Maybe it's just me but I don't care about the middle man I don't care about the dealer if I can get the product directly from the manufacturer for a cheaper price let's do it
Having a middle man (dealer) who puts another markup on your product is not an advantage from a consumer's point of view.
They don't do a mark up ? They get the products cheaper due to whole sale bro. They buy in bulk.. 99.99% of the time all the dealers prices are the exact same as from the direct company.. so idk what ur talking about

I think this could have been focused on technical differences. I felt like the main takeaway was that Sundown uses a dealer distribution system similar to JL and Skar went direct, hence their lower prices.

all i can say is i would love to see a side by side comparison and flex test between the skar zvx v2 15 and sundown x 15. To me and my oppinion they really look very close. But when getting technical about it skar is good considering you could very close almost get 2 zvx 15s compared to just 1 x 15. deffinetly someone needs to compare.

Steve Meade did a bench test on a Skar amp and it exceeded its ratings. Skar seems to have quality product. You may not be able to compare pricing as you say but you can definitely compare value. And Skars value is incredible. And I think that’s the point he was trying to make in his video. The value behind the the product.

Definitely was my point. Yeah they said I was fallacious yet they resorted to ad hominems. Sundown no doubt it’s better built, but if you like sundown and can’t really afford it. Just try out skar, some what similar.

dealer network is an outdated sales practice. we have the internet to purchase things now so cutting them off is a pretty smart move.
only reasons companies do dealer network is to hit their sales goal faster and its cheaper to ship in pallets
All high end subs look alike to me. I don't understand how anybody can accuse Skar Audio of steal a design. Also having a middleman that causes you to jack up your prices is not good for the customer. I think Skar just made a very smart move by cutting them out.
Alright. So before sundown,the giant surround and specific baskets weren’t jacked by China yet. Understand? That’s a sundown thing. Price increases vs waiting 2-6 mos for sub,the middle men get the product out en mass. Order a Fi or IA (I have both) and tell me how you like the wait. Price increase also includes,like they said,2 year real warranty fully made recone kits and services (Skar doesn’t have) and the option to blow a sub send it in and get an upgraded sub for a major discount as a perk. Most subs now look the same due to China avoiding our patent laws and copying baskets here and elsewhere to mass produce (Leeches). If I were to want a budget build I might consider Skar. If I want a serious high quality system made to last and has unique R&D in it and great service afterwards I’ll consider going Sundown. For now I run Incriminator audio. But looking into what makes certain manufacturers produce quality products is why I’ll usually only ever run Fi,IA,Sundown,Adire,DD,DC,and a very few others purely if I want a long lasting and quality sounding system(s).

The official Sundown channel rebutting a video from a channel with less than 200 subscribers says something about the confidence of the brand. Both companies make claims about designing their products but the truth about their involvement in the engineering is questionable. If you look at the gut shots of the equivalent amps on each of their sites you can clearly see they share the same boards. The individual components may be different but the layout is the same. One doesn’t copy the other because they are made in the same plant by one manufacturer. They obviously can have the cases custom made and specify better or cheaper components but they don’t have rights to the board/circuit design. The options Sundown chooses for their amps probably do make for a slightly better performing amp but not an amp that is worth 70 to 100 percent more in price. Skar is passing along the savings of no dealers, salesmen, sponsorships and other marketing. Compare the Sundown sax-125.4 v.2 and the Skar skv2-100.4ab. The Sundown adds a fan and changes some components and claims years of development. The Skar has the same board but adds onboard fuses. The fan, the 25 watts more per channel , and the Sundown name are not worth $460 to me. I went with the Skar just because it made sense. If I have to buy another one if mine breaks I’m still ahead moneywise.

Id much rather support a company that helps keep brick and motor open, to bring decent paying jobs to my community, which keeps part of my money in my community. But on a side note to Sundown, if you dont want china to knock off your stuff, quit sending it to them, you might be pulling out ahead from the gate, but your gunna loose the race. There are companies that build all in house in the USA, cough DC cough AudioControl, and they build quality products and are competitive with pricing, so dont say you could not do it and still compete. Id pay the extra for a quality US product, and do.
When you send money to china, china gets wealthier and more powerful. When you spend your $ in your community, your community gets wealthier and more powerful. Which one helps you?

I personally run both in my vehicle, I run a skar rp1500.1 amplifier and 2 sundown sa12's and have never had an issue with either in my humble opinion they are both good quality brands. I happen to work for a audio shop who sells addicted audio and can tell you that yes there is quite a large markup on the price and I mean an easy 200% markup so I totally understand why some people would choose skar over sundown. I can not speak about the customer service for either company since I have had no issues with neither my amp or sub's.
Tbh sundown seems to have better customer service than Skar Audio

Simple black clean. You can’t call that your thing or look. I wear black sundown shirts all the time but Its not because you designed it. U got a good eye for a look of a sub. I can afford skar. I don’t even dream of sundown because of price. So it must be better because they separate by money And the competition goes unsettled and we don’t know who sounds better. Take some money out of it then it settled by sound maybe? Love sundown. Skar kicker Orion and liked the comments mostly.
Sundown may be better but the only way you will know is because price keeps us broke people out!
Sundown, I am looking forward to building a system with 2 of your SA 12's series next year. For the year leading to that, I'm just adding some bass with a >$100 10'' woofer. With that said, I'm looking at a Skar or a Soundqubed HDS2 series, to get me by. Would you recommend one over the other? Something else entirely? I'm asking y'all because you're one of the most respected names in car audio, and I'm tired of listening to random people on the internet who may or may not know what they're talking about. Have nothing against Skar but after hearing this podcast I like how y’all were transparent about what you do and how Jacob actually does R&D with his products along with providing customer service. Hey guys question..I'm not sure if I understood that right but you will upgrade us at a better rate? I just purchased 2 brand new SA 18" rev 3 sub's..like 2wks ago..they work perfectly but just not quite enough for me..I want to go ZV4 or 5 but having just spent over $750+ on the 2 18" SA sub's I just can't swing it..what options do I have? Again the SA 18"s are brand new only 2wks old and work flawlessly
If you send your woofers in due to a warranty issue or if they are blown, we give you a credit for the woofer towards the same item or something comparable. Right now the New SA18v2 are in stock and would be the next step from what you have now.

would you guys say for price of your products are better compared to skar and is it worth the difference and is it noticeable? being completely honest I love your product and I would love to Own something of yours specifically a pair of 10in X Series V2s but the truth of my world is every dime I make has to support and take care of my family first but I love car audio and whenever I have a spare dime from picking up an extra job or so I look for the deal when I buy just my two cents

Either go with the originators or the clone. I choose sundown because they put time a effort in designs instead on cloning other brand’s designs. The best set of 10s I’ve ever had were skar vvx v1 and those were designed by Jacob . The guy is a genius
I got 4 vvx v1 15s. I recently had to get them reconed by PSI cause of a wiring mishap. But I love the way those sound. My next big system I'm gonna try sundown or b2.

It was to give those who may be hard up for cash, and really like sundown a lot, to try out skar. they look and kind of sound the same, “Somewhat”. you won’t get sundown, but you’ll get a taste. Hands down sundown is better” and this was years ago, I was slightly new to it. end of the day, you get what you pay with sundown.. now to make a statement of me being fallacious while you guys resorted to ad hominem
