@@kookycoconut Crouch downwind away from water. Let Mate take a hit and crouch again you get a double bonus that way (NPC's take less damage and heal faster so just let them take a hit)
Tips on Cattle Ranch: The first time you go, just go as quick as possible, kill a calf at the back of the herd, eat quickly, then leave. The second time: There will mostlikely be no extra security, just eat your most recent kill, but if it's not enough, hunt another calf. The third time: There will be those large, red inflatables, so those will try to scare you. The fourth time: If you killed a calf last time, there will be red flags tied to the fences, they are put there to scare you aswell. The fifth time: If you killed a calf last time, this will be a very hard one. Try to just get in, hunt, and get out, the maximum time for being in the Cattle Ranch area is about 5 minutes, It's much easier for you or your partner wolf to die. Sixth time: My mate died at this point so I will not be returning in this generation.
*episode spoiler included* I’m only 17 mins in and I typically wait to the end to comment if I do comment, but man I must say it’s really saddening losing two pups within seconds like that.
It's a bit too early to say what Petra will decide to do, apart from looking for her mate again! Depending on how the litter goes, if she is able to find Charon I could see it going either way, with the two deciding to remain in Lost River, or head back to Yellowstone.
I'm early wooow, Quick question though, did Loki go off on his own, or did you press a button to have him go? And was he marking territory and or huntinig?!
Some mates will be productive and mark territory and sometimes hunt I think. My current mate will go mark weak hexes sometimes and another mate I used to have would howl and alert me of herds (On the compass it popped up with a yellow howl mark, indicating that they used their secondary howl to get the player’s attention). It depends really on the personality I think, which is cool
@@WolfnadoI’ve noticed that too! I even had a couple of mates would mark territory and go off to find herds to hunt. I’ll admit I didn’t realize for the longest that sometimes when your mate howled they’re calling you.
@@toniodee7814 Yeah, I was SUPER surprised they did that. I followed my mate's call and he was waiting at a herd of elk. It's nice that the NPCs are programmed so well to the point they feel sorta real lol
Loki did indeed head off on his own! There's no real way to tell your mates to go out on their own, but depending on personality and needs they can decide to on their own. You can always call them back to you, and if you're out and about together, woofing will send them home. But they do also howl to you sometimes! I think our various mates have only ever done that once or twice, but it can happen on occasion (once again personality dependent I expect). Definitely adds a ton of life to the NPCs!
@@Wolfnadosame thing happened to me the first time I answered a call, she was waiting a herd of elk. She even already knew which one she was going after. I was shocked and surprised. The NPCs are programmed nice I agree. I wish it was it was a way we could send them off to mark territory though. Also it would be nice if they adjusted to the mates AI to where the NPC to will bring back meat chunks to the den and even beavers, calfs, and fawns.

I love the implication that Loki is a wolf-dog, but I find it funny how Petra is just a oversized German Shepherd.
Fabulous
Lovely!
I love the beavers! Most players underestimate them but I personally have been saved a few times because of Beavers
Beavers are my nemesis

_Yeah_ that was definitely one of the rougher moments we've had in our playthroughs ;-; Poor Petra...
Yeah
One time I lost 3 pups all to coyotes at one time. I had one pup left. It sucked

I'm getting a feeling Loki is a high content wolfdog
Hi Jayplays! I love lost river!
I wish you all a merry Christmas!
Sixth comment! I love Petra, so I'm glad you made some more content with her in Lost River! Also, after this, what do you plan to do with Petra?

I hope they stay in lost river. It still has a lot to explore! I would also recommend not bringing your mate into the cattle ranch.
Merry Christmas everyone!
