- In the desert of Nevada, His Excellency Kevin Baugh has founded the independent Republic of Molossia and created a faux secession. With a population of 6 (including his 3 faithful dogs) and a complex infrastructure that ranges from a miniature railroad system to a customs booth at the front door, Molossia provokes and makes us reflect upon the meaning of sovereignty and the limits of our individual freedoms.

Well Molossia was invaded in 2010 by a militia of internet critics, using kamikaze polar bears. They overthrow the president and renamed the contery Kickassia. Then internal turmoil made the military junta collapsed from within (about 48h after the takeover) and president Baugh was back in power.

Okay we need to get this guy a lot more land and a population. He can have his little family square and the outside of his expanded land will be where his permanent population operates with their jobs and daily lives.

Well, they have been in two wars, and currently are in one, there was the war with Mustachistan, that time nostalgia critic took over Bqughston and renamed it Kickassia, and the ongoing war with east germany, but to be fair east Germany hasn't fought back, and Molossia never attacked, the mustachistan incident was just a little joking around with pals, and the Kickassia thing was also non serious, so yeah probably.

I loved the Mouse that Roared movies (there were two) Gran Fenwick.. The idea was to go to war with the USA, loose the war, and then get rebuilt with all kinds of aid like they did to Germany and Europe after WWII. Actually a pretty smart idea. The Mouse in Space was just as funny. They end up rescuing the Americans and Russians from the moon. Hilarious. It is funny but having seen those movies, it too made me wonder what it would be like to buy a few acres and just declair my lands and self an independent nation.... Funny that he actually did it. This has been an idea of mine for years.. I don't have a navy, but I have two 'tanks' and a small army. My one tank is a Hustler Mini Z with a 7.62 mm gun and the other is a Toro with a 6.5mm gun. I am also migrating to total solar power, have two wells, my own sewer system and my own road. My road is actually smoother then the paved road on the US side of the border. So, i too give foreign aid to the failing USA to help support it's crumbling infrastructure.

You could, though such land would have to be outside every country's exclusive economic zone about 200km offshore.

I have a nation dubbed, Idongivafuc Ville, in which I am the President. We have no pleasant relations. I have a cabinet and a congress but my overall say goes we have not yet founded checks and balances I do plan on creating a good government for my people.

Little late, but if you really want to make your own micro-nation, then go out there right now! There are some places left in the world where you can create your own nation. Borders incorrectly drawn, patches of land owned by no other country(like Bir Tawil), and Antarctica. You can also just make your own nation in you backyard if you want to. Its all legal thanks to the Montevideo confention. The only problem you whould be having if you start a nation in your backyard, is that you "cross" borders, so you are basically stealing land from an existing nation. And if you want to spent some money, just buy an island, or make one by dumping sand on a reef. Just go out there while you still can. There are actually hundreds of micronations out in the world.

I do like the whole micro-nation thing, and love the passports, paraphenalia, currency etc. but usually there's some sort of past event that results in the declaration of sovereignty. Prince Leonard's Hutt River Principality came about as a result of percieved unfair farming regulations, whilst Prince Roy's Sealand began as a pirate radio station, then found the loophole in being outside British territorial waters an opportunity to prove that he is outside of their jurisdiction.
The issue with Molossia to me is just a question of why...? He doesnt appear to have any point to make, despite attempts to justify it's existence quoting his indepedent spirit, a spirit he credits most of the people of Nevada having, making his actions even less beneficial to anybody other than himself as he herds the curious towards his tacky souvenir stand.
I just fail to see any point or protest being made by Molossia that contributes anything. The little "quirks" like different time zones and laws designed to do nothing other than give the state some sort of percieved eccentricity that instead just makes the President look like a performer desperately trying to get extract a laugh from his audience is painful to wittness.
