- Another in the our occasional series of synth jams, where we put together a few items and have a bit of a noodle. This time we are using the Soma Labs Pulsar-23 Drum synth/machine, the Doepfer Dark Energy, the Bluebox from 1010music and the Arturia Keystep Pro.
Incidentally, we grabbed a batch of samples from the Pulsar to upload to our Patreon - where you can get hold of them, and the stems too.

I know what you meant - and what you DIDN'T mean - when you said "I've got the clap" but it still made me giggle like a schoolboy.
Wow this is aweseome... The Pulsar-23 keeps entering and exiting my radar. It's back on it again thanks to this.... Even with this traditional feeling jam.. This also puts the KeyStep Pro on it. I haven't seen much need to replace the original keystep I purchased, but that is because i have other sequencers, but nothing focused on drum sequencing. This puts it together quite well while offering a bit more flexibility for other parts. Anyway, this was very inspiring - I like the slow jam vibe and I may think about something akin to this with Tom, Erebus, and Hydronium.
Very nice job as always and very much appreciated what you do, giving us all something to thoroughly enjoy while going through this, as you say, prolonged less than ideal period.

was my first analogue synth so been a handy way to learn , stepped up to the subsequent 37 now, but will experiment adding the extra voice to it.

Many many demos on TH-cam are not very inspiring but Nick never fails to deliver. Lovely track. Reminds me of late 70s/early 80s industrial Sheffield electronic.
Gotta love those little black (blue) boxes. Even the old SM Pro Audio V-Machine.
Second that, that little blue box is ideal for my corner desk
that snare / clap / rim thing sounds absolutely fantastic

great like always. so my question is, do you find that the pulsar 23 has a limited sound set or can you get infinite tones out of it. Like the bass drum. I have watched a lot of vids on it, and it seems like the kick drum has only one sound. same with all the sounds. or is it possible to really get a lot of different tones and sounds.. like will it do a ride symbol?

Wow you can kind of see the limitations of the keystep like touch mod/bend things. If Nick struggles anyone would.
Bought my dark energy 1 around the time the 2 came out (my first pure analogue synth).
It was to prevent me getting into eurorack. but i just cracked this week and bought my first module 🤦🏻
Managed to resist for a decade though, that’s got to count for something!!!
But alas now I am doomed 😔

@@canecreek00 Dunno. Just one day no sound. Probably have to send it to doepfer for repair. Great little synth. I have the dark time as well. Good combo

@@roysummers1026 what version is it? The first one has a CEM3394 which were known to suddenly die for no reason.
