    I love your channel! This summer I am moving from Ottawa to Kingston, to live on a sailboat there.

      It is a beautiful area but as you can see from the view count, people generally don’t watch unless they see exotic southern locations. It is a shame because there is a lot of beauty up here. Few channels show this area, that is for sure.

    Sorry you weren't able to do the US side, lots of great little ports to visit. I grew up sailing out of Olcott, NY, and have crossed to Toronto a few times.

      We have visited a few US town on Lake Ontario in past sailing years (and filmed them) but we definitely plan to do the circumnavigation again and this time include the US side. Hopefully next summer.

    Hi , i have to take a boat back from belleville to montreal , i want to know how much did take you from kingston to belleville ? And thanks for your video ! Plenty of information

    • @Bowmans-Woods
      @Bowmans-Woods  ปีที่แล้ว

      It took about 8-9 hrs based on a 5knot average speed. Get Navionics. It will estimate the time based on what you say your average speed is.

    Because you said you like T.O, I need to share this recent story in case it helps you or anyone. Maybe a month ago if that, a Cat sailed from Caribbean to the Great Lakes. They had to go for virus testing in Toronto there so had to leave the boat at a marina. Security recommended one stayed on boat but they could not. He said they were not responsible for anything that might happen. So they left, after 5 hours they returned. They left the marina and started heading to Lake Erie to continue up. They starting having troubles and found that while gone, someone had put a wire from one battery to another causing obvious problems. Smoke had already begun and a hole was already burnt in one of the batteries. Gratefully the whole thing didn’t catch fire before it was noticed. I’ve never heard of this happening and I’m pretty shocked. Please check your batteries before departing I guess! 😱
    I heard this first hand so it’s not some ‘story’ I heard. Be careful out there everyone. 🙏🏼

      @Bowmans-Woods  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I am glad, if they have to stink like that, they they choose to live on an island and not around our boats in the harbor. Ha ha

    Sandy Cove (your first anchorage). One of our favorites in Quinte.

    • @Bowmans-Woods
      @Bowmans-Woods  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that what it is called? It was very nice. We would anchor there again. Perfect view of the sunset from there. On the way back we end up tying up to the wall for free in Belleville and went exploring. That was fun as well.

    What is the depth of Lake Ontario?

    • @Bowmans-Woods
      @Bowmans-Woods  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I recall from Navionics there are spots in the middle that are over 400' deep. That is going from memory but I saw some deep areas. Perhaps another viewer can quote the deepest spot. It is deep enough to stay cold until almost July. I know that for sure. ha ha :-)

      I was wondering as you said "if any wind at all comes up it generates a great deal of confused nasty waves". I thought shallowness might be reason?

    God help you two.You both suffer from sea sickness.What happens when you get a cat and are in the ocean.

    • @Bowmans-Woods
      @Bowmans-Woods  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Janice is usually good. As long she does not stay down below trying to focus on doing things when we first leave the dock in waves. Seasickness is an inner ear training thing and you have to stay out in the cockpit looking at the horizon until your inner ear gets use to the movement. Then you can spend more time down below. I am not worried.

      @@vxnova1Yes there are a lot of so called remedys.might work for 1 in a thousand.best way is to stand on your head so you are looking at horizon the other way round to bring you back in balance.
