  • The choke on a carburetor is actually a fairly important part, but on a progressive Weber. it's a huge part of how the thing runs. The previous own messed with the choke to keep things going, but left behind some goofy adjustments, that I needed to correct.

Very interesting video. My throttle cable jammed when it was not used for a long time, I lubricated it with graphite grease, and it was sometimes that its plastic coating simply slipped in the mount and it was not clear what was happening. It is bad that the throttle shaft is worn out. Unfortunately, air leaks and loss of vacuum are possible. I have not yet decided what is the best way to deal with this problem. Possibly teflon bushings or make a larger diameter throttle shaft... As I understand it, the weak point at the throttle shaft is where the screw holes are.

I thought about making little poly bushing for this, but a choke in my case isn't as important as a throttle plate. Weber sells replacement parts for everything, and used ones are all over the place to find parts. Just so much fiddling and things wearing out on these, for something that doesn't add anything to these cars. They are easy to work on, though :)
