I have viewed this little film several times and absolutely love it. It takes me back a good number of years (about 60) to the days when the UK was full of dance halls and much more civilised.
C'est plein d'humour et très agréable à regarder. La morale de cette belle histoire, c'est que le garçon qui a "snobé" ces deux danseuses est un âne...

Le tango Argentin nous donne les plus grands bonheur, avec aussi des moments de grande solitude pour les danseuses qui sont ignorer, ignorance qui s'accentue avec les années qui passent. Un jour dans une milonga où on ne me connaissait pas je suis allée au hasard inviter un danseur, et j'ai renouveler mes invitations. Au final j'ai dansé tout la soirée et depuis je n'ai cessé d'inviter les danseurs débutants ou confirmés sans avoir eu aucun refus. Le tango Argentin me fait m'enlever dans un état d'extase.
Muy buenas milongas a pesar de sus años son como el buen vino entre mas viejas se escuchan mejor, y las parejas exelentes pasos con sentimiento verdadero muy acople con las hermosas damas, el tango es cultura echa poesia viva y actual nunca morirá un buen baile ni la música de la milonga
También soy argentino y no lo veo en absoluto como un homenaje a nuestro país. En el mundo el tango se escucha, se baila y se toca porque gusta. Y eso es más satisfactorio que cualquier "homenaje".

Haha! Then I saw more into this Film Short than I was perhaps supposed to. I saw lust, passion (between wanting stranger couples), fleshy legs, and amazing feet strapped into neck choking dance shoes. I observed hope & hopelessness with a the desired chance of an encounter. I saw our featured girl "take the tarty lemon" that life threw at her that day and "make lemonade" out her situation. That, my friend is Tango. I too shall dance tonight!

A woman can reject anyone's invite without giving any reason. So this young girl in the movie is in fact quite polite: she points out to her wrong shoes (giving a reason, albeit a fake one). Needless to say, THE SAME goes for men. Any man can invite or not invite any lady he wishes, and he is not obliged to dance with every woman in a milonga, UNLESS he is an instructor, and every woman in the room is his student. Then, yes, he is expected to dance with all of them. So, what this guy does, is ok, yes. He is not obliged to dance with everyone (and with anyone particular), just like a girl is not obliged to dance with anyone. If the authors of this movie think he/she has any obligations of this sort - they misunderstand the whole concept of social dance. And not just tango.
Ce film m'a rappelé des souvenirs...amers! il y a 2ou 3 ans de ça...(j'y suis pas retourné depuis) impossible d'inviter une danceuse, j'ai essayé tout ce que je savais, cabaceo et pas cabaceo...rien à faire ! mes 2 amis de Grenoble qui m'ont amené ici, eux y arrivaient...avec certaines. ils m'ont expliqué que les lyonnaises, c'était très difficile de les inviter...il faut les connaître avant !!! faut venir souvent, et que notre visage leur soit familier...!!! une avait mal aux pieds, une autre avait mal ailleurs, une autre était fatiguée... mais le point culminant...une superbe danceuse, qui a fait une pause, était au bar, après maintes tendas. Elle a accepté que nous dansions à la fin de son verre. Moi, en retrait, j'attends...elle termine son verre, elle se lève, et danse avec son ami. C'est pas une blague! j'ai juré de ne plus y remettre les pieds, à tango de Soie.
ça serait plus réaliste...je te fais un aveu de plus : des lyonnaises ailleurs, c'est le même cinéma tu sais...d'où êtes-vous mesdames ? - de Lyon qu'elles disent... Alors je rigole. On me demande pourquoi je ris. je réponds que je les reconnais parmi tout ce beau monde...ça les fait sourire aussi. :-)
En 10 ans de tango, en dansant 3 fois par semaines, pratiques et milongas confondues, en France et à l'étranger, (ça en fait des tendas) j'ai dû essuyer quelques refus. La part des Lyonnaises est de 100% . Mais dis, si ça se trouve, les 2 ou 3 autres fois, c'étaient aussi des Lyonnaises ? Tiens, je vais t'en raconter une, elle est bien bonne ! Dans une grande milonga, une demoiselle refuse mon invitation ! Très bien...Quelques mois après, un gars de notre assoc de tango nous dit qu'il sort avec une DJ Lyonnaise...il l'amène, et maintenant elle anime nos milongas des fois...c'était la fille qui m'avait refusée...si quelqu'un à une explication sérieuse je suis prêt à écouter. Pour ma part, je crois qu'elles se font des films. Ou alors c'est un problème de sociologie, un genre d'hystérie collective...

Regarding cabeceo I'm in a group in Atlanta and we have been taught not to dismiss a man but to be polite if we don't want to accept his invitation and because I can't even see some cabeceo looks from across the room I usually always accept an invitation unless I'm tired and would like a break but then I say, I'm taking a break right now but I'd love to later on. Sometimes I'm asked again, sometimes not but I've been polite and hopefully not upset someone.
