- My recent trip to El Salvador was an amazing experience that helped me learn that the country is very different than I perceived beforehand. This clip covers my time in San Salvador, Suchitoto, Lake Suchitlán, La Libertad, Santa Ana and Lago de Coatepeque. My still photos from El Salvador are at flic.kr/s/aHsmVM8KhY on Flickr.com.

You have to visit Alegria is a small town high up in the mountains, you see the clouds below. There is a volcanic creater.

Thank you Thomas, I'm from Santa Ana and made me very happy to see my town. We are working to make El Salvador better with the help of God, starting with the best world class education for our kids and taking care of our elders who are the best part of our culture. We have a lot to change in our country but it will be better. Please comeback and stay in ATACO for a few days in any little hotel and enjoy fresh organic food and nature. Take care.

I miss my beloved country, I miss cuco and tuna beach in the orient region , san miguel ,the best beaches in el salvador. I miss fry fish and some local beers. bless from LA.
Thomas, you did not visit the orient region of el salvador. .San miguel is the second most populated city in el salvador now very hot region, but it has the most awesome large beautiful beaches of el salvador. cuco beach , las flores , la ventana beach are great for surfing.
I can certainly understand why. I want to get down to La Union and the islands when I get to go back.

BTW, Salvadorans don’t llike to be pestered by hagglers and it’s probably the same reason people leave tourist alone. I hope it never changes.

EL SALVADOR IS RANKED THE 3rd. (PLACE) IN LATIN AMERICA WHEN IT COMES TO HIGHWAYS AND ROADS.
Wow. Not sure who number one and two are, because they had the best roads I've seen. The road from San Salvador to La Libertad was particularly excellent.
Nice video. Just a note, the reason why there are so many stands in front of the church and city hall in Santa Ana is because the local market caught fire a couple of months ago and so the city has allowed them to set up shop there temporarily.
That makes sense. I noticed the building next door had burned. I hope they can rebuild it.
I was also wondering why those small businesses where all together in temporary structures. I heard they gave them money and there's a new $5million public market coming.

I loved your video and Thank you for your comments about El Salvador I am glad that you have a good time during your visit I dont know if you have a chance to visit El Cerro verde where you can see and climb 2 of the most famous volcanoes Izalco and Santa Ana just close by to Lake Coatepeque. I so wish my trip had been longer. I must go back again, because there's so much to see and do in El Savador!

It is usually foggy in the mountains during winter (rainy season), especially in the late afternoon. The hike to the Santa Ana Volcano is REALLY worth seeing. It is absolutely a "wow" view you would hardly see from other volcanoes (you can see the green lagoon of its crater, several other volcanoes, mountains, the lake of Coatepeque and the Pacific (I really recommend it if you come back). The best time to see El Salvador completely blue is December-February). Great video!

It's great to see the point of view from a non Salvadorean , I am Mexican and have visited El Salvador twice and will be going again in September and I totally agree with you, I felt just as safe as when I visit my own country.
El Salvador is a really under-rated destination. I will be back for sure.

My parents would be so pleased to hear you loved their country. It's truly a small gem in Central America. Almost everyone flocks to Costa Rica because it's well known but El Salvador gives it a run for their money.

Juayua has a beautiful waterfall that is about 30 minutes from the plaza. On sundays they have food fair, so it's perfect after you been swimming and hiking.

It was amazing seeing the park where I just have an ice cream after school . Lot of melancholy, due to my parents never went back. We left the country 1980. .
