Z Fold 5 Team 100% geting mine tommorow! I have an S23 Ultra, so im curious to see the transition. I review Samsung phones, and ever since having the Fold 4 ive wondered what itll look like, sadly nothing new, but im glad about the extra brightness and new hinge! I subbed btw, this video was so well made. Definently an inspiration.

Moving from the S21 Ultra to the Fold 5 was something I never thought I'd do. I was sacrificing camera, battery life, and overall ergonomics. But as soon as I started using it, it really is a game-changer on how phones are used. As an architect, this phone is something that fits my job and personality.
I made the same change/upgrade and was also skeptical at first for everything that I'm "sacrificing" but have enjoyed it for the past week or so
My girl made the upgrade from s21U and the areas you mentioned are all upgraded for what you get!.. you lose the 100x zoom but the camera is great!!!.. and you have 8k! The battery gets you through a day with moderate use! Great phone!!
The cameras on the Fold 5 is FAR better than the S21 Ultra and competes (and most of the time beats) the S23 Ultra. Don't say 'no it doesn't' because I own ALL of these devices. It stomps the 14 pro max in still photos.
Same experience when I left my note 20 never looked back. I still want Samsung to get the s pen inside the device

Never judge a book by its cover. Always wait, get it in your own hands and test drive it. The fold 5 is magical. Get one if you can. It's remarkable.
I'm glad I decided to stick with the Fold 5 vs the pixel fold. I actually enjoy using the inner display vs the pixel fold. The lack of app optimization on pixel and the only form of multitasking being able to run two apps at once compared to the fold 5 is more noticeable than I thought. The speakers are MUCH better on the Fold 5 as well. Although I prefer the cleaner experience of pixel, They still have a bit of work on optimization
Honestly, Z Fold 5 is on another level. I feel like I'm carrying a Phone + Tab + Laptop! I upgraded from Note 9. Initially I had plans to shift to the IPhone 15! No regret!
It's the other way around for me, I've been on the Note series for years, but I'll probably switch to the iPhone. Samsung disabled the use of Samsung Notes on Windows computers not long ago and that was one drop too many. I used Samsung Notes exclusively, now I am left out in the cold. Rotten move by Samsung, now it is only enabled for Galaxy books.

After seeing Samsung, year after year, come up with one innovation after another, there's NO WAY I would even dream of going to a stale iPhone. If you look at iPhones from the iPhone 7 up to the current 14, they all look and work the same with only slight modifications. The only thing Apple has done is improve the cameras. Meanwhile Samsung has given us the S-pen of the Note series, and now the Flip and the Fold. I have been with Samsung since the original Note series. Now I'm on the Fold 5. I will be with Samsung until they prove they have nothing left to give me.
@@AlexanderNevermind888 I was setting up my new Fold 5 and was really amazed by the new Android features and customizations. Those who are status conscious saying Samsung is for poor, Z Fold is already more expensive than Apple top end IPhones. And, what these new Android phones can do are just amazing stuffs!!

I upgraded to the fold 5 coming from the S21 Ultra. I honestly love this phone.. particularly because of it being slim. Its a lot easier to hold one handed. Typing doesn't seem to bother me much. In fact, i find myself making less mistakes compared to my S21 Ultra. Im typing this comment unfolded and dont see any issues with it.
Made exactly the same upgrade a week ago.. So glad I did! I just need a decent, as slim as possible case for it.
I switched from S22 Ultra to the Z Fold 5, and I must say, I am not missing my S22 ultra. The Fold 5 is magical

I've been an iphone user since the og and today I picked up the z fold 5, it is insane how easy it is to love this device. I strictly bought this device to pair with my 14 pro max. I wanted a media consumption device while travel instead of my iPad
Best choice I've ever made
Some of things you mentioned that you do on the outer screen quickly are either better or fine on the narrower aspect.
Phone calls? Much easier to hold a narrow phone than a wide one. It’s why I hate holding my iPhone 14 Pro Max up to my head for a call.
Quick check of notifications? Easier with an easier to hold screen.
The challenge is really if you want to do a bunch of texting one-handed with the phone closed…
I've been hooked since the 3, had the 4 . Not huge improvements, but after 4 days of use . Brighter screen , better hinge (opening feels much better, With a notable slap sound , stronger ) , personally loving the slim s pen case . (Never liked any case options for the 3 or 4 , and hardly used it . having the phone fold flat is also a.huge deal , your right hinge is the most essential part of this phone and samsung has really refined every year.
For any of its downsides , slim front screen , photo lens , battery . The experience and tech is a thing of my wildest 1994 childhood dreams. I use the folds as my daily , and have had zero problems durability wise . I work in a pizzeria and flour inevitable, and en masse makes it into my work pants . Never had a problem with the 3 or 4 .
With the 6 I hope we get a wider display outside, bigger battery , s pen silo , top camera specs (top of then line phone Sammy!) , creaseless display . Samsung has 5 years of z fold , and each iteration has improved on the last imo . Such a dope phone, I settled for icy blue , but almost pulled the trigger on the color you got , looks dope.
It's better than the Google pixel imo . And Apple has been releasing the same phone for 7 or 8 years now . 😮

Coming from Fold 4, Fold 5 does feel more sturdy and the battery life is better.
I havs a question about the fold 5. Can you use the s pen to take photos or record video with the cover screen or inner display?
Which UI are you using so as to get around 9-10 icons in your cover screen in the fold ??

i was gonna get this, but in the UK, the trade in offers were £100 less than the fold 4, and no free watch was offered, and the price increased by £100. Literally about to buy a fold 4 for abt £1250 instead :)

Great video. Im so happy i got the Pixel Fold. $1000 off with verizon. App optimization will happen soon but either way, most apps i use look great. Honestly, the only issue i have is the weight. The damn thing is a brick. Lol. Wishing you continued success man.

I love it! From the cover screen to the inside, it's sleek and beautiful. No complaints whatsoever. I am one of the lucky ones who is not prone to error on typing on the front screen. The battery as you said, is very subjective. I personally don't care cause we are at a time where there are pocketable power banks anyways.

Your take on it and mine as far as the narrow front screen, lackluster cameras and battery life are spot on. Widen the phone body just a little and add better S-series cameras, and a 5k or 6k mAh battery, and incorporate the S-Pen into the devise and Samsung would have the perfect phone. Those 3 changes would blow the doors off the sales.
I am running the Fold4 now and I'm upgrading to the Fold5. The reason it the Fold4 in having overheating issues that are causing the phone to shut down. If you don't get it off the charger within a couple minutes of it reaching 90% it shuts down. The phone will not even accept a 100% charge. If you use the big screen to watch videos or play games, it shuts down within 20 to 40 minutes. If you carry the phone in your pocket, it shuts down from body heat even if the phone is not in use.
I contacted Samsung and they said they would not be able to repair that type of problem. Their solution was to not charge the phone fully, and to avoid using the main screen, Don't play any games, and don't carry the phone on your person. What in the holy hell do they think people spend $2,000 to buy a phone like this for? They buy it to use!!! They said to store the phone in a cool place, but it even shuts off in an airconditioned room or car. I'm thinking the problem is either the battery, or the CPU is overheating, or that it's not overheating at all, but the sensors are telling it that it's overheating and shutting the phone off. Once it shuts off, it takes an act of congress to turn it back on. You usually have to put it in the refrigerator and over cool it to get it to get past the boot up stage. The Fold5 is supposed to have a 38% bigger cooling chamber and better temp management.
I may be a fool for thinking the same thing with the Fold5 will get a better result... I think they call that insanity. If the result is the same and they don't stand behind their product any better than they have, they will be talking to my lawyer about it. Been a Samsung fan for 12 years now, but they are border line to losing a customer.

I have the s23 ultra and to me battery is more important and also that UHD 60 HDR 10 video is incredible. I just miss the micro sd card. For z fold 6 or 7 they have work to do making front the screen wider , s pen inside, better camera , better battery etc
Is that exclusive blue fold 5 less slippery without a case than the fold 4 was? I'm assuming it would be since the hinge and frame have a matte finish
Z fold 4 user since pre order. My solution for the outer display typing experience was to learn how to install and use Goodlock, and learn how to use Keyboard cafe in theme park which allowed me to edit and design the Samsung keyboard to the size and placement that works for me. I don't swipe type. I type by actually typing the letters. Hope this helps some one.
Another cool thing I enjoy is the z3flip app. I set up a routine which uses the z3flip app each time my phone is folded, so it keeps count of how many folds I do daily, and how many folds I do total since I installed the app.
These have been big quality of life changes for me.
Also, my phone don't over heat with all the multitasking I do😂

How do you find your wallpapers?
As a fan of the iPhone mini form factor, the cover screen is a bit tall, but the perfect width. I wouldn't want to see it go much wider. The benefit of foldables is that we get both the slim and wide form factor in one device. Once you start to get to width like the Pixel fold, the benefits are gone.
Agree with your take on battery life that it can be different for everyone. Coming from the base S22, battery life appears to be not great, but amazing. I seem to be getting about 7-9hrs of SOT (as a light user). Would be lucky if I got 4hrs on the S22.
Unfair to use the base S22 as an example as that used a Samsung-made chip and they are the worst chip fabricator. All flagships are TSMC this year so are 33% better at least.

Is the inner screen the same technology as the z fold 3 & 4? I only ask because the screen on my z fold 3 didn't even last a year; started with a black bar along the crease and one half wasn't responsive to touch
It is supposed to be about 35% stronger than the Fold 4 but needs to be as the Fold 4 had a lot of issues.
This is me trying to type on the slim front panel... not too bad given my big hands lol cool video!
I was skeptical, too, going from the note 20 ultra to the fold3 with such a smaller outside screen, but now I can't live without the fold. Traded my 3 for a 4 and now 4 for 5. Every time, getting a little better. I'm really hoping they put the s pen inside for the 6. Really digging the slim case and smaller s pen, which I have always used since my 3.
Literally all the same. I had Note20 Ultra and actually held onto it and got the Z Fold3, then upgraded to the 4 (almost didn't but I saw it in person while pre-orders were still live and the 3mm on the cover screen made a big difference typing-wise), and pre-ordered the 5 since the trade-ins were great in the states, plus I have a student account.
@nateskool right? Lol. Great trade in credit plus Healthcare discount for me. When i figure, I only paid about $600 when i traded in the 3 for 4 and then got $1000 credit for the 4 trade in...it was a no brainer....👍I kept my note 20 ultra, also, just in case. Now it's my kiddo's phone. Lol

Google pixel fold user here... 😂 I loved this video. I have had the Samsung fold 2 & 3. I start feeling like you can't go wrong with either phone BUT for me, it's the front bigger screen and the landscape mode for entertainment as soon as you open the pixel fold. I'm sticking with google.
Yes I love the p fold coming from z fold 3. Only issue I have is the brightness outside. But its so great I'll deal with it. Ion be outside like that in the sun.

All they have to do is turn it sideways and make it close that way creating a passport size fold like Google Pixel fold. Also when you open it allow you to have it in any orientation. This should be easy for Samsung.

Im not sure about how good the quality difference between the fold 5 compared to the fold 4 however, the durability of the fold 4 is plagued with issues specifically the main display has a tendency to crack along the crease making the key point of these devices inoperable. Ive had to get my fold 4 replaced twice now, the first issue i had was with the charging port not working properly as well as the power button not turning on the outer display when pressed as well as a glitchy os. Then my second fold 4 after 4 months under normal use the main display cracked on the seam creating a black spot where it spiderwebed and made the main display inoperable, and when i tried to get the device replaced Samsung and their service center not only refused to honor their manufacturer warranty the service center acused me of damaging the main display due to operator error and refused to replace the phone forcing me to use my insurance, the device was on backorder for so long they offered me an s23 ultra with similar specs and i won't go back to another folding phone unless they fix the screen cracking issue as I'm not the only one who's had this issue, phone repair shops in my area alone have seen 3-4 of fold 3-4 coming in weekly because of the same exact issue

I had a Samsung galaxy z4 mini that was slim like this and I actually found typing on that easier and more pleasant than typing on these wide screen phones we have today. My pinky did not adapt. Honestly I have bigger hands and my pinky wants to wrap around the phone like it did in the days when texting wasn't a thing.

Z fold 5 is a nice upgrade from my fold 3! But I wish outer screen was a little bigger like my Pixel fold
But I think Samsung wants you to use the inner screen more and Google let's you decide what to use

Yeah, I understand what they're doing but it definitely seems sliiiiightly too thin. If they made it a bit wider they could probably fit a bigger battery and maybe even an integrated S Pen, whilst making the typing experience a bit better.
What about xiaomi mix 3. The outer is bigger and taller.

Luv your videos. Agree on the camera and the battery. I am sure Samsung could do better. My S22 does not get my skin tone right either. It washes me out. But I like the screen size and the plus or ultimate is just too big. I can live with the color as it’s not camera. It’s a phone first. But what really irks me is that we lost the audio port 2-3 yrs back. Bluetooth is just crap even with my iPad - so I know it’s not any one phone manufacturers fault- it’s BT in general.

The extra room on the Fold 5 Chassis should mean better speakers - but this was not the case.

Great review. I disagree that battery life is subjective, simply compare it to the competition. Is it better, equal or less than other similar devices?
I have pixel fold, fold 5 and s23 ultra and I can honestly say that each phone has its own niche but pound for pound the s23 ultra takes the cake! Outside of folding it wins in every category! One thing folds win in hands down is when open it up and everyone is blown away by it! Fold 5 much better than it gets credit for but the ultra will be the best option. You can get a pixel 7pro, tablet, watch and buds for less than the pixel fold. Lastly if you plan on getting s24 ultra you don't want to lose money trading in the fold for it.
You can also get a pixel 7 Pro, tablet, watch and buds for less than the price of a fold 5. So what's your point?

I am glad to hear someone else coming to the same logical conclusion as I have. The only foldable I find truly useful, save for a niche crowd, is the Z Flip. That's my personal opinion. I implore anyone who wishes to purchase the vertically folding phones to truly enjoy the them if that's their thing.
My wife and I just ditched apple for the 5, she's been with apple non stop since iphone 3g and we love it!!! I started with 3g as well but I've gone back and forth. Our 3g is still running the black rain jail break, if it will ever turn on again lol!!
Coming from the Z fold 3 I can say the z fold 5 is a noticeable upgrade when it comes to the screens, with the form factor being almost perfect. I say almost because I feel that the device just needs to be an extra couple of millimetres wider in diameter.
Going from the 3 to the 5 you definitely notice the refinement over the years
I know we here in America land don’t get them but I just recently got exposed to the Chinese foldables by some videos while watching fold 5 content and man.. idk what the software experience is like but hardware wise they’re competing something fierce over there and forcing everyone to go thinner or lighter or better camera and just looking at the form factor it makes the z fold look ancient

Still torn from the fold 5 or the Google fold currently I'm still using the pixel 6 pro I love the pixel just can't stand the heating up aspect especially with the heat in Texas
I stated with fold2 I didn't get the one after but just got 5 and I will say I'm pleased. It is noticeable different feel and definitely best phone on market. Ps also a head turner. Get approached about it all the time

The final count was a bit over 400k open close on flip5... Very impressive
also they subjected the Flip to a savage dust test (flour and all sorts) and it continued folding. I think there's minor dust protection but like the One Pluses of old, it can't get the official rating

Facts all Samsung has to do is widen the phone and then they can fit the S23 Ultra Cameras in it. Larger Battery and room to at keast fit that new skinny S Pen in the phone but the Bluetooth S Pen is more ideal.

Users can be unreasonable. The moment Samsung makes the front screen wider, they will complain that it's now hard to use it in one hand. They will also complain that it's no longer as comfortable to hold since it's wider.
It's possible but until they try we won't know for sure. It's a tough balance to find...
I doubt it. From what I've seen, some china based companies (xiaomi) managed to do it just fine

I just feel like Samsungs main reason for having such a slim cover screen is because they want you to use the inner screen. I've watched multiple videos where people admit when they use the pixel fold they find themselves not using the inner screen as much because the cover screen is so usable. At that point there's no need to really have a foldable phone lol
If you want to use the front screen then get a candy bar phone. Is that simple. The fold is made to use the inner screen. That's the whole point.

Sleek, great in the hand, slick transitions, great battery, refinement, display is dynamic...went from 4 to 5 and this small iteration makes a huge difference. Upgrade and enjoy.
All except great battery. I've had every fold since fold 3 and nope, the z fold 5 doss not have a great battery. It's very identical to z fold 4 battery
Honestly having owned the fold 4 in the past! It never bothered me I'm the slightest having a narrow display! The only thing that keeps me away from Samsung is their UI experience, that's my personal choice tho. I do love their product but I prefer Google's pixel
I enjoyed the video the tech nerd made n me says get it . I am going to have to rock with my Pixel Fold. I am a big fan of the software experience.

to me i use my phone alot. this phone battery will die quick. plus i believe a $1800 phone should have the best in it . the fold camera is just ok. For that price it should have at least the s23 ultra camera.
@CJKnowsTech no argument from me on many comments made in your vid save 1. I DO NOT LIKE THE PIXEL PERIOD. Outside maybe useful but that inner screen is truly sub par. You said it best in my humble opinion. Samsung has set the bar for foldables and every other company has to for the consumer get at the level or surpass Samsung which in turn will cause Samsung to bring thieir A game on the foldablle device. Example S23 Ultra. Enough said. Thanks for the review. Peace

I do nothing on the front screen of z fold 3 . Mines is always open and if it ain't then I open it . I do wish zfold folded like pixel fold .
I could not do anything productive on the front display of the Fold 4 yet I can be far more productive on my Pixel Fold and that made the difference to me.
The Ice Blue version is not exciting. Would love to see a a better chrome or metallic Blue that shimmers.
