And here there was some jerk commenter, on the video where I found your comment linking to here, saying that metal BBs could never be shot through an airsoft gun because "the nozzle would instantly explode as soon as it hit anything other than plastic." Yeah I don't think he knows what a nozzle really does. And he was using that rhetoric to "tear down" and mock everyone else, calling them slow and saying they'd obviously never touched an airsoft gun. I've never seen someone so efficiently disprove their own argument with such brilliant and ironic ignorance of basic physics while claiming expertise and being an ass. Appreciate the test, was curious how damaging steel BBs with the same joule power would be compared to plastic. Seems like those people at 878 brought a different kind of air rifle if it was actually going through clothes (especially since they may have snuck on the field in the first place), if that's actually what the holes were from - there would definitely be a welt for each hole. The other complaints may have just been an illegally OP sniper with heavy BBs, or maybe ceramic which would be easier to sneak in with than steel (tho there are painted aluminum BBs apparently). Hard to say what really happened that day but I've enjoyed the curiosity rabbit hole. And thanks for verifiably putting that trolling kid in his place, if indirectly 😂
Did you ever see such a unit yourself or do you just believe the only video in the entire world wide web, showing a FAKE 1000fps airsoft gun which is impossible to reproduce ? Do you barely even know HOW LOUD guns get at 1000 fps ??? I have modified a MilsigM6 HPA gun I use for target practice to shoot at 674 FPS with steel BBs and IT'S LOUD !!!!! Like HEAR PROTECTION LOUD...Check my videos...It CANNOT PASS UNNOTICED and THERE'S NO CHANCE it would get into any field...Also because it cannot be tuned on the spot...You literally need hardware you cannot hide or bring with you in a professional field since you won't pass any CHECK... BS.
With a 6mm .20 gram bb you're looking at 1.55 joules, with a 6mm .88 gram steel ball bearing, no idea, would depend on barrel length, Co2 or green gas and condition of the main seal. I know if I run 6mm .45g bbs in my VFC 19x they joule creep the gun to 1.2 joules. Running .28g it shoots 1 joule on the dot or 330fps with a .20g bb. My guess would be the heavy steel would be about the same or less. If you're talking about a .177(4.5mm) cal bb pistol, a copper bb weighs .34g. At 256fps your pushing a little over a joule of energy. Due to the smaller size though it has a greater concentration of that energy and will do more damage. You'll penetrate skin at 410fps with a .177 cal bb but, it still will not shatter eye pro. It will simply gouge it.
