Unpopular opinion but I hope SM brings back the Jicks once the current Pavement live dates wind down. I love Pavement but Jicks were great in their own way too.
BRO BRO BRO, I was so confused. Thanks for commenting this. Was it on another album too? I freaking live for that song. Just ordered that album on vinyl and I'm chuffed about it.
@@yutiful That's the only album I've seen it on. Yeah I loooove that song, my favorite on Traditional Techniques (although I love 'em all). So mind blowing it's here too. (Oh, if anyone sees this thread in the future, the video description used to say "33:40 Flower Children", now it says "33:40 Flowin' Robes", the eventual real name of the song).
@@yutiful Hmm yknow, my guess is, he only had a few lyrics written at this point, and he's making up the rest of the words on the spot, here. He was probably like, "this audience doesn't know english anyway, they won't know the difference!"
I do too... Love Waterslide that is, but Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks I quadruple double half twist front. wait. no. back flip gainer love.... so really really really really really Dig!!!!! Dig?
Trying to decipher Stick Figures in Love lyrics at 30:33 (and Jagger definitely has swagger): I was at the market in St. Petersberg, I was Mick(ael) Jagger Seaside, No one with swagger (??)
Stephen is not the most known musician in France, and a lot of people at this festival are actually listening to his music for the first time... sadly.
He changed the lyrics a lot: Houston Hades sounds better on the record. Every pS a wee joy. Truck huggers/gun muggers (?) Now yr going to have their babies NO!
It's official -- SM and the jicks are DOA. it's a long time since pavement. everyone move on. nothing to see OR hear here. the movie has long been over and the credits have rolled past.

At least there's new music that way
The shot at 28:37... LOL (During a lovely "Asking Price", I might add.) And Jake's serious look afterwards... Priceless.
Definitely the best version of Brain Gallop I expect to ever hear. And it is one of their best songs.
One of my favorite malkmus guitar jams. Wish it were a lot longer.
At about 57:00, they insert a New Order song - the Age of Consent - into Us. It sounds quite sweet!
At about 59:00, they insert a Can song - Mother Sky,
They go full Grateful Dead there……awesome.
mind blown -- "Flower Children" ended up on stephen's "Traditional Techniques" record, 8 years later!

@Epyo I noticed the lyrics are different too! I've been seeing 33 all day BTW

What a perfect time of day to be inspired-amazing!
Stephen's solo in "No One Is (As I Are Be)"... Beautiful.
ikr, he has soul.
The solo starts so mellow but it gets a little raucous. It's amazing, so much better than on the album.
Wow 28:38 great shot
I miss Bob Nastanovich.
59:00 j'aime ce clin d'oeil à CAN (Mother Sky) de Stephen Alain avec la baassiste....Joie live
Sound quality on this live recording is amazing. So often, they are trash, but this is great.
I think this is the first full Malkmus+Jicks show on the internet. Thanks for posting!
Merci pour cette petite pépite! L'humour de malkmus est toujours aussi appréciable!
The Malk-man delivers.
Thank you sir. You are good of lad.

thanx a lot for posting it
I totally love your Jicks live videos! Huge kudos man
I dig Houston Ladies. Thanks for the upload, liked hearing these new songs.
however many cylinders they have they are firing on all of them here. by my count there are eight and a half or more.
Thank you so much for this!
Great show, thank you! ;-)
Their last albums and his solo outings are all fine but I'll always go back to Mirror Traffic. And Pig Lib, then most of SM and FTT.
awesome
Love that dude at 15:00. That would be me.
32:48 Joanna VIBING
(37'02: Enjoy the Nirvana tribute... ;)
Excellent show, i loved it, thanks! :-)
He's playing a Gibson SG, a rarity for Malk.
Steve is playing his Guild S-100. Mike is the one playing a Gibson SG.
Wow the lyrics for HH are really different here, glad they changed it.
Planetary Motion sounds really good. So does everything else, but this is an especially good song.

Hey he plagiarized Nirvana at 37:15 - and I feel fine.
He changed the lyrics a lot: Houston Hades sounds better on the record. Every pS a wee joy. Truck huggers/gun muggers (?) Now yr going to have their babies NO!
L'omelette du fromage
Someone has a foot fetish.
Am I alone in wishing he’d thrown a pavement song into the mix?
Yeah, probably, because this isn't Pavement, this is the Jicks.
@@MrIhatethisprocess hey smartass, I know that. But they do play pavement songs too.
