Damn, perfect pitch!!!! Love this song!!! 1968 was such an epic year in my life, Vietnam, Martin, Bobby, Olympics, Apollo circles the moon, it was busy, I miss it ….
Tony Butala (far right) has now retired from the Lettermen. He was one of the groups founding members and is related, in a roundabout way, to my wife, Sharon. We met at his mother's home in Sharon, Pa. a few years ago, and more recently at a family wedding. I asked why he was still performing after all these years. He said it wasn't the money, but the energy he gets back from the audience.
A great, great era of music! So glad I was exposed to such wonderful talents as The Lettermen, along with a whole host of other incredible performers and groups of that time. It's 'classic' music still today, as much as it was then. What a 'blessing'...forever young!
Growing up Jim and his wife Sue were friends of my parents...spent a lot of time with them and they are the sweetest, kind people. Check out Jim’s group Reunion.
OMG! I had the same one & wore that 45 out! It was the 1990s, my mom's cousin gave us a milk crate full of some good stuff. It's my song for my husband now. ❤
My son sent me a basket of flowers today. A Lettermen too! I was just so awestruck, but just continued to chat to the two that brought me this Mom’s Day gift. This really made my day and more to come.
I grew up listening to the Lettermen songs. they are my uncles and aunts favorites. Talented singers and immortal and wonderful songs from this group. love them and missed their singing on tv shows.
To Ed Reilly: Jim lost his voice and sold the Lettermen name to Tony. I left the group in 81 and about that time Jim's voice returned so he formed the group Reunion including Ric de Azevedo. Our site is at reunionthesingingroupdotcom Tony is still out there with different guys.
Looking at the beautiful ladies in your video, is it only me or was the ladies during your heyday more prettier than the ladies now? And did you partake and enjoy them like what famous men are doing now? Sorry Gary, inquiring minds need to know and I just have to ask for the rest of us. Thanks and Cheers!
Gary Pike Except Gary, the woman back in your heyday were cool and uplifting instead of Politically correct. I was born in 1962 so I missed out on the feelgood days of music and automobiles. Great video nonetheless.
my girlfriend and I saw you at old KRNT Theater in Des Moines 3 or 4 years in a row in the mid- late 60s . To this day still the concerts I remember! Saw Tony's show a few years back and got chance to talk with him afterwards. Was good but not the same as excitement as you three were in the 60's
To Groovy Reflection: All the Lettermen take the lead on different songs. On this particular hit Jim has the lead on "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and Tony has the Lead on Goin' Outa My Head.....
+Lorelei I found you here again. Wow. I think I remember you from earlier YT videos Also I remember knowing a girl with the name Lorelei some time back.
@degarmome Wow! I'd love to see a DVD released of their tv performances. Lot's of Lettermen fans would buy it. I know I'd buy two one for me and one for my Dad! Thanks for posting this one!! I watched it 10 x straight. I loved the harmonies!
29 de agosto 2013... este éxito de los 60s me traía de cabeza por una chicuela que ni me pelaba... lleva e nombre que le puse a mi hija en su recuerdo.... AREMI
Great ! Degarmome, you have outdone yourself with this version of "Going out of my Head" . The Pike bros. and Tony were always my favorite Lettermen group ! However, don't tell Phil, he'll stop sending the newer guy's. :o)
@mickyblue247Just recieved a music copyright infringement complaint thru YT which is bogus. They don't have to show proof to complain. Look at the tribute acts, they don't need copyright approval to sing or do someones music. How many Elvis's are there? These hit songs have been posted on YT with other posts for a long time. I filed a return complaint and will find out who it is. Don't worry about it, Fans have their favorites. They just don't like you saying so if it's different from theirs..
+Ed Reilly Just saw your question today but, saw them in Branson, MO, last year and they're still incredible. They'll be there again this year, catch it if you can!
The Orig.Lettermen of Jim Tony and Bob is still the best!No other Lettermen group could match the original as far as harmony(blending),melody, mellowness, softness, voice control and other aspects.Next and no more is the Lettermen group of Jim Tony and Gary!To the other groups, sorry but nothing beats the Original!
Damn, perfect pitch!!!! Love this song!!! 1968 was such an epic year in my life, Vietnam, Martin, Bobby, Olympics, Apollo circles the moon, it was busy, I miss it ….
I miss the good parts, too! I'm glad we go past most of it.
Beautiful harmonies. I love this era of music. I was a little girl then but i remember it well. I still love it. 💖

My parent’s song. I remember as a kid playing theor 45 single of it. Capitol Records I believe.
OMG! I had the same one & wore that 45 out! It was the 1990s, my mom's cousin gave us a milk crate full of some good stuff. It's my song for my husband now. ❤
Yep! Capitol! And that’s where their star on Hollywood walk of fame is, a couple blocks from the Capitol Records Building 💚
This was my father‘s first album in the 60s we had a blonde Motorola TV/record player the good old days
Brings back memories when music was music. Thanks
My son sent me a basket of flowers today. A Lettermen too! I was just so awestruck, but just continued to chat to the two that brought me this Mom’s Day gift. This really made my day and more to come.
OMG!!! To be serenaded by them, just like this would be heaven!
I listened to going out of my head over and over again in 1968 at fort Knox until I got out of the army in Jan 69.
I. think they are. the best
I was 15 and these songs were at the top of me list!!!!! G R E A T!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my favorite lettermen song!
Just great! I met Tony Butala a few years ago. He's still out there knocking em dead.
Wow. Everyone in that video is at last 75. That's why I like vintage clips. They'll be forever young.
OH how i loved those days, they where the greatest.
I love this. Great songs & vocals, fun sets, beautiful dancers. Class
The Lettermen recently started using video clips in their show and this one plays on the screen when the sing this medley.
A favorite of mine. I know all the words etc. Reminds me of many good concerts in Buffalo NY
I grew up listening to the Lettermen songs. they are my uncles and aunts favorites. Talented singers and immortal and wonderful songs from this group. love them and missed their singing on tv shows.

#JeffPiegari this is a singing group trio The Letterman
Superlative “Never My Love” which I had never heard sung by The Letterman. But all three tunes here sounded terrific.

Hi Phil, this is awsome ! You always surprise us !
Thanks so much for posting. I just love the arrangement of Never My Love.
Lettermen forever and I adore Gary here. So innocent looking. "Never My Love" in my later years was one of the songs I'd hum when annoyed. 😃
i love their beautiful friendship and talents❤❤❤
This is so cute!!!
I'd love to see a retro move to bring back some of the styles of the 60's.

Great music from a gentler time. Met my first crush then. So scared to talk to her, lol.
This may be square for a lot of people, but they had a sweet, feel good sound. Much respect.

Oh man.... hot summer nights. Southern comfort Long Island tea.. and a old boyfriend who I think about once in a while...

They defined a very short but beautiful era. Sort of like the disco era BG's.
It is difficult to focus on the guys singing with all of the beautiful women in this video.
This video reminds me of a line from "Surf City" by Jan and Dean: "Two girls for every boy."
Con la emoción de ver este video 😃 también, el tener el disco de 45 RPM... 😊😅😢
Where are they today. They were great.!!!
+Ed Reilly
Just saw your question today but, saw them in Branson, MO, last year and they're still incredible. They'll be there again this year, catch it if you can!
Wish they would come to Sarasota Fl.
They're gonna be at the Avalon theater in Niagara falls Feb 1-5
+Ed Reilly. David was presenting the Late Show, up until May 2015 :-)
+Ed Reilly It might be possible to request them at the Van Wezel. I'm sure they'd sell out.
fantastic las vegas
The very first three Lettermen were: Jim Pike, Bob Engemann and Tony Butala.
The Orig.Lettermen of Jim Tony and
Bob is still the best!No other Lettermen group could match the original as far as harmony(blending),melody, mellowness, softness, voice control and other aspects.Next and no more is the Lettermen group of Jim Tony and Gary!To the other groups, sorry but nothing beats the Original!
Nice music
never fails a sunday
@SQDLVR After listening to the announcers voice I recognize him from the Red Skelton Show, so this must have been done on his show in the late 60's.
I’ve got Johnny Mathis with those songs , nice to know who had them 1st.
....... to the 'Crooner' playlist, do not stop, do not collect two hundred dollars, do not pick up your laundry... go!
cool. thanks
