It's funny I had picked up the no dig border last week & before I started my project, I found your video & it's the same type of project I'm planning. This was awesome & helpful. Now I know better what to do. Thanks so much!
This is awesome!! You explained everything so well!! And you just saved my back!!😂 I was looking for a video that showed me how to lay the stone without cement. Thank you!!!
It's a 10 and you helped me figure out what I need to do. I think I am even going to shovel out all the old mulch and maybe even put down the fabric, too. I will try that edging and I like how you showed it an go over grass.Tthanks :)
I just saw a video with the quickrete and thought how nice it looked and seems easy to do. Then I saw your video with no concrete and thought even better. I shared both videos on my Pinterest page. I think you did a great job, thanks for sharing 😁❤️
So, I came in to take a break from my yard & now you just sent me back out to it. LOL! You just saved me from a huge mistake. I have been trying to figure out how I wanted to finish off the landscaping in my front yard. my yard slopes downward from the street to my house, so as you can imagine, when it rains hard the water pools on my sidewalk by my front porch. This is a much easier & cheaper way & I will have to improvise some, but I think this vid just solved my issue. Thanks again! The past few days I have been learning a bit about trees. I have a few that were planted to deep & have been removing soil and all so I can get the flare of the tree above ground, like it's supposed to be. Have a great day & take care.
REALLY like this super simple, no concrete, idea! Esp if we wld wanna change the border shape, blocks, etc. That way we're not stuck w/ it forever. I'm def doing this👍 we have brown mulch now but I'm going to do red this time for a pop of color. Fabulous idea!!!
Thank you. Lol I felt the same way about the red mulch I loved the color of the red color contrast but wanted a change. I also used to use the white rocks as a border every season refreshing the rocks but got tired of them spilling over into the yard. This look is 10x better to me especially from a curb appeal standpoint. I appreciate the support good luck your project.
This is my first time watching you. I enjoyed how you looked for an affordable and easier way, to make a not so nice front yard look absolutely beautiful...now I can see there is some hope for me trying this idea on my hilly front yard bed...Thank you and God bless you and yours...🌳
that looks awsome. id say 9/10. I have seen other people put the plastic edging wall behind the rocks to give it a more streamline look, but this looks amazing as well. congrats and thanks for taking the time to record, edit and upload this video. it was SUPER helpful
Not bad but I think I prefer the cemented border, it will provide more stability when the lawnmore and weed wacker come into play, I guess it's a matter of preference.
1000/10 Wow 😮 that front looks amazing i thought the red was nice but that brown is beautiful 😍 those stones are definitely the cherry on top its a nice color contrast especially against the house great job man i love to see it ready for more #tunedin
@@LawnAmateur for my plants I've never used the plastic cause I plant too many. I did put the bedding stuff that's not plastic for my rocks in the back. Well I had no idea weeds would grow through.. now it's a hot mess. Next year in going to cement that crap up in done with that maintenance..
@@LawnAmateur considering you have bushes.. you could do a tight bunch that has a flower or caladiums red ones would look so so nice. Mine are annuals cause I like to change up the colors. Make sure you bring it forward. Small flowers in the front. Also, I use black mulch too makes everything pop.
I noticed your beautiful lawn. I would like to know more about what you did to get it to look as it does and what you do to keep it looking beautiful. Thanks.
Thank you. I have a bunch of lawn videos on my channel check them out I go over a bunch of things on how I started my lawn from scratch to maintaining the lawn
You definitely get a 10! I bought those same stones from Home Depot but I do the red mulch! The dark is nice but it looks like dirt in my opinion! Adding color will make it look better I’m sure! Anyways, nice work as always! 👌🏼🤗
I did the red mulch many years ago and after just one season all of the red dye used in the mulch washed away leaving the remaining mulch looking like crap. I learned my lesson and changed to cedar chips. These cedar chip look great for years, never deteriorate and smell great too.
Looks good, it looks 10 time better then before; however, you may have issues when you mow close to the border and your mower inadvertently moves the stones. Securing the stones long term will decrease your future frustration. I am experiencing that right now, super frustrating..! Lol...

Looks great. My only question is... why the weed barrier? I understand having it under the bricks, or having it under rocks. But putting mulch on top of weed barrier will only keep weeds from growing from the dirt. Weeds will still grow on the mulch as it decays. I would recommend not using a weed barrier here and instead just sprinkling "Preen" on your mulch as needed. Still... awesome job!!
Thank you. Thats exactly why I put the weed barrier down because the weeds were growing very quickly from the dirt and so far I haven't seen any weeds grow but I do like the idea of throwing Preen down on the mulch
I loved the red mulch look for years but It was time for a new look. I had it for 8 years lol. But I appreciate your support and go for it it'll definitely give you a whole new outlook.
Thanks for the vid. I’m interested in how’d it put up with the elements over the past year. Was any grass able to migrate over rock border to mulch bed. How the weed barrier persevere.
It's alright. I think if you have invasive grass (e.g., kikuyu) that barrier won't hold well (as the rhizomes will get in between and underneath). A second issue may be lawn mowing, or whipper snipping- I'm not sure if that plastic barrier, or the stones would hold up/move- but you could tell us your experience with that
20 my guy I will do a no dig border on my property only the old owner overfilled the beds with pebbles and they are spilling out a lil so Ima get most of those rocks outta there and do the no dig boarder and maybe get some dark color pebbles blessings to you brother

9, I don't like landscape fabric because perennials have trouble spreading, and if I use bulbs, they can't pop through. But I liked the way you arranged the blocks and didn't use concrete as some do that don't alternate the shape patterns.
Thank you. Yea there's pros and cons to the fabric use. And I definitely didn't want to use concrete just for future purposes incase someone else doesn't like the design it can be easily changed.
This look good, 10 for sure, where did you get those rocks from ? also you might want to switch from mulch to rocks because they never lose there color, Mulch has to be added every year.

No you don't have to remove any mulch. Occasionally you'll probably have to hand pull a few weeds here and there. My last mulch bed didn't have any weed barrier protection and I would just pull any weeds out that would start germinating. I hope this helped
Looks COOL! However, you should add more mulch to give the appearance of more DEPTH and dimension to the overlll flow. AIGHT! If you add more mulch and change the color to BLACK, I will give you a 10+. The Black mulch would give the landscape a dramatic and elegant look, and it will increase your home market value!
I made a 50'x3' flower bed in the backyard, which wasn't easy, but I used black mulch and it absolutely pops! I don't know why more people don't use it.
