It’s a huge honor to get to work with Soma like this and release the Pulsar-23 Andrew Huang Edition! link.perfectcircuit.com/t/v1/S0BERUlFSUBFR0RDRktATEpITA?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.perfectcircuit.com%2Fsoma-pulsar-23-andrew-huang-edition.html For a more in-depth video, check out the one I made on my second channel when the Pulsar first came out: th-cam.com/video/RL336-rgT7g/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching today!
That is a fantastical piece of gear. Love the custom edition you did with SOMA. This is officially on my wishlist. I’ve been rocking the Arturia Drumbrute Impact. The Pulsar-23 looks WAY more fun and customizable for drum/bass tracks. 🤘🏼
Great choices for both color and knobs! There’s a reason road signs are black letters, yellow background. That’s the easiest color combination to read. The knobs keep the party going by looking better and being more functional. (You can easily get a snapshot of all of the 600 knobs at a glance.) I like the other colors, too. Yellow is the best one yet.
The video gets the creative juices flowing for what a person can do with the tools one already has but hasn’t entirely explored. Wave shapers, DFAM, various retro drum machines, noise, envelopes, distortion, fx, etc!
This is beautiful. The last comment about not being sure if you would ever be able to buy one and now you're getting paid (technically speaking) to show it off and it's a custom version collabbed with you. Full circle, bro. That's wonderful. Flow forth.
Eyyyy, seeing "WEIRD GEAR" in my notifications brought a smile to my face. I'd love it if more of these episode get made Andrew! Regardless, keep being awesome and making cool noises! (P.S. It's your fault I recently got into Eurorack... My wallet would like a word with you lol)
Ha! Me too! I discovered andrew about a year ago through rob scallon and love the channel! But my cheap broke ass can't afford that much into gear when I've alreadu got guitars, basses, keyboards and software to maintain and upgrade, so i just went the free route with vcv and cardinal. My wallet (and my wife) is sighing with relief about that decision, but I'm having an absolute blast with it.
Eric Synths style knobs! Dope vid. I have one of these too (black one), they're so sick. Got the Lyra-8 too. Crazy thing is you can sequence all that stuff in the unit itself. The looper/sequencer is so dope.
Little tip for the "circuit bending" patch points: The capacitor (mark with 0.1 and 10) can be used like a sort of pulse to trigger converter (0.1 works better)
This thing would be so much fun to play with. I'm not usually into more gear, but the hands-on patch-by-skin-contact nature of this makes it really appealing.
Your tracks and content recently have been some of your best! I'm curious how your process has shifted in recent months. How are you coping with your partial hearing loss? Have you brought in anyone to help with production, mixing, mastering? How have recent life events changed the way you work, the way you play, and the way you feel music/art?
dude this pulsar 23 makes me want to curse like a sailor because this thing is effin insane. i have wanted a drum machine just like this, and while i knew this existed i didn't realize what it was. It's pricey but not undo-able, tho sadly I doubt ill be able to get your edition before the sell out unless I can get it on the used market. Luckily they make a few cool colors! Definitely grabbing one over the summer
Didn't realize how massive that amazing device is until i see you holding one and having a second right next to you... Either way want want want... 💵💵💵
Got a voyager when i started producing and didnt feel in need of any other analog gear besides distortion pedals ever since. Until a friend of mine got one of those
You can get patch cables with plugs that also have sockets so you can daisy chain. Using posts seems like a weird choice, they could have stuck with sockets and just included a big bag of pins that you could plug in to achieve the same result, which would give you the best of both worlds. When you hit on that bass sound it almost sounded like you were about to play the mission impossible theme tune.
Damn, great demo and seems like a great product. how i whis that id had the money for it. but my question is, how did you get that cool vocal sound? what effects you used? thanks Andrew
Amazing presentation of the Pulsar-23! I’m like this close to sell my Kurt Cobain Mustang to get this beast! And congrats on your Edition of the Pulsar-23! 🙏🏻
Awesome. Any plans to work with a Canadian retailer for release? I do believe PC ships up here, but their $2250 USD MSRP is about $100-150 CAD more then MSRP up here after conversion, plus no getting dinged at the door by customs. I've been pondering a Pulsar for awhile and I think it's going to be part of my tax refund splurge this year - I was aiming for the blue one, but if Moog Audio or L&M happen to carry this one, well then :) Great stuff! Also great to see new people exposed to this madness, welcome people!
That’s bizarre about the conversion, though I guess the Canadian dollar has been particularly bad recently. I’m afraid this was a Perfect Circuit initiative so it’s exclusive to them!
@@andrewhuang That makes total sense; plus I did get their email announcing the exclusive this evening. I'd also be curious like other Canadian creators if most of your audience - just by pure population volume, is from the US. So I get working with a great store like PC :)
Interface makes a lot of sense and seem loads of fun, too bad there isn't an equivalent for less metallic and distorted sounds, if that's what you're into.
Soma make some amazing machines. Just really well-designed and well thought-out devices with unique looks and sounds. (I'd complain about them being out of my price range, but at the moment Behringer gear is out of my price range, so it's a bit academic.)
killer review and tracks/beats/song/bleeps and blops. I already have one, otherwise I would get your custom version, it looks killer and those knobs are dope. sometimes it is frustrating and then it will sound like 100 machines at once. you have given me a few ideas to try out. and that light thing is insane as well as the sequencer. I have to get those.
What a wonderful, inspiring machine. Touch panels AND being able to connect signal jacks with your fingers? It all looks so intuitive like you become part of the machine when you're experimenting with it. If only I had 2200 Dollars to spare...

Dang, I didn’t know Andrew was so good at bass house! I really want to see that released one day.
Def gonna put it out when I finish it up!
@@andrewhuang Looking forward to listen the whole track!
@@andrewhuang Guy, this isn't a track i beatport right now?
@@andrewhuangcan I send you a free device to look at?

man i'll never get tired of watching Andrew make cool noises with dope gear. half the time i dont even understand what's going on, but i love it
love the song at 4:52! like a mix of modern pop and old uk bassline. love the combination!
My brain told me I was clicking on an episode of Bad Gear, saw Andrew, and now I want a colab.
Same. I saw this notification while watching this morning's Bad Gear episode
@@Positive_Tea Nice!
Same! 😂
Bad Gear: Andrew's 50,000$ modular synthesizer

Bro that track was so fire. I thought analog synths were more for like experimental stuff, but that was some sick bass house!!!
The video gets the creative juices flowing for what a person can do with the tools one already has but hasn’t entirely explored. Wave shapers, DFAM, various retro drum machines, noise, envelopes, distortion, fx, etc!
oh my god you need to release that song you made with it
thats like one of the craziest bass house songs I've ever heard
Thank you! Working on it! Wanna put a call out for rappers to do verses 😁
connor price?
I wanna dance to that beat so bad
Harry Mack
I feel like this would be a perfect synth for Mick Gordon.
Mr. Huang - I'm new to ur chan. Impressed! Best xplainer of kew gear that I have witnessed in quite awhile. Oh yeah, I'm picking up a yellow P-23 ;)
Love the colour scheme and the new knobs!
Sounds amazing, looks awesome! Congrats on the Special Edition!
Thank you!!

The yellow one is gorgeous!
Top notch editing, sounds and vibes, great vid !! 😎
I can't be the only one that immediately sampled that bass
Perfect timing! Was just looking at this
Only Andrew Huang can make a video on a synth he's covered before and still make it just as engaging.
Those effects are really something else! Very inspiring!
I love the mix of futuristic and industrial. so cool looking
You just made an absolute banger as a happy little accident in the middle of a gear review episode, I love it!
your production value never ceases to amaze me man!
Flume uses it, too. Just take a listen to his amazing track „Things don’t always Go the way you plan 1.2“.

I'm glad Weird Gear is back (even though the brief intro theme is gone) just to see more of these interesting and strange gear for music.
I ordered one while I was watching, thank you Andrew Huang, Soma, and Perfect Circut
I know you will have a great time exploring it!!
Can't wait to see SOMA Terra in your hands, revolutionary instrument.
weird gear is by far some of my favorite content you make. one great recommendation for more is the Bastl SoftPop SP2 btw! 10/10 weirdness.

Best Pulsar demo on TH-cam
This looks delightful. Tremendous demo of the unit once again! Hell yeah
This is the drum machine I've been looking for. ❤
Ayyyy hype to see a new Weird Gear!

You make a lot a lot of dope music, but that beat around the 5:45 mark may have been the dopest yet.
i’d love to see a video like this about the erica synths + sonic potions LXR-02. really neat drum machine but there’s not a ton online digging into it
Hey Andrew! I just ordered the yellow one! Rock on!
i get that you absolutely HAD to show off the quantizing feature but the "sloppy" playing at 9:00 does have a really nice little groove to it lol
Never expected seeing Blush Response pulsar patch on this channel.
