What an incredible car! I'm always the type of person who thinks that cars are meant to be driven and enjoy, not collected but this ones got me on the fence! Absolutely love it!
Love a sprinter! Make me want to make my slant cooler. Btw the Australian market got both. No overlap as in 83 they went to slant. My car is a last year 85. 4ac powered with a t50 gearbox from factory Also don’t worry about the headlights. Every single Australian market slant has the same glass with the sprinter badge. Since Toyota australia was very lazy
I thought it wasn't that special as we got the Ae71 in Aus but when you pointed out the rear quarter it looks so much better!! Our ADM AE71's still have the ke shaped qtr and tails.
These are abundant in Puerto Rico’s car culture in 2021 I had the privilege to go and for a week and 1.8s were all around me in Paradise…keep up the great work Neil
Neil it's one of my favourite things to see someone who is incredibly knowledgeable about something just completely geek out and bring the audience with them. What a beautiful car and thanks for pointing out all the uniqueness us laymen would have missed!
Absolute BEAUTY of a car! What a piece of history. And Neil my man, you are an actual walking encyclopedia of automobile knowledge from the best of times. It's crazy to see what these corporations used to pull off for fun compared to today's standards
This thing is fukn glorious. Closest we got to this in AUS was the AE71 SPIRIT. Slant front 4 door "saloon" but same sedan body as ke70. 8v 1.6 carby 4AC motor, t50 with BW open diff. Cool rear boot spoiler and has front to rear side stripe decal and spirit badging. Very cool and sort after if you're into rwd corollas here.
The kind of video you inadvertently feel like clicking that like button more than once👌Other then the rare occasional AE86 that comes up for sale we don't have any e7x models pass through the classifieds at all. We in the Netherlands must have had them(I've only once seen a rusty one come up for sale) but they are all but gone it seems. Most commonly rusted into the ground in a similarly humid climate I take it. It wasn't before seeing them here that I ever had looked for them at all. I get the love though, simple lightweight RWD chassis' are always the golden ticket.
I agree with you that this Sprinter is incredible! I would indeed prefer it over an AE86! I find it funny you are amazed Toyota chose a different body on the E70 series for the Sprinter and Corolla 4 door sedans. Toyota had been doing this as well with the E30/E40/E50/E60 series, as well as with the E80 series and beyond. On the E80 series only the 4 door sedan differs, but with the E90 they completely change the body style as well. What we know as the 4 door sedan is the E90 Corolla sedan, while what we know as the liftback (or Cielo in Australia) is the E90 Sprinter. Toyota did similar things with other lineups at the time. Think about the insanity of having a distinct body for the Cresta/Chaser/Mark II/Cressida lineup. Or the Carina A60 and Corona T140. Or even worse: with the generation after that there was the Carina, Carina ED and the Corona. All three have a different body, body style and don't share any parts! Yes, the bubble economy was booming in the 1980s!
Its true, when you put it like that, I always thought they would reserve the styling for more expensive chassis, I find it hilarious they did this on the base models too
I absolutely love how they blew what must have been hundreds of thousands or more on an entirely new rear half of the body, and it looks exactly the same as the standard one. The kind of stuff the bubble economy does to your brain
The most beautiful E70 variant for sure! I also am a big fan of blue interiors, All of my AE86s and my 4-door TE72 were blessed with the best color inside 😂
I love this channel! And i love old school Corollas ! There will never be another era with such awesome economy cars. Thanks for sharing this i never realized how different the sprinter is. I remember the first time i seen a Corolla with that front end i thought it was so ugly but now i can see the beauty in it's uniqueness.
Think the E7 has the most different variants Toyota made, its crazy. Compare the KE70/TE7* sedan and the lift/fastbacks, they are completely different cars. Even stuff like the dash and the rest of the interior is completely different.
I've sat down a couple times to count how many E7 variations there are.... you got corollas, sprinters, wagons, vans, high roofs, coupes...... it's over 10+ trims. The wagons and vans{?} were made until '87.
Thank you for this video. It really made me appreciate some details about my car that I had thought about replacing. Notably my blue interior, which is in similar excellent condition as this one.
I can't think of any other chassis that got so many different variations. In the USA we got: 2 door sedan 4 door sedan Hard top Lift back 4 door Wagon Coupe (I think that's all of them) And then there were both AE (4A-C) and TE (3T-C) Then there's all of the other variants from all over the world. Japan also had 2 door wagons, and high top wagons among the stuff like what's in this video. The E7 chassis is hands down one of my favorites of all time.
Nice video and nicer car. We got the slant front on thr AE71 here in Australia. It's a 1.6 stock with the 4AC and my aunty's is a 5-speed manual CSX. Unfortunately I haven't started it in a while and she dinged the front quarter but I have plans for a 4AGE eventually and then leave absolutely everything else stock. Anyway, nice video and I think I have to subscribe now. Even if only to hear "savage" more often in my life.
Buzzy, never seen that rear before. Used to be stacks kicking around in NZ of the usual style. My dad had a van (2 door wagon). All rusted to the ground these days. Also only had slant front in NZ as far as I remember
Totally the coolest channel on here Neil boy! Absolutely love seeing a new vid popping up. It's quite sad that I can't watch them on my phone, gotta be on the TV for the full effect 😂 I'm hoping to come up to Ireland for a trip sometime this year. Would be amazing to come and meet ya and have a look round your 86. Legend bro!
(I'm not at all sure, but it's possible the back doors are like what some Corollas had in America, in overall shape. The only thing is it was common in the US for it to be required to only have the back door windows come down so far, so it might be different glass instead of two separate pieces, cause you could only roll em down so far anyway. To prevent children escaping, obviously. :) (We didn't get the Sprinter but it could be a case of mix and match in the parts bins.)
Hey niel I love KE70 corolla. Would love to see if you can make a video on how these things came to the world and how they are the father of the legendary AE86.
Hey mate, what camera setups do you use to capture these beautiful cars? Like the newer camera you invested in and the gimbal? I remember watching a vlog part way back when talking about your progress with getting more equipment, but I can't find it. Your videos are inspiring me to create a docu space for my own mates and I building our cars. Love the videos, been watching for a couple of years, reminds me of me and my mates at our own garages mucking about together. Cheers 👌🏽
"Maybe 2 years ago? 2017 ah yeah"... 2017 was 6 years ago... Like I know the video is old, but like it was at least 2x as long (4 years) when that was recorded...
Very cool.
Looks to share the same rear doors as the AE71 Wagons
Gas when Neil does the Terminator scan on wheels hahaha
"Bzzz. Kikomochi ZR3 7.25J +18"
"Jaysus Neil the car is about two kilometres away"
What an incredible car! I'm always the type of person who thinks that cars are meant to be driven and enjoy, not collected but this ones got me on the fence! Absolutely love it!

How’s your 4ac !
A delectable medley of motoring splendour, keep on pushing !!!
Ok
I thought it wasn't that special as we got the Ae71 in Aus but when you pointed out the rear quarter it looks so much better!! Our ADM AE71's still have the ke shaped qtr and tails.
A ke70 wagon is one of my dream cars, these things are absolutely beautiful
Fair play Neil , you are a neverending man of Japanese import knowledge.
This is the last RWD Corolla we got here in South Africa 🇿🇦
These are abundant in Puerto Rico’s car culture in 2021 I had the privilege to go and for a week and 1.8s were all around me in Paradise…keep up the great work Neil
Srry 1.5 Sprinter/ Corolla
@@DatScionXb Fascinating must have been all exported to Puerto Rico!
What a beauty! Take care of her.
Neil it's one of my favourite things to see someone who is incredibly knowledgeable about something just completely geek out and bring the audience with them. What a beautiful car and thanks for pointing out all the uniqueness us laymen would have missed!
Glad you enjoyed this one, its cool to see what was going on back in the eighties with Toyota
Wow that is clean I wish I had a pair of those bumpers plus the brackets for my 1982 Corolla
This is hella cool , there's alot of Corollas but few Sprinter models like these , very unique
Absolute BEAUTY of a car! What a piece of history. And Neil my man, you are an actual walking encyclopedia of automobile knowledge from the best of times. It's crazy to see what these corporations used to pull off for fun compared to today's standards
Yeah things were a lot more interesting back then
Aussie here, every KE70 Ive ever seen here has the slant headlights and Im old enough to remember when they were new
@Vertical Banana that was late 00s
I was hoping for ''RINGS LAAAADDDD'' at the end lol great car
Liam gave the perfect answer "nervous" 😅😅. She's cool as fuck tho beautiful car
i love u guys
I love u to
@@davidweld8601 I love him more
R u a homiesexual
All of you are gay. 👠👠💄💋
wow 62k on the clock that thing is basically brand new, my car is from the same era and it has nearly 400k haha
I like how he Neil gets excited about cars and can't control the volume of his voice.
So happy to KE's getting some love ❤ this is awesome

Thats fascinating, its cool to see
Man, this is so cool!. Malaysia never really got the sprinter except for the wagons too. All the saloons were either DX/Blackbelt/GL but no sprinter.
Love that front end

Damn that’s just the perfect e70, dream build even without the sprinter rear end but that just makes it even cooler
that pluspy strut brace is super cool i bet its rare as
They are definitely cool cars I use to have the coupe version many years ago
sweet fooking car man. shit looks really good
All KE70/ae71 slant faces in Australia had the S in the headlights. Think the sprinter was before all the base model slant fronts
rear doors of the sprinter sedan are shared with the E7 wagon rear doors.
Epic! Cheers for clarifying that, insane that they would even think of doing it
The most beautiful E70 variant for sure! I also am a big fan of blue interiors, All of my AE86s and my 4-door TE72 were blessed with the best color inside 😂
While living in Japan, I've only seen 1 of these Sprinters in person and it was owned by an old man. Car was completely stock, even on factory wheels!
Damn. Talk about a forever car. Ticks every box and then some. Gorgeous condition.
Its funny that i was trying to get some info on a corolla ae80 since i just bought one and boom i stumbled on this video 💯
Looks like literally every KE70 with a couple of different trim pieces TBH. Never seen someone get so excited over a slant front KE70!
We got this front here too, the fact this is a completely redesigned look is fascinating, and on top of that its a great looking car
Fender mirrors are hawt

same for e8, e9 and e10 tho. all had a million different variations of the same car
Thank you for this video. It really made me appreciate some details about my car that I had thought about replacing. Notably my blue interior, which is in similar excellent condition as this one.
KE70s are badass!!
I can't think of any other chassis that got so many different variations.

this is awesome ! absolutely love the Australian models with the brick headlights
Luckily the headlights with the sprinter in the glass is common all adm slantys have them, but that sprinter badge is holy grail stuff.
Nice video and nicer car. We got the slant front on thr AE71 here in Australia. It's a 1.6 stock with the 4AC and my aunty's is a 5-speed manual CSX. Another great video love the car. Hope you're having a sick time in Japan
Savage car, don't ever sell it mate!
Best channel on the internet cannot lie considering my love for Japanese cars😄
Beautiful
In Australia that model actually came out of the factory with a small rear spoiler
I have 2 of them and I didn't know the back was different 😅
I have an Australian Ae71 spirit. slant front 20v swapped. I never knew they did this sprinter version. Ae70 come in 2 door aswell
Buzzy, never seen that rear before. Used to be stacks kicking around in NZ of the usual style. My dad had a van (2 door wagon). All rusted to the ground these days. Also only had slant front in NZ as far as I remember
We didn't hear the engine :( .
Smashed it Neil, great video thanks again 🤌🤌
FINALLY A KE70 VIDEO!!!!
New to me. Pretty cool! I still prefer the 86 hatch w/ popups. I absolutely loved the nerding out!
Amazing car. There's that coupe in Japan, team spirant I think, other than that you don't even see them on the Internet.
I needed to hear that yoke redline 👌👌 mint car pal....
My friend has one of these in the midlands, never knew how rare they were
Such an incredible machine
