Love all the new electronics.
All I need now is for CAT to stand behind all this tech with an on site warranty.
The boom pushes straight back against the pivots. New Holland has bump stops behind the front of the boom relieving pressure off the pivots and distributing the load more evenly around the frame.
Man, Cat sure makes a nice skidder.

I bought a 257D. Rear and side visibility is deplorable. You can wipe your rear end with the backup camera. It can't reach very high or out very far. That said, the MTL rides like a dream. The power is decent. The controls are fast and responsive. The new decelerator option is nice, and the accessibility of the components is the best I've ever seen on any machine ever. These are easy to work on. I think Bobcat makes a better machine, but the overall support you get from Caterpillar is the best in the industry.
What is the average hourly operating cost of the new D Series over the first 1,000 hours of use? That figure compared to the other major Skid-steer manufacturer’s tells me everything I need to know.
Is cat still using the shiboura engines re baged?
Kubota provides the engines for the D series.
i really dont like trier 4 emissions. I understand clean air is very important for the earth but it rods engine power. and also increase fuel use age.
Do the cat compact track loader have a am/fm radio in the machine
Hi Austin! Bluetooth radio with microphone (AM/FM/Weather Band Receiver with USB and auxiliary input jack) is an option on our compact track loaders.
A responsible operator would be listening to the machine, especially an older machine.

Get the rear view camera
Rear vis has always been a big problem with CAT skids. Thank god (small case) for rear-view cams.

If you want to buy a bear bones skid steer that is not comfortable at all go buy a bob cat. But I will stick with my cat that is just as tough and it is comfortable.

I dont like the electronics on these machines. Look like $$$$$ that add to the cost of the maintenance of the machine. Too bad.
you would be suprised that they really dont break down much...but you are right when the do break down its really expensive.

Wow, all is well and good when these electronic systems function properly, what happens down the road, on the Job, when they malfunction !! I can see many $$$$$$$$ signs to call Cat to replace them! No thanks, Not for me!
