Yeah I really liked the little segments where we saw him interacting with his space buddies before each battle. He was a cool character and I'm glad we got to see of him what we did, even though there definitely could have been more stuff fleshed out about him
I think he got a surprising amount of screen time for a guy who- by design of the game- has to sit back and wait for you to reach him before he can show off his powers, but more Fu ill never say no to. Now henry i woulda liked to see more of

Suda51 always ends his numbered titles on huge cliffhangers and then says it's the end of the series. It's like the PSG ending, except there really is a sequel.
ngl FU, Damon and FU's backstory with the other aliens ended up being by far my favourite aspect of the story and it felt like all that got completely screwed over, especially at the very end with the final boss.
It was very intentional. FU and the aliens show up and are initially meant to be just big evil villains, but then they end up being even more human than most of the actual human assassin characters. But of course Travis and the other assassins he associates with are all various levels of fucked and don’t really care about them at all. Just like how initially all we want to do is kill them. It’s both played for comedy and for fucking with expectations that most of the aliens end up being “joke characters” who don’t get actual boss fights.

Through the games Travis had various points where he changed his vision what killing a human being means, you can see it on NMH1 when killing Death Metal wished to be like him, famous, multi-millionaire and a life of luxury at expense of killing, he has a bloodlust yes, but his actual intention to get into the assassin thing was just to fuck Sylvia. And the second turning point when he killed Bad Girl who REALLY enjoyed killing people at the point to make Travis uncomfortable, which he questions his path until that point. And on NMH2 his views on killing changed again when fighting Ryuji and Alice Twilight where he just realized he was killing people. Sorry for the essay but yeah, the "passing assassin" thing is just something that he likes to say because he's still an otaku fan of movies where he got the idea of naming himself like that.
I dunno....There's just something wholesome about Bad Girl actually hanging out Travis and his friend and not committing murder. And Travis actually compliments her on getting better. That's beautiful right there.
Find it admirable after replaying this that this game is mirroring suda51 feelings towards his fans and thanking us in one more game turning into a trilogy like star wars. Alot new players of the series might be confused by this comment but you gotta read up suda51 life around this trilogy then understand his feelings on TSA to truely get NMH3 story. Should have known Bad Girl was an anime geek, given the gothic lolita fashion. The cutesy way of talking too, actually. Travis as a character personally doesn't like JRPG's but the entire segment is moreso homage than it is a jab, and I really don't think they are lamp shading the design of the alien bosses considering most of them you don't even actually fight- and the ones you do I'd argue had the best designs. Mr. Blackhole was actually teased back in TSA (travis strikes again) so he probably had the most thought put into him as far as being an alien and Gold Joe was a joy to have, you'll notice the more middle ground between alien and humanoid are the bosses that you don't actually fight- like black night direction I think his name is, and Velvet chair girl brought an interesting segment to the game despite not technically being a boss you fight, but I digress. With these things in mind I wouldn't call it lamp shading.
Also I heard that no more heroes 3 is the final game of the series and it was a great run while it last. But on greater terms of expectation truly a game worth development.

Question (also spoilers). . . . . . . . . . . So how did Travis survive decapitation? Is it just meant to be a joke or is it something answered in a scene not shown here? Or is it just a possible bait for a future plotline like how the ending hinted with Family wars?
My theory Is- Travis Touchdown represents the playerbase of NMH (now trilogy) he represents the 'fans' that kept the series alive when it almost got killed multiple times. (In fact what saved the first game is that NMH1 was released from the west was so beloved from the west that made a killer selling (later suda51 career takin off). It is why theres even is a sequel.). To provide why this theory makes sense; when you start out the game you are playing a game that didn't sell that well in Japan which was where it was first released just like the 1st NMH. NMH1 was a failure even marketing wise in places in Japan and thats where it began. But then NMH1 was released in the west which was just treated 'just a weird Japanese game' which is why we hear travis say 'i got this game because it look weird and cool'. If you talk to old og NMH fans (even myself) this is why we have this game in the first place. Much like deathman getting a remastered from a unexpected cult following; NMH fans got not only a new NMH game but the last of its trilogy. The fans are the reason Travis is brought back to life but in a 4th wall breaking sense when Deathman tells travis he doesn't belong its because; Travis games are still being played (Travis is 'us' the player). If we let him die there wouldn't be 3 nmh games and a spin-off. Another thing to note is that if your knew in suda51 games theres a lot symbolic messages especially more so recently. If you study SUDA51 career life then play Travis Strikes Again you see there's alot mirrors in that game that aren't oblivious but known feelings suda51 is bringing out. So yeh highly recommend this franchise. Its a beautiful flawed mess I come back to every year
They keep saying to kill the past in this one. I think the past is Travis true villain in the series. The past for Travis is the wilder days of Travis (no more heroes 1). In no more heroes 2 and 3 the past keep returning to bite Travis in the ass in so many different ways. Until Travis kills the past he will never truly grow into a man.
You have to admit for how cruel and murderous FU was he did keep his word ro return and still viewed Damon as his best friend even if both had changed.

What I like is the added scenes with the villians that lets you get to know them a bit more before the fight, it's a nice touch.

Also, that chat between Sonic Juice and Travis about how **** RPG characters look seems like both a jab at old RPG character designs and the game lamp shading the design of the alien bosses too. Especially that comment about the brand and getting worshipped. I always thought the alien bosses were meant to try to push how unnatural the designs could be compared to the rest of the game’s aesthetic.

Travis as a character personally doesn't like JRPG's but the entire segment is moreso homage than it is a jab, and I really don't think they are lamp shading the design of the alien bosses considering most of them you don't even actually fight- and the ones you do I'd argue had the best designs.
Mr. Blackhole was actually teased back in TSA (travis strikes again) so he probably had the most thought put into him as far as being an alien and Gold Joe was a joy to have, you'll notice the more middle ground between alien and humanoid are the bosses that you don't actually fight- like black night direction I think his name is, and Velvet chair girl brought an interesting segment to the game despite not technically being a boss you fight, but I digress. With these things in mind I wouldn't call it lamp shading.

My theory Is- Travis Touchdown represents the playerbase of NMH (now trilogy) he represents the 'fans' that kept the series alive when it almost got killed multiple times. (In fact what saved the first game is that NMH1 was released from the west was so beloved from the west that made a killer selling (later suda51 career takin off). It is why theres even is a sequel.). To provide why this theory makes sense; when you start out the game you are playing a game that didn't sell that well in Japan which was where it was first released just like the 1st NMH. NMH1 was a failure even marketing wise in places in Japan and thats where it began. But then NMH1 was released in the west which was just treated 'just a weird Japanese game' which is why we hear travis say 'i got this game because it look weird and cool'. If you talk to old og NMH fans (even myself) this is why we have this game in the first place. Much like deathman getting a remastered from a unexpected cult following; NMH fans got not only a new NMH game but the last of its trilogy. The fans are the reason Travis is brought back to life but in a 4th wall breaking sense when Deathman tells travis he doesn't belong its because; Travis games are still being played (Travis is 'us' the player). If we let him die there wouldn't be 3 nmh games and a spin-off.
Another thing to note is that if your knew in suda51 games theres a lot symbolic messages especially more so recently. If you study SUDA51 career life then play Travis Strikes Again you see there's alot mirrors in that game that aren't oblivious but known feelings suda51 is bringing out. So yeh highly recommend this franchise. Its a beautiful flawed mess I come back to every year

In no more heroes 2 and 3 the past keep returning to bite Travis in the ass in so many different ways. Until Travis kills the past he will never truly grow into a man.
