Bukele is still the current President. And yes, the country made a 180 degree turnaround in terms of safety. 5-6 years ago you would have gotten jacked and this video would not exist.
ProTip: (lol) when eating a pupusa, you leave it on the plate. the curtido (cabbage salad with vinegar) can be on the side or on top and with the red salsa. you just rip a piece off and use it like a tortilla to pick up the curtido with salsa. They are amazing! I hope they will have more traditional restaurants in the historic center one day but mostly what you find are the pupuserias everwhere in El Salvador and they love tacos too which can be even better than what you find in Mexico. Check out Antiguo Cuscatlan if you have a chance it's a cool little pueblito with a few good restaurants too.
Nice vid. That was brief but you covered well. People look super friendly. And...can't wait to get down there and work with Bitcoin :) Keep on rockin Bukele!
Congrats to President Bukele. -A- The only true law and order president in the all of the Americas (North and South). Some talk law and order, but seldom practice it.
There are 50 cent & $1 coins in the US, they just arent used often. As a kid i collected them and would get them from the bank same with 2 dollar bills. Technically legal tender but mostly for collectors.
It has been awhile since I have followed your travels but i am right back into it now. You are my trusted travel channel. I like that you are taking us to countries that are off the beaten path. Dont stop. All this footage is so great
Its changed a bit since I was there last year. Glad to see they finished the library and put in a pond and finished work on some of the streets. The coins are US coins but you don't see half dollar and dollar coins that often in the US.
LOL...those are legit U.S. one-dollar coins, they never went over well here, but El Salvadorans love them. I was in El Salvador in 2019 and have good friends there. Should you need assistance or ideas of what to see? Feel free to reach out. El Salvador is a great little gem of a country I'm sure you will find all the locals extremely friendly and open to tourists.
I am so glad to see how things are in El Salvador now! Twenty years ago, I lived in Santa Tecla and taught at the ABC school (K-12). Santa Tecla was safe, but San Salvador looked very different - we only went shopping there in the daytime, and it did not look this nice. It's time for me to visit again. Thanks for this video and the trip down memory lane 🙂
Sly you gonna get into the Eco Tourism side of these places? Would love to see some of the jungle and some of the natural beauty of these countries. Its usually cheap.
Pupusas are the greatest! I heard it was a little more expensive there than the rest of Central America. The food looked about the same price as Nicaragua. Were the rooms in hotels/hostels more expensive?
Ok! I gotta admit! I really like watching your videos eating local mom and pop foods! Your Brave! Me, Flying for a major airline 30 years, they stopped serving us fish because the crew started getting sick. You’re doing what I wish I could’ve done ✔️ but too scared to do! I really enjoy your show. Good job and more adventures down South America.
To eat my pupusas I put the curtido on the side of the plate and pour some salsa over it, then I cut a piece of the pupusa and pinch pick with it the curtido with salsa. The dollar coins were minted in the U.S but never used them I think. You think they would reject payment with them?
Yeah I was born there in 76 lived in us since 80 but I've been back few times and recently last year . going back March 2025 and it's awesome parts of it look very classy & fancy. Recommend for first timers go to El Tunco beach it's alot of fun & hip.😊
Funny that you didn’t even recognize American coins. Like many have already said in this comment section, I also collect the 1 USD coins and the many different types of 0.25 USD coins.
Thank you for beautiful video! I like that in your videos you show the streets, and the surroundings of all the places you visit. You might want to try in El Salvador or Guatemala "empanadas de platano con leche o con frijoles". both are good. also try "yuca con chicharron" usually after lunch or starting at lunch. Besides Brazil, Ciudad del Este in Paraguay has some good deals for clothes in the mercados.
The blue with red flag was Belize and the other flag was Guatemala. Those are the flags of Central American countries like on Nicaraguan flag it has each star representing each country in Central America and the unity that once was intended but Nicaraguan stayed true to the idea.
I truly enjoy your channel Sly. I’m developing a bit of a fetish. I love to watch you eat. You start smiling and I just know it’s delicious 😋 wishing you continued safe adventures for 2025 and beyond.
Se me tio en las zonas que todavia no se an recuperado de comerciantes callejeros pudiendo estar mas tiempo en las zonas que ya se recuperaron creo que handavas perdidos
Yes bro you can use those coins 🪙 in the USA 🇺🇸 they’re regular dollars I spend them all the time. BTW thanks for sharing this video. I’m heading there soon and get to see and learn a little before I go.

When evil is pushed back, peace and prosperity begin

Trump is the talking one, won't do sh*t about crime (and yes, I know Biden was even worse).
@@PutlerHuyIo No arguments from me on that one. In fact, we are in agreement. Furthermore, it's hard for a criminal to say he's for law and order.

Spain needs a Bukele. What a great man!
Everyone stuck making 1200 euros a month 😂😂
Those U.S. coins are most definitely legal tender in the U.S.
$1 coins and $2 bills still exist.
Great video mate, enjoy your stay in El Salvador!
Sly they use the $ coins. Because $ bills would get worn out to fast. It is the same in Ecuador.
Its changed a bit since I was there last year. Glad to see they finished the library and put in a pond and finished work on some of the streets. The coins are US coins but you don't see half dollar and dollar coins that often in the US.
You're going to see Real Madrid and FC Barcelona jerseys (which were to the right of the Yankees shirt you saw) more than any local club.
Those US Dollar coins are collector items in the US.
how much do collectors pay for a single dollar coin similar to the ones Sly got?

Effort leads to success.
Hope you can revisit our country you will barely recognize most places.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Come to Belgium one day 🇧🇪 Sly!
Good stuff
El Salvador does not have its own coins. Those dollar coins are legal tender in the US but we rarely seen them in the U.S.

good to see looking up...! heading to Ecuador.

I got some of those dollar coins out of metro transit machines for change in the U.S. They are 100% legit and accepted.
U.S. needs a Bukele.

My friend the city? Go to the beaches and mountain hiking tours. Nice volcanoes.
You need to go to La Paz Bolivia, and make a video that would be freaking awesome
Bro that kid chasing the bird was hilarious.

There's just a pipe sticking out of the middle of the street 0:13
I'm old. Dude we use those coins here. You should have just left as a tip.
Current President not former President
Those are US coins that are not used in the US. I lived in Manta, Ecuador and you see those one-dollar coins all the time
The blue with red flag was Belize and the other flag was Guatemala. Those are the flags of Central American countries like on Nicaraguan flag it has each star representing each country in Central America and the unity that once was intended but Nicaraguan stayed true to the idea.
Please Lord protect Bukele. If El Salvador can clean up the crime so can the big democrat cities in the US

Why you keep calling it soccer is call futbol worldwide you travel all over the world 🌎 you should knw better man 💯
He's American. In the US it's called soccer ⚽.
When an American says football, he means NFL football 🏈.
When you speak Spanish, I give you permission to call it _futbol_
He’s in the Americas continent here n Latin America is call futbol not soccer
Straight and left they told you to get lost. Also, as a member of crips you are risking to get put into prison.
Is he in the crips ?
