It has become time worn and a bit out of character for Lois to ignore Clark and obsess over Superman, as seen with The Death Of Superman animated film they're going with the newer approach, which leads to better stronger dynamics.
When Janet says "right, the guy with the glasses", I really like that line for a couple reasons. 1) It shows how Janet, and presumably other people, focus on the glasses. That speaks to whether they work as a disguise. 2) Lois loves the guy with the glasses, not the guy who can lift mountains.
@@jamesrawlins735 Yessirrr! I want both to thrive, man. Henry Cavill needs more of that vintage Superman treatment!!! Both Tyler and Henry deserve love.

Whoever it was that suggested that they use the Max Fleischer suit is the MVP. It looks amazing. I’m getting serious Golden Age vibes from it. I’m gonna watch the cartoons when I get home 😃
The Max Fleischer Superman cartoons and the 90s Superman are still the best. The JSA cartoon was quite good but I didn’t pay much attention to them because they weren’t focused only on Superman. I’m just itching for a new Superman cartoon with the same art style and feeling like the Fleischer or the 90s version.
Yeah, that was a great choice. Any of the "classic" logos (except maybe the really early triangular ones) could have worked, just to get a feel that this scene was in flashback. But the black background really sets this one apart.
The evasion from trying to be labeled as explicitly American is well executed. It's not just in line with more modern comic incarnations, it characterizes Superman as more of a man serving the people's interests instead of any nation's. He's a hero, not some Blackwater mercenary with superpowers.
I like to think that while Superman is universal, Clark Kent the Kansas farmboy has deeply American characteristics and maybe patriotism, in that "new deal Democrat/Eisenhower Republican" way. No need for a flag on the property, but just by the way he carries himself and working for the fourth estate
@@utubrGaming Maybe, but I think the version we see in this clip shows us a Superman who has traveled all over the world before establishing himself as a reporter and as Superman. The graphic novel Superman: Birthright had him travel the world and gain a better appreciation of human life; during this time he also learns about honnoring one's ancestors from an African human rights activist amid tribal conflicts, wearing symbolic clothing, and fighting for human rights. In any case, I like the idea of Superman being inspired by the good in humanity rather than by a specific American political ideology.
0:45 Yeah, a lot of people forget that Superman is actually really smart. Seriously, he has an eidetic memory and genius-level intellect. How come I feel like I'm the only one that knows that?
@Rōnin forgot or biased towards batman? Remember in the justice league cartoon where he tells superman to get over being controlled by darkseid and he's portrayed as being absolutely right? Batman telling others to get over something is pure hypocrisy.
I'll never get tired of watching this. I love the end where Superman has an obvious inner monologue of, "Keep your cool, keep, your cool." It's so perfect.
One of the best Superman scenes ever filmed. The exchange between Lois and her producer, and Tyler's perfect subtle reactions... it's funny, it's romantic, it's smart. It's wonderful.
Can we appreciate the fact that this Lois was in love with Clark at the same time he fell in love with her, and the fact that she has no cliché fascination whatsoever about Superman, and the fact that Clark told her the truth in a short period of time?(I'm assuming from this episode flashbacks). The show creators said they wanted to start from scratch and make their own story using the actors from the CW's Arrowverse/Supergirl show, but these aren't the same Clark Kent and Lois Lane. It's a completely different multiverse story and any incidental characters popping in from other CW shows are confirmed to exist in only THIS universe. Bottom line: Superman & Lois is its own thing.

Superman is a real humanitarian worldwide. In this episode he spoke Cantonese. A few episodes before this one, he spoke Spanish. I love this character!
This is an interesting take on the story; usually, Lois is _at least_ a little flirtateous with Superman, even if she and Clark are "collogues with chemistry". Here, she flat out _rejects_ Mr. Perfect and Goes for thee Sweet "geek". I may not think the actors look the part, but I *seriously like this version* of the Clark/Lois story. Second favorite after the "Frienemies to Friends to End-game" of _Smallville._
The show was developed more like an HBO Max show, but it airs on the CW... and the two lead characters were spun off from Supergirl show, which started on CBS then moved to the CW... so it's all relative
@@MedalionDS9 that's not true. HBOMax has no affiliation with superman and lois. at least not until their alleged ongoing co-finance deal for season 2 kicks in or not. this is all CW.
@@Animagladius Clark's debut appearance on Supergirl was the only decent cameo he had before he was made into a walking plot device dedicated to kissing Kara's ego and acting useless so Supergirl could look better. The CW did not treat Superman well until this show. There clearly was something going on behind the scenes for Superman and Lois to be made this well. Personally, I think a Superman fan/producer baited the CW boss with a bet that a Superhero show made for fans would destroy their other propaganda sh*t in the ratings including Batwoman and Supergirl and the boss fell for it and gave the go-ahead. I honestly don't understand after years of the CW treating Superman like crap, they then turn around and give us a quality, well-written, well-cast, Superman show made for the fans... this 180 baffles me, though I'm not complaining.

1:05 - 1:22 I love the fact that he doesn't say the american way here because it illustrates that America isn't the moral compass that other countries and people should strive to be like, that ideal example is Superman and his humanity that he exhibits. America isn't perfect and has made plenty of mistakes itself throughout the years and I love that Superman was eventually represented to inspire people everywhere not just in the USA, which is why in the comics he eventually started saying that he stood for truth, justice and the humane way since he wanted to help bring peace to everywhere not just in America. If that was the case he would never leave the United States to help in other countries, but he does to show that no matter where you come from or what race you are, we can and should try to help each other out to bring peace and some more unity in the world. Such a small moment that has more impact than you think since Superman is meant to represent the best of humanity even though he's an alien, not just the American people.
The US does have many problems like any other country. But Superman is an American made character created by two American young men of Jewish descent. While Jews were being persecuted in other parts of the world at the time of Superman’s creation, these two guys enjoyed the freedom and opportunity in America to conceive, create and popularize such a unique and special character that is now known throughout the world for largely being a beloved and powerful symbol of good in the world despite not being from this world. Only in America!
@@db4a superman stands for so much more. He stands for good in people and making him less American and more human Allows him to be a brighter symbol across the world. Just because cultures have characters doesnt mean others can't use them. You see spices out of Asia. Superman is global

This was so awesome to see this little show cleaning up a few things about the Superman we know and love. They showed Lois trying to trick him into revealing that because he grew up in America, that made him an American superhero. But Superman has always protected people around the world. So proclaiming he was all about the American way was a little one sided. Good job show. 👍
I was cautiously optimistic about Hoechlin when he first appeared on Supergirl. There was a scene later in the episode where he saved a family from Corben's drone attack, then turned and gave the kid a little smile and wink before taking off. That one bit told me that he could be one of the best to ever wear the suit and Superman and Lois has only reinforced that belief.
To be fair he was raised as Clark, He was never raised as Superman. Similar to how Batman is the real personality and Bruce Wayne is the disguise. Clark Kent is the real pet and Superman is the disguise.
1:05 To all those pressed about Superman's new motto, "Truth, Justice, and a Better Tomorrow." Now wasn't the time to change it. That passed way before now.
One small detail I love about this scene, is that after they cut the interview everyone leaves to go talk to someone or do something and then you see Superman by himself. He looks alone. That’s the thing that gets missed about Superman. Is that he always asks and makes sure if everyone is ok but no one stops and asks if he is. Also Clark was right about having to learn languages he just processes the information faster and learns them quicker, he can still mispronounce them but not very often
Most best Lois Lane ever.. I like 'em all yet this actress has everything: Dark sultry sly sexiness healthy slender fit physique, integrity, highly intelligent very well educated professional journalist and investigator, things that would appeal to a guy like Clark Kent..
Superman is the best superhero for a lot of reasons but this shows how he's hella relatable as well. He's a dork trying his best and a pretty girl liking him still makes his heart flutter.
I thought Tyler would have been a cringe Superman but after giving the show a shot I couldn't be more wrong. Dude was a perfect fit and embody it so well.
Whoever wrote this movie is an incredible writer. I couldn't have imagined this series would be this Good! Everything including the way the actors screen play is just so wonderful!
I’ve been trying to figure out why I love this scene and this episode so much. I love that it flips what we’ve seen in other Superman adaptations - Lois loves Clark first and doesn’t care about Superman. But I think there is something deeper here - they just love each other! So many shows/rom coms have the couples fight and have misunderstandings before they reconcile, but don’t address the fact that they could treat each other that way in the first place. In this episode, we just see that they are truly in love, that they are a team - no contrived tension. Their deep connection is enough. Also, perhaps Superman is smiling so much because he’s seeing Lois at the top of her game while she’s interviewing him and he’s like “YEAH THATS MY LADY!!”
I love this show.I watched lois and clark.I watched smallville. This is the best representation of their love dynamic.true,it's updated but this story deserves nothing less.
I’m glad I took a chance and started watching the show and I’m glad I was wrong about it it’s a very very good show. The only issue I had with this episode at the end superman which they don’t give enough credit for is extremely smart he knows that his brother wants to turn him evil. And if that happens most likely the end result is going to be his family getting killed anyway. In the last two episodes he had and hard decisions to make Sam warned him what would happen and then this episode choose between his family dying right there or going with his brother. But I have faith in the end he’ll somehow snap out of this
Don't assume too soon, what if he has something up his sleeve that hasn't been revealed yet, maybe something his mother has told him or something else. The only loop hole that's there in this show is the fact that his non kryptonian suit(that his mother made) didn't burn.
@@souviksikdar1864 i’ve already thought of that he might be able to resist what his brothers doing to him and for them to believe that he’s on their side. As far as his suit goes I know they gave Kara material that he was wrapped in his ship and that’s what she made her Cape out of so maybe she use some of that material to make Clarks suit out of Who knows
Here's the thing, we don't actually know if Superman has turned evil. All we see Superman getting zapped with some sort of ray which I assume is the Eradicator at Edge's Fortress before his eyes light up red with an angry expression, with Lois's voice-over calling Henry Irons for backup suggesting she thinks he might have been turned. There is nothing in the promo that actually suggests Superman going evil apart from one menacing shot. But it's not like we haven't seen angry Superman before in the show.

I didn't notice it back when the episode aired, but how Janet accepts that Lois could love Clark is telling.

There clearly was something going on behind the scenes for Superman and Lois to be made this well. I love the fact that he doesn't say the american way here because it illustrates that America isn't the moral compass that other countries and people should strive to be like, that ideal example is Superman and his humanity that he exhibits.
That is a great point. Lots of detail in the scene
THIS is Superman.
