Awe, I love the Grimm Brothers and HC Andersen stories. Reminds me of my childhood :) Please, pray/send positive energy to my friend D.Levakovic who's in the ICU now with a severe infection. (I think it's Sepsis). She's in critical condition, she's been ill for a long time, but got worse. In advance I thank you dearly, thank you Oddie, hope you are doing well 🌹
I've long believed these type of tales were meant to scare children from wandering off and behaving too badly. Very nice rendition, I hope I find more.
Never have i heard the story of "Hansel & Gretel" like this. The proper amount of unnecessary cruelty overshadowed by love and loyalty. I would be so excited for more stories such as this one You have a gift darling, one disappears into your stories.
I'am 56 years old and I remember having a Hansel and Gretel book when I was a little girl. I really enjoyed listening to your version (the witch's gruesome screaming was very well done!) The artwork was amazing as well!
04/10/2018 🌹Thank you so very much my dear Oddie 💓!! The whole story was fantastic & I absolutely love your superb talent in doing different voices; especially the evil witch!! 😨 Everything you touch is a masterpiece!! 🖼
I loved this story! I’m almost 70 years old and for a short time , I’m five years old cuddled at my mothers side with my sisters listening to her read this story to us, feeling scared and excitingly thrilled at the same time, thank you so much for the memories. Love your channel so very much!!!
"her wart covered, greasy head..." Ah the visual. Again, loved the cat prancing about. My mom adopted a little stray dog several years ago and named him Hansel because she trailed food scraps to her door for him.
Very nice. When I was a child, in the 60’s, my parents still had the original version of Anderson and Grimm fairy tales. Those were tales to make you tremble in you covers till you fell asleep! Don’t take it easy on us, Oddie, we can handle it!
Oddie you have really out done yourself this time, simply fabulous pictures and the music! I'm going to to show this to my grandchildren they will absolutely love it! Thank you for all the time and efforts you put in on our behalf!
I cant get over the stories and the historical knowledge they hold . I listen to one a night and it is my form or wind down at night . All I can say is from the imagery created to historical photos and clips pure genius and each tale enjoyable every time .
Thank Oddie...as usual great job. My father's mother was a Grimm. I believe she told me that The Brothers Grimm and her branch of the family shared the same grandfather. When my father came to the US from Germany, he brought the old copy of the Grimm's Fairy Tales that had been in his family before him. I never learned to read German, but I can remember that some of the illustrations were pretty gruesome. Hansel and Gretel has always been a favorite tale of mine. Can't wait to see what you do next!
Oddie, my grandmother had an old un-bowlderized book of all the brothers Grimm stories and many were indeed grim. I remember in that book Cinderella's stepsisters each cut off part of their feet to try and fit the slippers and the prince spotted the blood and knew neither was the right girl! Thanks for bringing back memories of Grandma and for another great narration.
My goodness! cut off part of their feet?? I didn't know that - these stories must have been really quite frightening for children; but somehow, even when we're young....we just love a scary story!
Yes, my grandmoher was Irish and was not shy about giving us scary stories. Her fairies were not cutesy little things, Every time there is a high moaning wind I remember her story about the bean sighe, the wailing woman who announces impending death
Angela Chouinard Oh, you read those versions as well?! You're right. The original Brothers Grimm were grim and could be quite frightening. But they were so good!
Oh Oddie, I absolutely loved it. I am almost 70 years old, and it was wonderful to listen to it. I haven't thought of the story in years. What a joy , just loved it. Thanks so much. hope to hear many more.
My favorite Grimm story, I have always loved stories of children conquering evil adults(Roald Dahl). Beautiful illustrations shown as well.. especially the black and white one of Hantzel and Gretel by the fire in the woods... thanks for all your videos!
Actually that black & white illustration is one of my favourites too - it captures the eeriness of the forest at night and the movement of the smoke from the fire perfectly.
Thank you so much Oddie! My childhood was filled with my beloved BRÜDER GRIMM. My favorite one is defenetly ROTKÄPPCHEN. I live in the forest... not scared at all. Quite the opposite is the case : I love it... ! Taking walks there everyday and charge the batteries to deal with the society. Thanks Oddie!
That was AWESOME! Thank you, Oddie! As usual, exquisitely done. The visuals are always beautiful, and this also had amazing music along with your brilliant narration.
That was wonderful. I loved the pictures. I do like the Brothers Grimm and read many of their stories as a kid. I tended to the less known ones but that's just me. Thank you again for all the hard work you do to bring us these gems.
Your description of your mother reading stories to you reminds me of how my father delighted in reading to my sister and I when we were little. It's such a wonderful memory!
I've just discovered your channel and I absolutely love it! One of the stories that could fit into the manner of your channel is The Little Match Girl. I was absolutely devastated after reading it at the age of nine, cried for days.
You are truly a wonderful storyteller!!! You are so creative. The graphics were awesome and I loved the cat running across the forest 🌳. Your ability to awe us time and time again is refreshing. Please, continue with Brothers Grimm and other fairytale’s as well. Hansel and Gretel is one of my favorites as well.
Your videography was truly frightening for a younger child. How nice you thought of them too, Oddie. I recall being scared to death being in my bed reading these stories. I'd thumb thru the book for the most frightening pics and read that story. Grimm's-A classic even today.
Love your narrated stories! So glad I found your channel. Cant sleep with out my bedtime story, Hansel and Gretel was just perfect . Thank you for all the hard work.
Keep it up. I love those old fairy tales. I grew up on them.... only back then I listened to them in my native language German. it's a lot of fun to listen to the English version.
Oh wow! This and Hop o my thumb are my favorite stories from childhood. For a Christmas present in 1978 my parents bought me a Fairy Tales book and this story was in it. I still have that book! Thank you for this!
I happened upon your channel by chance while looking for something different - and I was not disappointed. I love your channel, and I’m absolutely addicted! They’re a great after a stressful day. Thank you for all your hard work. Please keep uploading. Your work is truly fantastic.

Definitely more ORIGINAL Grimm's tales please. Love it all to be fair. Another great one! I enjoyed this very much, just wish I could support your channel, the day that I am no longer poverty stricken myself, I'd be happy to help! Thanks Oddy! Yeah, think that they did this to keep the kids from wandering into the woods... 💗
One of the stories I grew up hearing, yes I was told the old version and it was scary back then too. I was always taught this story was made so children would behave themselves. Lol. Scared us straight. Keep them coming, in awe of your historical stories.
This was absolutely delightful!! I would LOVE to hear more....specifically...if you would like suggestions...Snow White and Rose Red....and the 12 Dancing Princesses! Love, LOVE the Brothers Grimm!
This was amazing! You made me feel like a child hearing the tale for the first time. Please make more please. You are the best story teller. You do a great witch by the way.
Ol' Dad got off easy lol Love this story. Loved your narration. Great job I've enjoyed your channel. I had a big sister (big brother/ big sister) owned a dinner theater. I loved all the plays n story books she introduced me to. RIP Joan Hensley.
Thank you for this! I hadn't had time yet to watch but I had such a rough day today and couldn't wait to snuggle up in bed and hear your soothing voice telling this story reminiscent from my childhood! Took my mind off of all the stress and worries from my life! Love your channel and your style!
This was oh so fantastic!!! I used to have a book with Brothers Grimm on one side and flip over for Hans Christian Anderson on the other. I remember how creeped out I got reading The Red Shoes. How she didn't do what she was told with them and couldn't take them off and danced till her feet were raw and bloody!! I love ALL that you do. Just fantastic how it's done as motion pages and not like a movie. Way more ominous to me. Like being spooked alone reading a scary book or hearing creepy noises. And I'm in my 50's. Your artistry is so better and beyond slasher films. Thank you so much. Great great work!!!
Hello sir, just wanted to say you did a wonderful job. I found your channel recently and am quite pleased with your narrating of your videos. I watched a few of your older ones that were not and I must say, your voice is perfect for narrating. Thank you for taking the time to put these together. "her wart covered, greasy head..." Ah the visual. Again, loved the cat prancing about. My mom adopted a little stray dog several years ago and named him Hansel because she trailed food scraps to her door for him.
Cool story!

This was also my favorite fairytale when I was a little girl. Thank you! ❤️

"Were going to abandon the kids in the forest because I want more food!"
"Ok, but tonight were watching the game."

He wasn't going to turn down his only meal! LOL OMG
Maramilana Witches control their men; the Kardashian women and Hildawhore are 2 examples.
