Kevin, do give us more of your homespun philosophy, quirky insights on life, and personal anecdotes. That's what sets your channel apart from the myriad of worthy boating channels.
Hi Kevin and finally after watching what seems like zillions of your videos, I'm finally writing. As I mentioned to you via another platform, I'm not a seasoned narrowboater, my experience is mainly of the North Sea out of the Tyne as a fisherman and sea angling boat operator. However I have to agree with you and many others that the Middlewich Branch of the Shroppie is a beautiful and calming experience. If I never went on any other stretch of canal, I could be happy just chugging along between the Wardle and Barbridge. Your videos have always brought me calm and relaxation in these testing times and I also agree wholeheartedly with you on your views about the last couple of years. I thank you for proving to me that I'm not the only one who thinks similarly. Take care for now and I'll be eagerly looking out for your next offering. No pressure eh?! Cheers from Bob in Geordie land.
The boat names you highlighted were just “spot on!” I enjoyed them greatly. And that comment, “I can control the boat much more fluidly when I’m on it,” that play of words had me smiling. You did get some gorgeous spring filming, a pretty week indeed. So now I’m left to ponder, what was Kevin thinking about with the thousand yard stare? And, why did he leave us with that last shot? (That’s not how I described it the first time I wrote it;) That second question could be anything from the metaphorically sublime to, well, we’ll leave it at metaphorically sublime. More entertaining thoughts until I see you next week. Hope you don’t mind a little joking, and lifting a cup of tea to you from here. Thanks for another great vid!
That was a very enjoyable jaunt on the canal with you and Aslan, Kevin. Thank you for the lovely spring scenery, the blossoms were lovely and I love seeing the swans and ducks too. One thing I particularly noticed was the contrast in pace between the serenity of the canal and the rush, rush, rush of the roads. I know which one I prefer! Looking forward to watching your next video. I’ve nearly caught up! Bye for now.
Delightful canal journey, although a bit noisy due to traffic. You know you’re settling into the boating life when you define the time of day as “still light”. ☺️
I get so much pleasure from your canal journeys in many ways but one way in particular. Due to Sepsis I have lost my balance and can only move any distance outside the house with the aid of some kind of wheely frame. With your camera and all that you have to do I get the same sensations of moving as if I WERE moving. It is amazing and very very satisfying. Bet you never thought you were giving people like me a dose of excitement and physical satisfaction in our trying circumstances.
Great cruise and interesting contrasts. The whole section from Middlewich up Heartbreak hill , through Harecastle Tunnel is fantastic and so much less crowded than the Shroppie route north/south
Cheers. Yes what struck me was how infrequent the boat traffic was, and the remoteness of the surrounding landscape, even a couple of miles from a huge town like Kidsgrove.
Indeed, I often think I would love to buy a nice, slightly fancy wrist watch. But I'd never wear it cos I try to avoid 'time', so would be a waste of money. 😁
The morrings next to the allotment are awesome it's a bit tricky with the fenders but once you get that sorted it's okay........ It's nice to see other people enjoying the same spots that you have enjoy the rest of your trip..👍👍
What a relaxed way of life Kevin apart from unruly outspoken Middlewich kids !! They always hang about around there being an absolute pain ! You are so polite and calm, again must be the relaxed lifestyle 😌 thanks for the vlog Kevin and keeping us up to date !! Put you tin hat on going through Stoke 😑😑😳
Your love for pork pies is legendary. Your love for a chicken vindaloo almost as much. Wouldn’t worry too much about the chimney, you aren’t the first and won’t be the last. One of the perils, I imagine. Anymore cooking coming up? Always a treat. It’s great to see you happy on the cut. Cheers Scott
Growing up in the UK , a comment like yours about children would have got a laugh. I live in the US now and used it a party a few years back and got asked to leave ;-) it made me laugh so keep it coming …
Pretty, yes, very much so. The word that kept popping onto my mind is cheery. What a lovely episode. Its very cool that you got so much help from viewers! I wish I could, but thanks to all of them that did. Enjoy!!
Evening Kevin " SUNSHINE ON sunny days" haha!! Thanks for video. We loved the improvisation with the black bag..... very "upmarket" as we would have used an old carrier bag 😄 love the scenery and your sence of humour, you do make me laugh, you will never know how that has so often lifted my spirit and left an inner smile so..... "CHEERS TO YOU KEVIN" keep smiling, keep safe and keep travelling. Flossy & Jan x
Hi Kevin This is Groovygail from California..love your videos..look forward to them each time they drop..I am an expat and just seeing the beautiful countryside makes me feel less homesick..please keep cruising..you make me laugh out loud often.. My son knows when I'm watching a new video because he can hear the chug chug of the engine, so he fires up his TV and watches too 🥰 Thank you
Hi Kevin. We cruised past Aslan on the T&M last Wednesday (April 13). You were moored up in the mile long gap between the two chains of locks. We were a bit star struck to see your famous boat. The last frame of this video is where we moored up too, albeit going in the opposite direction. A lovely spot it was. We enjoyed a long sunset and watching the trains go by. Thanks for all your videos. You're a natural broadcaster.
was feeling a bit stressed but went to a Good Friday service this evening and came home to a new video by the man himself…cuppa a tea and feet up lovely…👍
I don't believe they haven't fixed that edge at the lock landing it's been like that for months I passed that in December and the was a holiday boat moored across it of all the places they could have stopped they stopped right there🤯🤯🤯🤯
Now I know how to build my chimneys just in case I need to defend them against an invasion of screaming chipmunks from Normandy! Thanks for, Kevin! Enjoyed every minute of it!
Great photography Kevin. I really get feel of the beautiful/tranquil countryside and never tire of it. I must comment on the amount of exercise you get climbing on and off Aslan and opening all the gates. You truly get a work out! Thanks for the ride Kevin and Happy Easter! Cheers!
I simply must compliment you on your scene composition and editing prowess. I have been following you since your first season, and you have constantly improved and refined your video storytelling skills. This latest tour is a very fine piece of work. Well done, Sir.
Great job going through those narrow locks. Great to see the springtime weather. Here in KY. It is almost warm. Lots of rain and wind. I long for a warm sun on my back. Thanks.
Shakespeare said that the child is the teacher of the man, but unfortunately, until children experience things, they can't exercise the best judgment that we use as adults. Sometimes you just have to shake your head. Just consider what you are experiencing as the adventure of the possible on the canal. It could be good, it could be disappointing, but it will be another memory to add to your collection of cruising the canals. The joy for me is getting to join you on your trip through your videos, so I feel it is a win/win situation.
Good One Kevin! Just hanging out with you while you go through your locks listening to Aslan’s engines and your occasional voice guidance. I know an older professional woman who married a guy with younger kids “ You need someone to wipe your arse when you get older” no doubt 😃🍀👍❤️
Hi, NBWill, thanks for your vids, always interesting, your reflections on life, your information on the cut and surrounding area. I probably should write more comments that I do. We are a couple of months from leaving Ohio to join all you narrowboaters for couple of years on the canals. Thank you again, look after yourself. Colin and Heather
Kevin, enjoying Your adventures and the English countryside. Even if the countryside is industrial. The way it goes sometimes. Sorry to see Aslan got damaged, you’ll make it right. I like signage some vessels have, very cool. Take care. David n Pam
Aslan strikes again, when I see your film pop up, i wait eagerly till bed to watch It, and yet again whilst listening to Aslan's engine I fall asleep several minutes from the end.... I would be nodding off at the helm 🤣😂🤣 excellent work as always Kev man, this new series is just what this screwy world needs, perfect for peaceful relaxation, thank you very much and please do continue making this amazing series.
Loving the comments about your twin....I was watching late last night and thought I was too tired and just seeing things. Glad to know my eyes weren't playing tricks. 🤣 Wishing you well at Easter and always.
Thanks Kevin, another relaxing Vlog ! Time for me to wake up from my Idyllic snooze-n-cruise ! Naah ! I'll just play the Vlog, one more time (only !) ! Honest ! Stay safe ! Stu xx
Nice ,casual ride along the canal. Glad the kids didn’t do any damage . Love the sequencial views of the lock. It felt like being there in real time. You certainly get a great workout with all that hard work ! ❤️
Good Evening Kevin and All who read this, picking up the feeling behind "No Particular Place To Go" ......much contemplating.....I thought I were not greatly attached to my flat, but it does bring me a level of a sense of security in familiarity. Having no geographical stake does it bring a freedom, though in my mind it takes a special level of self strength and greater reliability in your Being and Soul, so emphazied by going alone in such a journey. How you fair and think your way though this you good CountryHouseGent? Many thanks.
First ..Aslan really is looking great..and as always sounds great to.Very pleasant listening to your boat chugging a bit louder than my Bassett hound snores! Lol..😊 Enjoyed the vlog as always.....hope your Easter is pleasant!😊 Its nice to see how comfortable you are cruising the canals..Your very nice company.....😊
Morning Kevin , another excellent and funny episode! Thanks for the mention and it was a pleasure to assist you through the locks - stay safe , we sadly are at the end of our holiday now .
You’re obviously enjoying being out and I am jealous and wish we were on the cut, too. Dr.Syn is still in Garstang for a while until the skipper is fit again, so your excellent videos are a pleasure to watch. You were very polite about the kids…….!🤣
Thanks for another lovely vlog Kevin you are doing a good job as usual take care now hope you get a restful Easter Ann n David🐣🐥🐣we are not boaters just oldies who luv watching you
I hope you have a nice Easter, Kevin. I really enjoy the videos; it's a great way for me to travel without traveling. Your voice is a dead ringer for Wallace of Wallace and Gromit. Could you say, "It's cheese, Gromit", in one of your next videos?
Kevin, do give us more of your homespun philosophy, quirky insights on life, and personal anecdotes. That's what sets your channel apart from the myriad of worthy boating channels.
Agree, wholeheartedly.
Perfect 👍
That was nice of your twin Kevin 2 To help with the other gate.
😁 He has his uses.
Even when you are going slow and no where in particular we like the journey. Leslie
"I like children but I couldnt eat a whole one!" I love it Kevin! Your production editing is the best too
Thanks,
TC

The only TH-cam channel i press thumbs up before i watch. It’s a lock ( no pun intended 🧐)

Soooo, the more viewers you have, Kevin, the fewer locks you have to man handle! Niiiice!!
Indeed. At this rate there'll be enough soon to station one on every lock. 😁 🤭
Delightful canal journey, although a bit noisy due to traffic.

ha! Your blurry bits make your helpers look headless - or like citizens of Minecraft. :D
Spring is in the Air 🌞
Sure is. Definitely warming up. In fact, I haven't had to light the fire for a week now. 🙂
Wonderful just wonderful

Kev is the best. Instead of cutting the film, he just left in the change of plans.
Pretty, yes, very much so. The word that kept popping onto my mind is cheery. What a lovely episode. Its very cool that you got so much help from viewers! I wish I could, but thanks to all of them that did.
Enjoy!!
Thank you Mary. Yes I'm pleasantly suprised by the general scenery and location of the T&M so far.

Luvely to see you enjoying salf on the canal
2nd camera - I see you! Helps it a lot! Also split screen on the paddles. More trick stuff. Really like it.

"I've no idea what time it is..." The perfect way to travel. Beautiful countryside. Thank you.
Cheers Dennis. Yes indeed. Never keep my phone with me now when travelling, or wear a watch. Quite liberating.

That's fabulous and rewarding to hear. I put a lot of thought and creativity into the videos. 🙂
Good morning dear fellow!
Cheers Kevin and a hearty fist shake and "bahh humbug" to those rock throwing grubs.
Hi Kevin and a wonderful cruise today thanks. Great scenery on that part of the canal with spring in the air. Keith M Australia.😂
Love the shot of the two yous working the lock. The neatest thing I've seen in a while.
As an American watching your channel I just love seeing you cook. The classic English dishes you do are amazing.
I'm amazed at how he can keep his boat from grazing the walls in those narrow locks.
Great job going through those narrow locks. Great to see the springtime weather. Here in KY. It is almost warm.
Lots of rain and wind. I long for a warm sun on my back. Thanks.
Thanks Suzanne. Looking forward to that intense sunshine as well.
First time seeing your 'twin', very nice to see him giving you a hand at that lock ;-)
Herz und Seele .. the heart and soul..of England..
Lovely cruise. So nice that people helped you. Enjoying the scenery and love the sound of Aslan chugging along❣️
Kevin, what a clever use of having 2nof you opening the lock! LOL

Enjoyed the ride Kevin, glad you had some help with the locks, (PRETTY NICE) loved it. C U Soon, Charlie from Pennsylvania
We cruised this some 12 years ago and must agree, it is a lovely canal to cruise, locks and tunnel included!
Loving the comments about your twin....I was watching late last night and thought I was too tired and just seeing things. Glad to know my eyes weren't playing tricks. 🤣
Wishing you well at Easter and always.
So enjoyed cruising with you today. Very peaceful and I thank you for it. Safe travels.
Loved the double screen side by side shot, that was cool. Wish more boaters could get that creative with there vids... CCHHEERRSSSSS
I loved how you cloned yourself to work your way through the one lock. That was almost as awesome as the thousand-yard stare!
Just what a canal vlog should be for me thank you.
That looked a nice stretch of canal. Nice enjoyed it as well. Thank you. Take care and stay safe 🌷😊👍
Had me going there for a moment with the double exposure/ doppelgänger on the lock closing. Good one!

A Blessed Easter to you, CHG🌷🌺🌸☘️
