  • In this first Tutorial I'll guide you through the process to export a mesh from Blender to Unreal Engine.
    For skeletal meshes:
    Select your mesh then the armature and export as fbx. Then check selected objects(Mesh and Armature), all other settings as in the video. In the armature section uncheck "Add leaf Bones". Finally check Bake animations in case you have animations for your mesh.
    Import to UE and verify that your skeleton is selected.

    Great video, I was worried about the Ngons, but it seems that there was no problem ... this is one of my concerns in working in UE / Blender, modeling everything in quads... greetings from Brazil

      Yes, in the case of hard surfaces it's not a problem so you don't need to do a retopology for the mesh.

    I have a question: When i add a Terrain Mesh from Blender to Unreal Engine, i need to setup a collision for it, but the default terrain in UE5 has no collision. So why extern meshes need a collision in UE5?

    Thank you so much for the amazing tutorial! This was exactly what I was looking for, it was extremely helpful
    I have a few characters with complex rigs that work in conjunction with wrinkle maps.
    I’m looking to transfer them to Unreal Engine for use with motion capture.
    I need the wrinkle maps and their corresponding mask image maps, as well as topology, nodes, drivers, shape keys and UV layout to stay the same. Is there a way to transfer all of these components in Blender to Unreal Engine and have the same character and rig in Unreal?
    For instance when I open the character in Unreal Engine, will all of those components have transferred or will I need to redo them?
    Forgive my lack of knowledge in Unreal Engine, I’m not familiar with it.

    How about exporting mesh with procedural material in blender to ue5?

    • @yr3design
      @yr3design  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If your material consists of procedural texture maps, you only need to pack it and export the .fbx, then just check the create new material in the Unreal import menu and everything will be imported. But if your material in Blender has been created with the shader nodes, it cannot be imported like that, you will need bake your textures first.
      If you want to import from blender to unreal automatically you can use the “blender to unreal plug-in”.

      @@JeanMichelAZie Yes, you need to setup all your uv maps. If you don’t create lightmaps UE5 will create those automatically.

    • @mileshodge3477

      @@JeanMichelAZie If you are using Lumen then no. You dont need lightmaps and each object needs to be separate in order to be calculated correctly for shadows and distance fields etc. Import them separately but Unreal will have them all selected when you do that and thats good because you can just drop the whole scene in as it is and it will be the same accept everything separate.

    Is it possible to export camera data for ue5?

    • @yr3design
      @yr3design  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, yes it can be done. You need to export your camera with the animation data from blender on a fbx file. In Unreal you will need to create a cinematic camera actor and add it to the sequencer, then just right clic on cinematic camera in the sequencer and then select import fbx animation data to this object.
      All the best!

  • @mileshodge3477
    @mileshodge3477 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is just how to export to Unreal Engine in general because its all the same and UE5 may actually be different because the need for lightmaps goes out the window if people are using Lumen and the UV will also depend on the mesh/actor. Smart unrwap is really for the most basic of things a lot of the time

    • @yr3design
      @yr3design  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Miles, thanks for your reply. The use of lightmaps it's not completely out of the windows(at least not for now, that's why UE5 still have it). The use of Lumen depends on the type of game you are developing. Lumen is great when you want to use real time dynamic ilumination and excellent on outdoor scenes but still has some problems with indoor ilumination(maybe this will be solved for the full release).

    • @mileshodge3477
      @mileshodge3477 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yr3design I said it only goes out the window WITH Lumen. Lumen doesn't require lightmaps.

    • @yr3design
      @yr3design  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mileshodge3477 Yes, I know Lumen does not required lightmaps, because lumen does not need to bake lightmaps. But the point of the video is how to export to UE5. So this has nothing to do with if it's for Lumen or not. About the UV unwrap, this is a tutorial of exporting the model, but not about how to unwrap and backing textures. The purpose of this short videos is to bring quick awnsers for those persons who doesn't get the time to see 30 minutes tutorials for a 1 minute step.

    • @yr3design
      @yr3design  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unreal Engine creates automatically a light map for you, this step in the video is just in case you want to create your own light map.
      Thanks for comment!

    • @mileshodge3477
