I think a great mode to add is apart from single and multiplayer (tho it's technically single player) where you can play as a pup! Be raised and avoid predators while older wolves struggle to raise you And a future multiplayer mode could be awesome! Adult wolves trying to raise pups that are just messing with them would be so fun

I’m currently playing the Lost River DLC now with one of my pups, the biggest boi. This is the first time I’ve played modern Lost River and what do I think? Well, the town area in the south seems tempting, but the huge rock wall was making it very inconvenient to travel to, so once I moved my pups rather than move them to something like the clown den, I climbed the mountain and moved them to a den in the wilderness up there. Muuuch easier. I’m also abandoning the territory directly west of the town because again, inconvenient to get to and I had several unclaimed hexes due east. I also ended up with a mate who’s so extremely introverted that she won’t even eat if the food I give her is too close to the puppies and she’s lazy enough that I rarely saw her feed them herself lol. She’s not the worst but my first mate was definitely more ‘competent’. But I think the fact she’s 2 star got to the puppies genes because two of them run off far constantly and the third one heard my go home bark and sat there with a buffering circle for a couple seconds. Fun.
Ick 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬 I hate lazy mates - I also planned on doing the clown den but decided against it as it’s to close to the rival wolf home hex, so I’d be subject to more wolf attacks anyway. And THAT FUCKING LEDGE WAS THE DEATH OF ME😭😭😭😭😭😭 idk how I managed to keep 41 hexes up without losing them
I was so tempted to just jump off the rock ledge straight into town and break all my bones because of how annoying it is to get around lol. My previous mate had around the same personality as this one, except he was energetic rather than lazy, and boy did that make a difference ‘cause he was awesome and didn’t half-ass anything
My current mate is the bane of my existence. He’s a pretty wolf, but he’s run off randomly chasing rabbits twice, never joins in on hunts, and he only fed the pups at the start. He’s on eternally babysitting duty he’s so useless. The one time he decided to actually attack something was when he fully went for a whole ass BEAR. He did protect the pups from a wolf attack while I was desperately sprinting after a wayward pup, but that was his only good moment
Being someone who’s settled in the town area a few times, the rock wall is so irritating 😭 The things that keep me coming back though is the fact that I’ve rarely had to travel far for prey, there’s less lag (I have an old computer), and it’s just a cool area. And the dens in that area are so cool too, as unsettling as the clown den is.
@@nugget8967 I think what told me best how this lady would be is when I found her, she was with another wolf. I wagged at her (I liked her coloring and I wanted a smaller litter), no reaction. I decide to turn to her friend and engage with her. Then this idiot finally engages with me like *”Ex-cuse me, this mans is mine, sis”* 😂. I like loner wolves, but if I had to describe AI as rude, it would be this girl 🤦♀️ However, she engages in hunting and predator fights just fine. Her reaction time isn’t as fast as my more competent mate and usually during den raids with wolves/dogs, she lets me handle one attacker while she runs after a different one instead of both of us piling onto one of them. Though I would describe her predator reaction as a mixed bag. She only attacks when I do and even then it’s a 50/50 chance, and for some reason she likes wandering really close to them. It makes intimidation harder because intimidating predators works better if you’re further away from them. Every single time she will hang far on my left and be close enough to piss off the predator while I’m trying to just get it to gtfo. And she’s lazy enough that her default is to stay at the den when we come home. My old mate would follow me unless I told him not to, while she just wants to nap all the time lol. At least she isn’t such a piece of crap that she gets in the way and actively makes things way harder.
I remember playing a while back and this coyote (much like the stray dogs in your case) would not stop. attacking my den. Eventually (the 3rd time) I spent half the in game day, all my stamina, stalking the coyote before managing to kill it. 13 yro me had had enough
