If I have to pick two highlights from this fight it’s the following: When Aquaman comes to realize how lame he is compared to his many incarnations he’s miserable and SpongeBob has the opportunity to add salt onto the wound and destroy him but no he looks at him and says: “Believe me man I know how it feels to be looked down upon to be teased and bullied.” And the second part is when Aquaman is about to die not only is SpongeBob upset that he killed him but he draws a gravestone to honor him. This moment perfectly represents SpongeBob’s character: He may be annoying and not very bright but you know he means well and wants the people he meets to be just as happy as him, make them feel better, so that last scene made me shed a tear as it felt wholesome to me. I say all of this because what separates Death Battle from other VS shows is that they make sure to capture the heart and soul of the character: the voice, their personalities and animations with reactions they would have in their worlds. And you can tell how horrible and heartbroken SpongeBob is as he clearly didn’t want it to be this way but in a show where characters fight to the death he has no choice, it’s one of the very few times where an incredibly powerful character regrets killing their opponent.

I feel kind of bad for SpongeBob, seeing how he didn’t really want to fight him, but Aquaman kind of started the fight after getting teleported to Bikini bottom which is why he was so sad in the end when Aquaman died because he really didn’t wanna kill him, which is the problem when you have characters like SpongeBob on channels like death battle, where they make characters from different franchises by each other because character like SpongeBob wouldn’t be trying to kill them, but they still probably defend themselves and fight back against the other character, but it’s death battle so obviously Aquaman dies, but when it comes down to it SpongeBob want to kill him and they both understand each other, which is why SpongeBob made him a grave with the pencil
