2012 CRV engine replacement

- Replacing an oil burning junk 2012 Honda CR-V engine. This engine is known for oil and cam phaser issues. Putting in a 2013 engine. Here's a few pointers and tips for doing this. There was not really any good guides that I could find so I just slowly work my way through the process.

Weird you had a lot of issues with yours. I have a 2012 CRV that I purchased new. Has over 100k miles currently and has been flawless for us. I just replaced the vtc actuator myself due to the cold start rattle but other than that it’s been a very reliable car. Very happy with it with 10 years of ownership.
I was always tempted to change the vtc actuator on my 2012 crv but just don't think I can do it myself without some supervision lol
@@Fremen02 do it. It's really not that hard. Don't remove the cams think it's better that way. You would need an extra hand to put the exhaust sprocket on though.
Hope this solved the issue. How long did this take you? Did you do it over a few days or just several hours in one day? Also where did you get the new engine from?
What you did when you got ecm plug wrong?
Can you think of any way of changing the pulse plate on the crank shaft without removing the engine?
I managed to bend a tooth while taking out the position crankshaft sensor and one quote I got has them replacing the entire engine with another engine. My 2012 crv only has 96k miles on it.

Going to replace in my wife’s car she has a 2010 haven’t fooled with Hondas much how difficult was separating the transmission and the axels did you have to use a pilot to reinstall the transmission and where did you get all of your torque settings at

Hey! Not to difficult. Just unbolt flywheel from Torque converter and the casing bolts. Remove axles with a long pry bar. I don't have Torque specs. I just used an experienced uga duga method.
Do you have any tips on replacing the oil pan? Do you know if the subframe has to be dropped or not.
If you dont mind my asking where did you get your engine from? I may be doing this replacement for some friends and am trying to find a legit place to get a decent used motor from.

Just replaced the engine on a 2007 CRV without removing the suspension, but the only way I could decouple the engine from transmisión and then couple the new engine to new transmisión was to remove the crankshaft pulley and the assembly that has the water pump and pulley tensioner together with thermostat housing, so that I had more space sideways maneuver the engine in and out.

I would say something is not connected properly. You shouldn't have to reprogram anything.
When I swap engines I have issue my rpms stays 1500 u know what to do with it?
Need to do a relearn of the throttle body if not will run rough on idle

Hi! This took me a couple days. I just took it slow so I didn't mess up!
You wouldn't have this problem if you run 91 octane. Ran 91 all it's life and never had a problem
Wrong
91 octane is not good for this engine. This is not a high compression engine.
Be more helpful to actually watch you take bolts out
