Cannot wait to see how this short episode becomes this long a vid.
Best ED from my childhood. The this series ED by the Pillows I think they were called.
Its beat is forever stuck in my head... well at least part of it.

FLCL is definitely a vibes show but there's a surprising depth to the character motivations and tons of details packed in among the chaos, robots and meta jokes.
One of the core element of the show is the band The pillows, FLCL is using tracks mainly from three of their albums in the OST: Little Busters, Runners High and Happy Bivouac.
Here's a list of the tracks used in episode 1 if you want to enjoy the vibes.
One Life / Runners High / Stalker / Come Down / Bran-New Lovesong / Advice / Sleepy Head / Little Busters / Ride on shooting Star (ED)

Taro is like saying boy or as a dog name its just the over common generic name like Rover from a cartoon.

FLCL was never broadcast on Toonami, just [adult swim]. I can't imagine this show ever airing on daytime Cartoon Network, lol.

FLCL was my obsession in the 2000's.
The show it self is a sort of "tech/skill showcase". They took a regular seasons worth of funds and crammed them into 6 episodes. Stuff like the "matrix spin" and the manga bit where examples of new tech and skills for its time. There will be more in future episodes.
The "Ta-kun" and "Taro-kun" thing are sort of separate things. Ta-kun is something to be better explained later. But Taro-kun is a sort of "generic" name, sort of like a "john smith" for guys. So Given Haruko just met him, she's just giving him a name.
Lol, the bit about the mech fighting with the hand was something I never really got. Nice observation!
Yeah, FLCL seemingly is just a nonsense word/phrase. Why? Because its cool.
As for Mamimi's "overflowing" I'd always seen it as her sadness on the whole situation, and by using Nouta, she can keep those sad feelings from overflowing. Her learning that the older brother has a girlfriend, she overflows. I don't think she knew prior to this point, as seemingly, the brother didn't bother to contact her. Her fears where realized.
Last little bit, There is a tiny change in the ending, as in the shot where the camera is spinning around the bike, you can see the camera man in the shadow cast on the ground. in later episodes, they edited the shadow out. Just something I always thought was neat.
I hope you continue the show, it's pretty short, and if you got this much out of it so far, I think you'll enjoy the rest.

There's a bunch of good shows on that poll so I can't blame them too much but Gundam 0080 being at the bottom. That's worse than the war crimes in the show

I'm not gonna analyse that much So, "the growth" fights "the hand" after "overflowing", you see.

I guess I'll check out the first episode reaction because I remember watching one episode of this years ago.

Realizing both times I've watched this show it must have been dubbed, don't think I recognize the sub at all. Feels like a new experience if I'm being honest, will be fun to revisit.

Cool older chick barges into pubescent teenage boy's life and immediately makes him horny. And then fooly cooly shenanigans ensue.
Yeah, it's definitely very 90's show and it's one of reasons I love it so much. And yeah, definitely vibes. Japanese Scott Pilgrim as I sometimes called it to describe it to my friends.
I may like it more in Eng Dub actually, some lines hit harder (even though in this Sub version text is exactly the same as in Dub surprisingly). I remember when I watched for the first time that Mamimi 'never knows best' scene on the bridge and her descriptions of her feelings and knew it's gonna be special for me. And the song accompanying it. Very 90's like teen angst melancholy. Mamimi is still my favourite.
