Im just starting to ride again after almost 15 years. My first day in the park I kept popping both wheels at once, and not going very high. After watching this video I started practicing doing front wheel then back wheel (even just over a crack in the sidewalk) and that was the biggest help to me. By the end of todays session I was bunny hopping properly over a line of water bottles (standing upright!). It's not huge but it's big for me! Thanks for the tips!
Wow I'm a skateboarder and just learned how to bunny hop in 5 minutes thanks to this video. It's just like the Ollie but with body weight instead of legs.
Been skating for 10 years but shattered my ankle so I got a bunch of metal in it and no full movement so I bought a second hand bmx to have something else to ride and strengthen my ankle
Try jumping objects it works start small It helps to make yourself lift higher it works for me and I can’t bunny hop too high I hurt my back on a bad landing 😞 but I love bmx 🤙
On 4/4/19 was the happiest day of my life, I had a Walmart bike and when I was riding down hill fast and the chain popped off I fell off then the bike the just ate it. So as I was walking home I see this bike on the side of the road that was box, so ask a neighbor if it was anybody’s bike and he said so no and let me keep it. Right now I’m fixing it up 😃
My problem is that my bunny hops are actually too high. I easily clear anything I try to hop (garbage cans, 12 stairs, moving vehicles, national monuments...) riding has become stale. Is there any way to make your bunny hops lower to the ground?
+Poppa Punker put less effort in the height and power you put in the bunny hop to go so high but more in the technique that way your bunny hops will look a lot better but they're lower
+Poppa Punker don't shift your weight as much really. For me the height of the front tire, which pretty much dictates how high youll prob be jumping, make it not go as high as you probably do. So once the front is like a couple inches off the ground starting picking up the back. The back can only go so high before your nose diving.

You have to picture your bike moving in a rainbow shape. When you are in the air push the bars forward and if you have enough height your bike should naturally pull the back wheel into the air following the rest of the bike through the rainbow shape. If you are just lifting the front wheel, maybe you have too much body weight forward and bending your arms, which will just make the wheel slam right back down quickly. You can also use the rubber grip on your shoes to help lift the bike with the pedals
@@davidrivera6465 He should be able to do it with a heavy bike because its possible to do it with any bike. When he's older he'll buy a lighter bike and do it even better because he had to learn on whatever he had available.

Itz Muneeb lifting the back wheel is the hardest thing to learn..but I think I can help..if you can get the front up which almost anyone can manage..sometimes it's easier to learn how to get the back wheel up by riding fast over a driveway or curb incline..because if you relax and just hold onto the bike and ride fast over the incline and put your feet level the bike will do all the work just when you jump the incline level out..meaning center your weight on the bike..once you can do that you will almost automatically subconsciously feel what you need to do..because the incline jump will cause you to lift the front and once the front is up level out your feet as your rear tire leaves the incline and push out or forward on the bars a little and your back will come up..hope this helps..

First time viewer. Pretty awesome. I'm a beginner, in the biggest way. We have a great dirt track in town and I've been there twice. Haven't fallen yet, which I'm happy with. It's a pretty crazy obstacle track on a hill. The big challenge for me is that my right leg is amputated below the knee, so my seat has to be very high to compensate for the limited knee movement. Of course that leg has less power too. We built a special prosthetic to allow a bit more movement, but still quite limited to about 90°. We're going to work on a mechanism to attach to my shoe, but currently (when not in lockdown) I'm just using velcro stap my foot to the pedal. Here's the question, should I give up on trick biking and stick to track, or do you think I can pull some moves off? If you have any advice or recommendations, lemmie know.
You wanted to talk about yourself and asked a question nobody can answer or theyre gunna give you a obvious blanket answer which it depends on your skill level and what you're comfortable doing and even more obvious everything takes practice.
Well explained...now everyone can bunny hop over a truck!...Seriously, very detailed, as I had to learn by reading an issue of BMX Action '84, back in 1984! At 50, still riding!
Thank you, this video helped me a lot. I was sure I couldn't do a bunny hop because of the weight of my bmx but yesterday I saw this video, today I went out and hit my first little bunny hop. Now I'll work to do it better but thank you again
DazViktor and also do punch your toes down. At first you might only be able to get it it one inch off the ground but that's fine. Keep practicing it and get comfortable and then hopping higher will get really easy
This was really good, you seem like a patient dude too! Thanks man. I’m 44 and loved this. As I need to learn so I can teach my son. (Ex skateboarder and aggressive online)
Literally me. I broke my arm the first time I got on a skateboard. It slid from under me and I fell on my arm. I wasn't even trying to do a trick. I am actually having pretty good luck so far in BMX
Micah Opseth go to a skate park or find a bank somewhere and work on pulling up out of the bank then it'll throw you and you practice leveling out then take that into your flat bunny hop
The thing that he said at the end was so true this has really helped my confidence as a totally new rider and aster like 10 minutes of trying and failing I finally pulled my handle bars up really excited to keep going and learn so much more. Thanks so much 👍
Go up to a wall and get the wheel stuck there next you should just use ur toes aim downward a lil bit then push back and push forward and handlebars you'll soon get the hang of doing it without a wall
Rxx; A bunny-hop is a basic lever action You might have learned in school actually if You want someone to explain one, otherwise, I’d say that YES it actually does take some upper body strength and upper body mass in order to pull one, but it involves these steps; Coast at a steady speed, set your pedals level but bend your legs because you need to think of a bunny hop as building momentum to go “upwards” so do as he said but crouch low, then in one swift movement- pull your bars back, then jump as high as You can, but pick your bike up into you as you level the bike out and allow your bike to lift and shift forwards, then prepare to land like you would simply jumping from a curb. Hope I helped.
holding your wrist on the bars a little down is how i broke my wrist. came from a turndown and the majority of my weight was put on that wrist and it just snapped, so that's a good thing to keep in mind
Maybe u were weak boned idk. I had a friend that broke his wrist doing a foot jam tail whip. The risk is always there. And you always come back stronger js!!
Not a failed skateboarder been there done that :-) great fun. My kids are getting into BMX so I want to show them how liberating a free style sport can be e.g.: skateboaring, bmx, scooter, rollerblading. (yes in that order) and I will only show the first 2 :-) This video is, imho, the most instructive and most from the beginners viewpoint... great job.
Hopefully this guy knows how by now but if you get the front wheel up and as soon as it's on the curb you shift forward you'll get the back up with out hitting hard and popping your tube

P.S I’m not a Bmx rider but here’s some tips 1) Maybe you don’t have a Bmx bike 2) try just lifting your back wheel up 3) Try watiching more videos on this 4) Don’t get frustrated you will lose your confidence and give up. Hope these help
Now I'll work to do it better but thank you again
i have some problems getting my back wheel up, I NEED SOMEBODY HELP!
make sure your arms are straight and you are leaning all the way back, then just push up and out
The Meme Informer ty m8
DazViktor np
DazViktor and also do punch your toes down. At first you might only be able to get it it one inch off the ground but that's fine. Keep practicing it and get comfortable and then hopping higher will get really easy
pnani lk ye dude, i have finally got the hang of it!

That would be awesome if they did
ADAM NOTICE THIS COMMENT xD

Eric Lara it tooks 5mins for me.
Eric Lara 1 minute for me
Dude it’s common sense... you pull up. Not rocket science
That is your problem...
I learned in a few mins 😂
This was really good, you seem like a patient dude too! Thanks man. I’m 44 and loved this. As I need to learn so I can teach my son. (Ex skateboarder and aggressive online)
"failed skateboarders who have moved onto bmx" lmaoo so true
Me.
+Jackelly me :( xD
Literally me. I broke my arm the first time I got on a skateboard. It slid from under me and I fell on my arm. I wasn't even trying to do a trick. I am actually having pretty good luck so far in BMX
+Vince Vlogt same lol
I want to do both
I am 100% a failed skateboarder

I learned how to bunny hop in 5 minutes. Thanks to this video.
This was helpful thx. I’m 46 and just got my first bmx. Huge thumbs up
I still can't get my back tire up. I'm doing what he's saying it just doesn't seem to be working. Can someone give me some advice?
Micah Opseth go to a skate park or find a bank somewhere and work on pulling up out of the bank then it'll throw you and you practice leveling out then take that into your flat bunny hop
Try to push forward and move your weight to the front while bending your knees
Practice putting pressure on the front wheel, which would indefinitely lift the back wheel uo.
Up*
Micah Opseth well how bout this jump off your peddles but leave your hands on the handles then pull your bike up
it works!
my biggest problem is I can't lift the handle bars high enough to be able to push forward and mack the back come up can someone please help me
Nate Shovelton same
Nate Shovelton don't be scared
NGS pull harder and lean back a little bit
try to pedal slow and bend your elbows then pull
try using s bump or something of the sort to get your bars high enough. I used the ledge going into my gararg.
I didn't fail skateboarding. I failed bmx in the 90's when there were no TH-cam tutorials. LOL! I'm ready to try it again. Thanks for the tips. :)
“I promise that’s not gonna happen to you”
Why did it happen to me...🤦♀️😭
I’m a mountain biker and I tried a bunny hop on my friends bike and went flying off the back end

Lol me 2
I have a bmx sized mountain bike, will this still work?

+Adam LZ when did you start doin BMX what age
+Adam LZ will it still work if I don't own a bike lol
+EveryDay Bmx can I do it on a Walmart bike 😎😎
The thing that he said at the end was so true this has really helped my confidence as a totally new rider and aster like 10 minutes of trying and failing I finally pulled my handle bars up really excited to keep going and learn so much more. Thanks so much 👍
3:20 is where i cant 😭😭😭
Go up to a wall and get the wheel stuck there next you should just use ur toes aim downward a lil bit then push back and push forward and handlebars you'll soon get the hang of doing it without a wall
Grommet31 thank you

THANK YOU

When i try getting my back wheel up,im shifting forwards but the bike is just shifting forward with me,the back wheel isn't getting up
Try to jump forward slowly on your pedals and point your toes downward so you can can pull up the rear.
Emilien Gosselin ill try
Rxx;
A bunny-hop is a basic lever action You might have learned in school actually if You want someone to explain one, otherwise, I’d say that YES it actually does take some upper body strength and upper body mass in order to pull one, but it involves these steps;
Coast at a steady speed, set your pedals level but bend your legs because you need to think of a bunny hop as building momentum to go “upwards” so do as he said but crouch low, then in one swift movement- pull your bars back, then jump as high as You can, but pick your bike up into you as you level the bike out and allow your bike to lift and shift forwards, then prepare to land like you would simply jumping from a curb.
Hope I helped.
ty bro i just tried bmx'ng and i have had one for 3 weeks and i already can do a bunny hop much love
Nice video helped alot
Sauf glucagon neuve BFMTV hihihi ngkjgkihfi
I'm having trouble combining the manual and stoppie. Can anyone help me and is anyone having the same problem?
Eliza Burton, lifting the back wheel up.
Me too I am having trouble with that to
I love you,re video
if you are doing a manual put butt really close to the rear wheel
I think they have fixed that bug already
holding your wrist on the bars a little down is how i broke my wrist. came from a turndown and the majority of my weight was put on that wrist and it just snapped, so that's a good thing to keep in mind
Well u did a turndown not a bunny hop
And to do a turn down u have to go a lot higher there for the force would of been more on ur wrist and snowed the bone
Maybe u were weak boned idk. I had a friend that broke his wrist doing a foot jam tail whip. The risk is always there. And you always come back stronger js!!
he didnt tell you to land like that dumb asd he said to just practice pulling back
+Timothy Clark well ur ass is huge then
Not a failed skateboarder been there done that :-) great fun.
My kids are getting into BMX so I want to show them how liberating a free style sport can be e.g.: skateboaring, bmx, scooter, rollerblading. (yes in that order) and I will only show the first 2 :-)
This video is, imho, the most instructive and most from the beginners viewpoint... great job.
"If you're watching this you're probably a failed skateboarder" - too true
Nah I just wanna try to bmx a little bit
Amen to that
+Beatrice Brown I am a super good skateboarder
Adam: I promise that's no gonna happen.
Me: *dying in the hospital*
I just want to learn how to get up a curb on a bike 😭
Russell Ne You just lift the front wheel over, then the back just rides offer it
Hopefully this guy knows how by now but if you get the front wheel up and as soon as it's on the curb you shift forward you'll get the back up with out hitting hard and popping your tube
I just build speed then do a little wheelie at the last second and lean back and you should be up it
Russell Ne just pull the front wheel up
Just lift your front tire your back tire will bring it up by just rolling it
Your so brutally honest... I love it
