Beautiful! Would you mind sharing how you weather the track ties? I did watch the hand laying video. Thanks Mario

      Thank you!
I spray painted the track in Tamiya XF-63 German Gray for the main track and XF-68 Nato Brown for the siding. Then I used acrylic paint dilluted with water and alcohol to paint the ties randomly with light, medium and dark gray and a bit of brown and tan for additional variation.
I talked about it a bit in the first video: th-cam.com/video/w12dFNDXOp4/w-d-xo.html

In the first video you mentioned disolved ballast. Would you mind expanding upon that. I installed some woodland scenics fine ballast last night and after the scenic cement dried the oversized nature of the "rocks" became more prominent. My prototype track is more dirt than actual ballast similar to the effect you have in your videos.
      Thanks so much

I'm using ballast that's made from actual rock and mix it with rock powder. Usually made from the same type of rock as the main ballast. Sometimes I use rock powder made from different minerals to create some color variation.
The stuff I use is from a german company called asoa, so it might be hard to source in north america. But from what I've read arizona rock and minerals makes a very similar type of product.
The dust in the ballast also changes the color of the ties slightly, which helps to blend everything together.

@@ModularRailroading I did get get a hold of some Arizona R & B along with some other "soils". Very nice indeed. The "rocks" are 50% smaller than woodland scenics. Their "soil" dosen't give off too much dust or pigment like grout thatI experimented with but the samples I received did seem more course than the ballast, very nice stuff though. Thanks!
