That last move letting go of his lightsaber to dodge from his arms getting cutting off, then regrabbing it with the other hand.... THAT was pretty slick.

That said… he did end up with Rachel Bilson so my feeling bad for him has its limits 😋 Also, I have noticed that quite a few people have turned around on their negative opinions of him and look on him with fondness now. Who knows? We may even get him back a little later in life.

If you watch the scenes with no dialogue, such as the moments when Anakin is considering rushing to help arrest Palpatine, there is an astonishment amount of range in his acting. I belive Christopher Lee and Ian MacDiarmid were already too old. The director used luxurious wide shots, where the acting is visible. Today it would be easier (relatively to importance of the scene) to mask their faces on stuntmen, but in 2003 they did what they could, still an amazing job compared to the latest films. The duel with Dooku from the movie was top notch.

I wish this had made it into the movie. This duel does a really good job of showing not only how skilled and powerful Anakin is, but also how arrogant he’s become, as well as how he is starting to give in to the dark side. The flip he does over Dooku is such good foreshadowing. The little smirk that turns into a hate-filled scowl when they’re pushing their blades against each other, and, of course, the absolutely ICE cold move where he baits Dooku into doing the same move that cost him an arm the first time they dueled, and countering it with the lightsaber drop/catch move, and immediately going for the arms. He didn’t just want to kill Dooku. He wanted to disrespect him, taunt him, and take his arms, and make him feel powerless in his last moments.
Absolutely brilliant duel that tells so much about the characters simply through their fighting. Outstanding work by all involved!

The last exchangr after Anakjn blinds him. I love how Anakin more or less hides his light saber from Dooku, while still parrying Dooku's attacks, and moving in, all done behind the back, completely taking away any chance for him to retake the initiative. He then presents his lightsaber hand as a target, and af ter an awesome hand switch, the duel is over.
Its so much like chess, where you suddenly find yourself completely on the defensive, then even more suddenly the game is over.

I’m surprised no one is talking about the 0:30 mark! He’s grabbing the lightsaber blade with his LEFT hand while kicking Dooku! I get this is early in the production so it could be a mistake, but is possible at some point that Lucas was wanting to implement an ability where through the force you can touch a lightsaber? Or is Anakin so confident that he is fighting in the “training mode” because he knows he will beat Dooku with his own blade?
