Clear out project is exciting! I’m in the process of something similar. Can’t wait to see your videos on it. I haven’t seen this movie yet but I guessed the twist as soon as the review started and you showed what it’s about…ugh. I have this in a 2-pack with Brainscan so I’m stuck with it lol
Oh, what a shame. It's one of those films that most of us have only ever heard of, but never got to see. I guess some things are best left as a kind of mysterious obscurity.
I feel the same way. I quite liked the start and even the ending mad me chuckle, but the bit in the middle was a bit of a slog for me. It was about half way through and it suddenly dawned on me, oh god, it's this Mindwarp!
One of my personal favorites. That ending is rather effective , with a great monologue from Tall Man. I don't know what you expected from a Fangoria production, sounds like ur expectations were too high prior to watching. Those Italian post apoc films of the early to mid eighties are goofy costume parties when held against this flick... maybe try another watch sometime. The first few scenes are somewhat cheesy, for sure. But consider the subgenre, and its early concept of virtual reality in the plot. That was 1989 or 90. Also, it's early KNB effects. It was filmed at a stone quarry and a high school gymnasium. It doesn't spoon feed the story like some movies can. To discover that she's been on a virtual trip hosted by her dead father's program is quite original. You claim you saw that coming? Are you sure you didn't read a few spoilers ahead of time? That's a huge plot twist to figure out in bee first half of the film. But hey, I believe you.
I thought it was rather obvious that she never left the VR. She talks to her mum saying what she wants to experience. Pugs into the machine and then that all happens. World on a wire did a similar thing where the character didn't realise they were in a simulation. Total recall played with that idea as well. So did The thirteenth floor, Dark City, Identity, Secret Window.
I got the Eureka release too and God i hate these obscure movies you may as well look at the box art, then think to yourself what the movie is about and move on, i was thinking a movie about a corrupted VR system where people in the real world are being killed and it's because of Lovecraft type monsters infecting the system, what we got a helpless stupid actress bumbling in a wasteland then spending the rest of the movie on a cave with actors wearing terrible fake masks with the most stupid plot ever.
Yeah, it's utter garbage mostly filmed in a quarry. Eureka are better than this. Have you seen tech-horror Pulse from them? I think it's a great slow burn, but would love to know your thoughts!

You got to wonder if Neill Blomkamp watched this then made demonic, because that film feels like what this movie should of been.
Oh good point, although I wasn’t much of a fan of demonic either.
Yeah watched it on TV years ago after a night out. Nothing works and you can't even laugh at it, if I recall.

I actually got pulse along with this in their recent horror sale. I far preferred pulse. I have a review that’s ready to get posted soon
Look forward to it! I remember watching Pulse as a kid and not sleeping for weeks as a result!
