People can say that you should just have self confidence or whatever, but it's just a fact that physical appearance is probably the biggest determinant in how people treat you. It's not surprising that people are seeking to get an edge, especially in the age when everyone else IS comparing you to influencers and movie stars.

@Sarcoline this isn't unique to Australia, it's just a basic psychological fact that we compare ourselves and others with each other. The only thing that has changed is with social media, our main points of comparison have become so much wider that exceptionally fit/attractive people seem the norm.

This video will make you more depressed. Just go to the gym 2-3 times a week and eat moderately well and you will find your body attractive.

All male issues don’t get talked about enough. I’m in awe of my husbands’ resilience and fortitude.
We need good men now more than ever. All shapes and sizes.

Guys, getting in shape is actually very simple and easy, especiallywhen you are young and healthy. Noobs often overestimate the effort required. Stop looking to Hollywood actors, trenned-up instagrammers and tik tok SARM goblins as role models. Focus on compound movements, with some isolation work to target lagging areas if you have the time. Use progressive overload to improve strength. Keep your heart and mind healthy by doing a moderate amount of cardio, and don't neglect your flexibility/mobility training. More importantly than that, keep your workouts short, ideally between 30 and 45 minutes, including warmup and Cooldown. The guys that train for multiple hours a day are the ones that burn out or mess up their lives.

I don't think the feeling of inadequacy is the enemy except for these extreme cases. For most guys its your instincts telling you something, that you lack desirable qualities compared to your competition in the dating market and/or that you feel threatened by other men. I don't think counting calories is an extreme behavior unless you take it to the extreme. The dating market has become very competitive and men are reacting to the bar being raised. It feels bad but it's not the emotions fault its the circumstances that have developed in our society that are the problem.

The body became a status symbol. Status Anxiety leads to an extreme exercise regimen so you achieve your gains and be proud when you do a social comparison.

Remember back in the 90s calling this the Adonis effect. Guys would always say they wanted to be another 5lbs of muscle 💪. Already 225lbs at 6ft. I did a stint of yoga. And feel much better today at 180lbs. Better to be nimble like Spiderman than dense like the Hulk.

To be frank if you have a health diet and exercise regularly you’ll be fine unless you have an underlying health condition.

This problem is super prevalent in my country India. It is also pretty widespread in countries like Brazil, Colombia and many other third world countries.
