I love both glitched and glitchless speedruns of any game as long as they're fun and rewarding to execute. Learning and taking advantage of cool things the developers never intended always puts a smile on my face.
I just wanna share this here coz I'm so excited guys I got the TEA SET!!!! finally! After 800+ hours in this game I finally got it from Sam on winter star day😭 and that also is year 1 on my new save file omg 😭😭😭😭
A few of the Marriage candidates are up for grabs too (Elliott and Sebastian) On my run under the Sam subcategory I have the code I used you can just change the name Sam to Sebastian or Elliot
For missing you’d need to somehow put basement unlock, wine, and ancient fruit seeds and fertilizer into what would probably be an animal name text box? Along with the other missing items and use that to get the items then sleep enough to get the quality wine and ancient fruits
Correction: NDE you arent allowed to paste new line characters, you are allowed to copy/paste otherwise The # signs are to to increase the length of the name, because the game will(without wsc) only process 1 mail inject(eg the "}ccMovieTheater} ) per dialogue box, and # is also a non alphanumeric character so wont contribute to the name length(which if is too long will crash the game as windows file path too long) Also, wsc was fixed in 1.4, not 1.3, but 1.3 made it harder to saveskip Marriage glitches runs have used the same strat for basically all of them, and the code is linked in one of the yt description of one of the higher up runners(prim's harvey run iirc) And 100% backing up sal on please run NDE/glitches, its a fun little subcatagory that deserves more love

Some people also speedrun as you know, and use spreadsheets to have the most optimal crop-growing arrangement, all sorts of self-made challenges. Others just like to decorate farms or romance npcs, and there's a large modding community if you don't like the bright colors, or wish you could grow more flower types, even some creating new map areas! The community is one of the nicest and most welcoming I've ever been a part of (although we have our bad apples of course), and it's genuinely such a cool place to be. So if you have a bit of money to spare, consider trying Stardew Valley! (sorry for the long comment, this game is a passion of mine and I love to get people to try it ♥︎)
For the mines speedrun, could possibly save even more time by adding the code for the mines being open, so you dont have to sleep for 5 days. Not sure if it would work, but something to look at if anyone plans on giving it a go.

i've watched a couple glitched runs and they're so fast it's so hard to tell what's even happening. knowing the actual code/science behind them makes the ones i've seen before make a LOT more sense! i can kind of understand why most people don't want to run these, it's very technical and feels like you're just "cheating" in the items (which i guess...you are?) but now i know there's a lot more to it than that! very interesting video, thank u sal for this gem
conceptually the boat one is hilarious. imagine being willy going to check on your broken boat and suddenly everything you need to fix it is right there

im not a speed runner and i dont know anything about the glitches (or how regular stardew works even) but my thoughts for the run you brought up at the end are glitch in the dino mayo, caviar, and prismatic shard, then for the first quality one glitch in wine and a cask. the second is a little trickier I originally was arguing for either the fish or the fruit as pretty equally valid options, but I had a realization that makes the fruit a much better option but I'll say it at the end :3 For the fish, you'd probably want an advanced fishing rod and two quality bobbers, or if its possible to change fishing level with glitches, either one quality bobber and a curiosity lure/dressed spinner or a replacing the quality with a dressed spinner. whether or not you can change your level with these glitches changes a LOT of how the run would go, like which fishing zone you should try and fish in and even maybe which professions you would choose (doesn't price affect quality? or is it the other way around?) no matter what, you can basically guarantee which ever fish you catch is gold quality, and it's just a matter of how the best way to increase your bite rate. You could also cheat in food to get your fishing level higher even without cheating the level itself, but if you do the 2 quality bobber method you HAVE to aim for the lowest quality possible to get it so a fishing level boost isn't really recommended. For the fruit, I think it's theoretically easier but might be much slower and pretty rng heavy, with deluxe fertilizer, sprinklers, and the fruit seeds. Again, this is also dependent on level. Unlike the fishing method, I think getting a farming buff is a good idea no matter what. There are way less variables here, hence why i think it's probably easier, but I think the fish would be a better bet.... except i forgot about actually getting TO the witches swamp. I think it might be possible by triggering the cutscene with the wizard, but even with that ability i think the travel time would probably make the fishing method a little longer, even if it would be more consistent. Edit: I just remembered that casks only work if you actually HAVE a cellar so maybe you have to do both of these things, unless you can force house upgrades with glitches too. I would assume so because you can do the marrige run but idk
I'd love to see some animations of some of these speedruns but from NPC perspectives. A glimpse into how totally unhinged the reality breaking is, haha.
I would be interested in you covering hte next step down of glitches, the ones without pasting. I am curious, do those alloy item codes in your name as long as they can be legitimately typed?
Now, my question is why your mines run isn't on the leaderboard. It beats the current posted record from a couple of months ago (on 1.6x so they're using this strategy)? Did something not meet the rules, is it still being verified, or is there another reason?
the key combo which does it is "Right-Shift + Del + R" from what I've heard, most do something like aautohotkey script which lets you do map something like say "f" to the input "Right-Shift + Del + R" so that when you press f it animation Cancels
You can in 1.6, but there's other tricks that only 1.2 can do, like window shifting, that still make it faster. Maybe someday someone will figure out a faster route in 1.6!
I don't throw any shade towards people who run glitched runs, I just don't watch them. Mostly because when I watch people play, I want them to either be very skilled or doing something interesting. Glitches just aren't interesting to me and when I say skilled, I mean good at the game itself, not exploiting it.
4:50 1.2 doesn't have the movie theater Personally I find these runs a little boring/absurd as you can install SMAPI and run these debug commands I find normal speed run entertaining because you take advantage of what the game presents to the player and push it to its limit

Cheating is when you use external tools to modify a game, so glitches (no matter how broken they are) aren't cheating
The fact that Stardew Valley has such an easy access to ace is so funny to me, its wild.
Luckily it's not ACE, just some special in-game commands.

by this reasoning, the runners are just sages, who conjure up complicated combinations of chants
I could see RNG for the missing bundle being an issue. Trying to the the gold mango wine from Gus on the island.
I should think you would stick in the code for a fully upgraded house and spawn a fairy dust for the cask.

It can basically only be done with a macro anyway. You can't move, use a mouse, and hit all of those keys otherwise
