Once I spent a week straight every morning finding a brown recluse in my kitchen sink trying to climb back out it was game on. I'm in middle TN and I've got a ton of trees in my yard and a thick wood line behind my home. Never seen such activity of brown recluse so I got to work immediately. Every closet, under beds all my cabinets were inspected, flashlight at night to check for corners and baseboards. Sticky traps put out and diatomaceous earth was put into the cracks of baseboards and every corner. I figured no food for the spider then decrease the hunters. I checked nightly for activity and would find them hunting for weeks. Finally after about a month it slowly stopped. I also checked around the house cleaned up any wood piles and debris. I even caught one in a glass cup to show my family as some of them had never seen one up close. That way everyone in my home can identify them properly and let me know. I am not scared of them but you can't live here. Lol the hunters became the hunted.
Hey, I just came across your channel the other day and learned the infestation I have which is a German cockroach infestation. I've learned some tricks to keep the numbers down and the glue boards really help with knowing where they are the most active. I watched your video of the house that was infested and was in utter shock knowing people literally live like that. Thanks for the tips and tricks and with your help I know I'll be rid of the pests in no time.
At 10:37 in the video I realized what I found in my laundry room was a camel cricket and not a brown release spider. I'm very happy it was not a brown recluse. Thank you Dan for catching that camel cricket and mentioning what it was!
Recluse can go for 6 months without food or water just blows my mind. Still very proud of your success. This was a great video, Informative and great product placement. When i have a spider infestation one day, I'll order some 😃 " Toby Pest Controls Strips " You look much older from when you started... but what made me feel older was when you said ,,,, " YOUR HOUSE " !.... You probably paid cash too... But you have certainly earned it. Keep it up young man, Your doing great on Subscribers.
Thank you for this video! We have what seems to he an active infestation in our new office location, which was empty for a year. Within 4 days, we caught 4 brown recluse spiders with glue boards and killed 4 more as they scurried across the floor. We didn't place any glue boards in the attic as it's likely completely infested & we'd rather leave that to the pros! We're having exterminators bomb the office, we found their webs all in the AC vents and attic, as well as the lower crawl space 😬
Heya! Fellow tech here. Been enjoying watching your vids so keep em coming. I considered doing something like this myself but I just can't bring myself to talk to a camera. Lol. Anyway everything here was spot on except one point. German roaches don't come from outside except under extreme circumstances. The outside ones that look like Germans are Asians and they fly. I did have one new start customer that got Germans from outside but her neighbors house that was infested with them burned down so they evacuated to hers. Otherwise they're a people spread pest just like bedbugs. You may know all this but figured I'd note it for other watchers like me. Enjoy your holiday!!
When I first started doing Pest Control years back, I was doin a normal quarterly and was spraying the perimeter after the inside. A bunch of the Asian roaches came running out and I was confused as to why there were so many German cockroaches outside of someone’s home because at that point I had only ever treated a couple houses with an infestation. Even now it still is funny to me how closely they resemble each other lol.
I'm lucky that we don't have brown recluse around here. Just black widows, wolf spiders, orb weavers, and daddy long legs. So mostly pretty chill spiders. There's even a daddy long leg in my mint plant, they be chilling with me
@@DanTheBugMan thanks. that was very informative. i checked the traps around mt aparttment, jus a few wolf spiders. do more vids i find them more educating and entertaining than the shorts,,,,
Everyone that I work with has me come and catch the bugs because I just take them outside. I don’t like to kill things and the girls hate bugs! Lol I wasn’t sure what a recluse looked like but I think I’ve caught a few thinking they were just brown spiders. I better be careful from now on!
2:39 wasn’t even a jump scare and yet I nearly had a heart attack when the chap touch it and it went bananas. I know I have no other talents but this explains why I have a career in the field where I am and not in the pest control business 😂
Not to be that guy but most of those you pointed out are not brown recluse. You are correct in pointing out that brown recluse always have that fiddle marking on their backs but other commonly found spiders have similar marks. A lesser known identifyer is that brown recluse will have absolutely no patterns or markings on their opistosoma (the belly/abdomen/butt). Anything that does have those markings are just house spiders, harmless. Don't worry its always best to stay cautious, even though brown recluse bites are heavily debated on their seriousness!
great video man, thank you so much for that! Sorry for commenting this late on, but I have a question: I've been finding baby brown recluses (funnily enough, it's been over a month and I'm yet to see an adult one) pretty much every day, and in very specific spots in the house - usually on the ceiling or near it. I don't have an attic and it's a cement house, so they can't possibly be coming from up there, if it makes sense. So, do I lay sticky traps up on the wall? Or do I do as in the video anyways, even though I've never seen one on the floor or near it?
Dan you know the danger of brown recluse are extremely exaggerated, and half of the gross pics you see are probably staph infections. That being said, I'd hate to have a spider infestation of ANY kind. lol Still, good informative video and clever way to catch the little guys.
exactly this. i hate videos like this. they are not found throughout the whole country. they have a specific range. yeah, spiders hitchhike… but yeah, these spiders aren’t all over the country. that’s a lie. people who live outside the range will likely never see one in their lifetime unless they go to their range or happen to see a hitch hiker. not likely.
Ty for this content i found it very informative.. again Thank you. I now know i do have them in my home but, it most likely because i leave my garage door open (☆door from garage to house) and have killed them all as they are seen crawling along the floor. I maybe will consider closing it more often at least during the winter perhaps. Door is open mainly because I can't stand walking into my garage while its hot so i cool it off with the central air.. too bad i dont know Hvac 😒 but im startung to learn Thanks to TH-cam correction Good TH-cam channels... yike sorry for the ramble. What about catching 12 brown recluses in one week? We just moved to this house. Is it moving-related maybe or is this house infested? Also I’m in Arkansas in the middle of the woods 😊
At the house we live in now, when we first moved about 10 years ago, we put glue traps down as soon as we moved here, and it would be months before we caught anything. Now it's like we catch 3-4 spiders a week depending location, in garage it definitely would be 10-20 plus if we actually put them in there sometimes more. We probably should, but we notice they are not coming inside or it's not the biggest problem yet. At our old house, I would put gluetraps down and within a couple days, there would be 10-20 plus. Every time we moved our couch or something there would be a spider or two running. I'm still paranoid by those times.

Hey Dan, I’m currently fighting a brown recluse infestation. I’ve had general pest control treatments done, and I’d like to know if catching mostly females is a good sign? I’ve caught nothing but females in the last couple of weeks, so I’m hoping it’s working? 😂
Ok, I'm freaked out. My daughter was bitten by a brown recluse spider in December.....it was a terrifying experience. How can one get rid of them if they can live through the treatment unless you get it directly on them?!
Well unlike roaches, they will always be there to some extent. Even if it's a few, as some remain stagnant and hidden for months, so even if you spray they are probably so tucked away that they won't come out and poisoned.
german roaches don’t just live outside. they’re domesticated and can only survive inside. you probably brought that home from one of your clients. it didn’t roam inside from an outside colony.
