We got this by e-mail from Ron. Thx for this and hope you will be able to enjoy more tours soon! I did this Quazy rides on the first of October 2023. A very nice en impressive tour. Personal I have a preference for trips in the mountains, but this trip is very much worth to ride. Good roads. Also, a good mixture with some smaller roads.Nice views and also memorable points of interests. We had lunch in Amiens. A lot of restaurants, but very crowdy. We found a table at Le Baratin where we could sit happily together. After we had a good lunch, we took off for the second part of the tour. In the end of the tour, we stopped at the Memorial Canadian Vimy and walked through the area of the trenches from the first world war. Very impressive. A place where hundreds of thousands off people lost their lives for our freedom and now looking so peacefully and quietly. In Arras, we stayed at hotel Le Dome. A very nice hotel. I had a chamber with a double bed and a shower. Enough room and very stylish. The breakfast was good, certainly for French terms. Arras is a middle great town with a very nice center with a lot of restaurants and bars. A great place for an evening out.
Newfoundlander watching, thank-you for a lovely memorial to all that was lost. We are a tiny province, once a country of our own. We lost so many that day. Our university is called Memorial University in honor of that day of July 1, 1916. We all know the Danger Tree here in our Canadian Province.
Vimy Ridge has changed a bit since I last went many years ago now. Myself and a friend of mine went on the underground tour at Vimy Ridge, a question was asked by someone to the Canadain tour guide. The question was, "Did anything happen at Vimy Ridge during WW 2 of any significance". "No", was the answer given. My mate laughed and said to me I'll tell you later. Apparently there were 2 German generals standing by the monument. a British sniper took one of them out, the one left standing was Rommel.
