doing this and make things to be able to be repaired instead of making them to break and throw away. A fridge from 5 years ago breaks and it’s trash but one from 70 years ago is still working and when it does break you can fix it… we are living in some of the saddest times where everything revolves around making as much money as possible no matter who you screw over.
With the people like this around you, nothing broken in your house.
какое экономное использование материала!!!!
Hey maybe try using the side of that leather for the gasket instead of dead center and wasting so much excess. Had you used it up to the edge you could probably make a few more gaskets outta it in the future. Just a suggestion. Good work
That is lots of practice and patience.
I would like to see the re welding process.
You my guy are doing something that actually matters.
I go with the stealing my neighbors refrigerator, also a very cost effective method 😂
Interesting. I was an appliance repair technician for a while. I repaired everything I could instead of replacing parts. Of course sometimes you just have too. But I would never, in a million years, open a compressor and replace the gasket lol.
Die gute alte Leder Dichtung 👍
Minion speech in the background killed me
In the 70s i help my father with his works & during 80s i do it alone even on bigger one, the biggest I've worked on was 50tn.cap. it was on 1980, it was a body trembling experience
The difference:
In the US...
A new refrigerator: $800.00
Cost to repair (if you can find anyone that knows how to do it): $1500.00
Take your pick.
Here in Indonesia you throw that things and buy a new compressor because technician refuse to repair🤭
It’s the same here in the U.S. and they’re called repair technicians, but should be called parts changer technicians.
@@sheild1117 its because replace the part is more easy than repairing the part,so they wont bother to be technician, easy job easy money..🤭🤭🤭
Если всё так просто сделайте феррари чтобы один в один!
I recently looked into the price of a compressor like that. I was very surprised how inexpensive they are. Unless you can fix 10/day, it’s not worth it to go down that path.
well in their case I think replacement compressor is 10 times the repair cost
Been making gaskets like that for my motorcycles for years. An old cereal box works really well.
I once made a head gasket for my inline 6 Dodge Dart, from a cereal box soaked in motor oil. It lasted for 500 miles until I got to Cabo San Lucas. Necessity,is the mother of invention.
Those old Danfoss compressors are really well made
Yhat guys are the definite solution of the Environmental Pollution problem 👏👏👏🙏🙏👍👍

Never did i ever imagine that this is how it looks internally
You really have to hand it to some people’s ingenuity!! ❤
I have cut it using simple grinder, the way he fixed it is great
Absolutely have to clean it thoroughly before you put it back together and welded because when you cut the sides with a grinder or a blade you’re going to get little flakes of metal in there that will destroy the compressor in short order
Thath was a proper fix great job !
Я думав, о малотком прокладку вибивать буде )
Glad you showed us how to reseal that case.
They are welded.
Only in Pakistan, so long as the item was manufactured, it is bound to be repaired and made even much better than the original
Ah, the video cut at the crucial moment! I wanted to see how the put together those 2 halves.
Love how you made the gasket. Me and my dad used to make are own when we worked on old motors

You need to use a pressure gauge to know the pressure, it must reach 500 psi and drops to 200 psi when you switch off the compressor.
They should build everything super simple, symmetrical, and modular.
THANK YOU FOR 😊 SAVING THE 🙏 PLANET ❤
Took me a second to realize this is the compressor
One hell of a craftsmanship 👍
As a person who made gaskets for over 30 years this man is good.
And that is how I was taught. Good job although I would say you could have gotten two out of that gasket material😂
