Presentation by Dr Layla Aitlhadj (Prevent Watch)

This presentation was recorded as part of a joint event organised by BRISMES and the Critical Studies on Terrorism BISA working group entitled “Terrorism, counter-terrorism, and the permissibility of violence”.
Dr Layla Aitlhadj is the Director and Senior Caseworker at Prevent Watch, an NGO that supports individuals impacted by Prevent.
Dr Aitlhadj talks about the suppression of freedom of speech and how Prevent is used to suppress pro-Palestinian activism in particular. She gives some background on what Prevent is, how it fits into counter-terrorism strategy and why it is so relevant today.
