The 953 loader is my favorite machine, I did everything with it cut roads, strip. Lots, dig basements, load trucks, backfill basements, and finish grading. As far as I'm concerned it's the best machine I ever ran

I have a 953 and it is my go to machine, because it is the only machine I have, LOL. In all seriousness, I love it. Does everything I want, no problems with it at all.

Use to see 977 & 955 Dominate work sites for Haul outs. Really miss those. They Looked so good to me. All the 450 size really where owned by so many Company's. They had the attachment on rear for Backhoes
Thank you for showing off, all the neat things CAT has Engineered into these New ones.

I am just a fan/watcher of earth moving equipment. I recently started watching CAT track loaders. I wondered why they only had three sizes and why not have a D-11 size track loader. Then I happened to see a "presumably" 6' tall man walking next to a 973 with a full heaping bucket of dirt and that heap in the bucket was taller...dont need a D-11 size bucket yet but hey..we havent started breaking ground on Mars😊

YES. Belive me. I have worked with Narcissistic operates, you know the type. Experts on everything. Bragging all day. Gets tired listening to them dominant the work place. I worked with a know it all. I brought a scale model of a GRADALL XL 5200 to show my buddy at work. I collect scale model Construction Heavy Equipment. The know it all asked what is that, why would they make such a Stupid machine.
The know it all would always jump on the first Rental Backhoe we Rented at job site. It was so FUNNY it was a JD with JD controls. He DEMANDED to Supervise to have it Returned
( he could NOT run a backhoe that had boom/ Dipper conto on opposite sides) the super came to me and asked quietly if I would RUN it. This know it all we where just cutting down 5/8ths, on shoulder about 2 inches to pave a section of shoulder. He started plowing down about 5 feet just kept pushing more and more gravel into ditch. We wasted a whole 12 yard dump REFILLING the area. His excuse, that is what the Instructors show him at a heavy equipment Apprenticeship school. Well the idiot could NOT figure out the school instructions where for D-8 Land clearing. Yes just like you said you have to have a BRAIN to run the Heavy equipment Properly. Use you BRAIN. My gosh the NEW equipment today is so easy to run. It practical runs itself. I remember when every Big Track Backhoe had AIR/HYDRAULIC controls. Swing was forward and back. All controls where different on all machines. You had to use your Feet for some function. The Dozer had brake pedal + Steer levers, even a big clutch lever control ( HD-5) I once ran.
Even all the 580 size backhoes had different control patterns to operate different Backhoes.
Remember the INTERNATIONAL Backhoes controls for backhoe where on each side of seat, 4 controls 2 each side next to seat. All back asswear, than Case.
FORD was FIRST for me clutch shuttle forward and back it had forward and back on gear shifter on floor on top of gear case.
The swing for Backhoe was a big chain around base of boom. If you pushed lever to hard, forced it it started swing slow then swings really fast. A guy told me if you got a leak in hydraulic system. Blow a hose. The BOOM would just drop. Very Dangerous for lifting over workers. Anyway iv ranted long enough. I just wanted my fellow operates to treat equipment with respect. Like you said USE YOUR BRAIN.

@@rp1645 , you sound like my kind of guy I started at 16 years old on a '74 Dynahoe 160. I collect model heavy equipment too. I have the same Gradall 5200 that my Wife bought me. It's obviously very special to me. I don't switch controls too much on hoes myself though. I stay on Cat controls, no John Deere for me. I ran Bucyrus Erie (40-H) controls, Drott controls and foot swing Case controls, no problem.

      My GOD. I OWN a 1978
190-Dynahoe for my Retirement play toy. I call here Big Musky
because my yard is so small for my garden. And they both where BE powerhouses. I baby her. As a matter of fact. Me and wife just came in from moving bush to back yard to put Fence in front. For are NEW 9 week old mini Assy Shepard. We are redoing front yard. Have to take out a overgrown JAPANESE Maple that is to big. Worry about it moving my water service with ROOTS.
you Rock my friend with a
160 Dynahoe. I loved how they where all a main frame machine
      Backhoe is part of Frame.
Only machine that NEVER came apart with a bull prick, on.

Cat dropped the ball by making a track loader become a skid steer the 973 k i drive runs real jerky and a rough ride.

I beg to differ regarding being a Multi Tool able to do any job !!!!!!!!!!!.
We ran 955H's, K's, L's & 977Lfor years when they were the Go To Machine! and i have a Great Respect for Track Loaders -BUT !:-
They cant work out a Wet Stodgy Site without making more mess than they clear up !.
They Churn Up the Substrate and mix any rain water into it !!!!!!
They cant Reach like an Excavator.
    The Excavator can:-
work back out of a wet site
can dig off to level leaving a weather Guard Surcharge if necessary
    Doesnt shake your bones out
digs with ease instead of Track Slip
    Can:-
    Trench
    Riddle
    Screen
    Grab
    Hammer
    Shear
    Load
    Level
    Grade
    Demolish High Buildings.
Excavator just Tracks into position and Swings its weight smoothly around loading or Segregating into Skips etc hence negating Dragging its 20 ton plus Mass around in soft miring Fuel sapping ground.
Hate to admit it but The Track Loader is really confined to Steel Mill Applications nowadays
