Thanks for that. I was in Lille for the weekend this time last year. This time I'll be taking a day trip to Arras on Saturday, but don't know if I'll have time to take in all you suggest. My grandfather probably visited Arras a very long time ago in WW1. but I doubt if he travelled by Eurostar. It's a quick trip. 40 minutes to London from where I live, then about an hour and a half from St Pancras to Lille. Hope I don't get frisked at St Pancras by French customs like last year. Think it was the chain attached to my wallet and black beanie that did for me.
