Success is in sight! Why does the China Nepal Railway make India so angry?

  • This photo of "Nepalese children flying across the river to go to school" has touched countless people. Nepal is located in the Himalayas, and backward transportation has become the biggest obstacle to the country's economic development. Nepalese Prime Minister Sharma Oli once said in his speech: "Every Nepalese should have such a dream in his lifetime - to be able to travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara by train." In fact, as early as 1973, the King of Nepal expressed his desire to further strengthen relations with China during his visit to China.
President Mao responded that China would build the Qinghai-Tibet Railway to Lhasa, which would eventually lead to Kathmandu. However, due to various factors such as technology, financial resources and the international situation, the China-Nepal Railway did not immediately become a reality. After 33 years, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway was officially put into operation, ending the history of no railway in Tibet. At this time, the chief secretary of the Nepalese government was in Lhasa and witnessed the train leading to the plateau. He excitedly reported to Oli that China had made a decision to extend the Qinghai-Tibet Railway to Shigatse, which is only about 500 kilometers away from Gyirong County, which is adjacent to Nepal.
And he said: “Nepal should seize the opportunity and ask China to extend the railway to the border closer to Nepal.” In August 2022, the spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned that China and Nepal will once again build a trans-Himalayan three-dimensional interconnection network. In fact, at present, on the land border between China and Nepal, Chinese workers are speeding up the construction. Well, to challenge the Himalayas, can China complete the important task? Faced with all kinds of obstructions from India, what countermeasures has Nepal taken? OK, in today's video, I'll take you through a glimpse of this feat of engineering.

The Indo-Nepalese Impasse dates back to Imperial British Days. When India was granted Independence by the Brits in 1947, India assumed it had naturally inherited British Sphere of Influence in the region. India took it for granted it had filled up the power vacuum created by the departure of British. Unfortunately, Nepal was caught unprepared and gradually Nepalese leaders began to fall prey to the greed of bribery offered by the Indian Government. Thanks to Chinese Government offer of opening up the Himalayas which had been accepted as a natural boundary but as the Chinese technology has begun to flourish, we are witnessing a new phenomena of trans-Himalayan commerce and trade becoming a reality. We welcome our neighbours into Nepal and we receive our redemption from them. I personally am hoping to be one of the first passengers in the Kathmandu-Lhasa train service.

@@ahamasmiarinm 1967? A fabricated tale conjured by Indian newspapers? Apart from Indian media and Indian-authored Wiki pages, no other country's media has documented such events. Even the figures presented in the Indian media fluctuate every year. India claims to have killed 400 Chinese soldiers in 1967, yet the total number of Chinese border guards stationed there was less than 50. Furthermore, the number of Indian soldiers captured by China far surpasses the alleged figures. It seems that India excels in fabricating stories but fails to provide any evidence. Is that why India has open borders with Nepal, to control its economy? meanwhile china has no such concept with nepal? Being a landlock country is not India's fault yet it helps Nepal with its trade among many things.
All India has asked from nepal in return is not to compromise its security. Problem is not with development but with the nefarious plans the chinese bring with them. It is not an alien concept because this is china's MO.

@@drmahaCroc9164other than arguing about ownership of Tibet dated centuries back, the more apparent view is that modern China indeed liberated Tibet from serfdom imposed by Dalai Lama and the centuries of caste system. Even GDP of Tibet grew by leaps and bounds.
India would want to claim Tibet as its own, much as China did. But one would doubt the quality of life of Tibetans under Indian rule instead, given that caste system is still prevalent this day and age, as much as the development in India is not as impressive.

Just a quick history lesson, India never laid any claims to Nepal much less Tibet. Saying 'they would want to' is your imagination and is as good as nothing. Stick to facts rather than stories.
Fact is that china took over tibet by force and did not give it a choice, much like whats happening with taiwan now. If India really wanted to "take over" as you say then countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan and Myanmar wouldn't exist today.

AGAIN this might have been deliberately done by the British to cause disharmony between the 2 neighbours and to prevent India and China combined threats to colonialist.

I really doubt if you are a Bharatiya and not some CCP bot, and if you are really a Bharatiya, you are a very very ignorant one.
Nepal has been in bed with CCP/communists for almost half a century, if not more. Communist Naxal governments didn't form out of thin air, did they? I don't see how and why Baharat should facilitate the increase of its own problems. Nepal has long been an operational ground for the porki isi, but Nepal has always been indifferent towards it.
As a matter of fact, Bharat has been enough gracious and magnanimous to allow Nepal trade routes in spite of Nepal's nefarious anti-Bharat activities. Do even one tenth of it with CCP and Nepal would know.
One of Nepal's ex PM famously told that we have two neighbours. The one on the North doesn't bark but bites. The one on the South only barks but doesn't bite. However, I guess the times have changed and Nepal should be really cautious.
I don't think Baharat is bothered with this rail. Nepal can only do some mischiefs, and Bharat is pretty much used to it.

They found large uranium deposit in Nepal and Nepal has large numbers of water resources thus hydropower is expected to produce around 83000 MW while 43000MW is economically feasible as of now . Currently only 2,191 MW is generateed. China is huge investor in hydro power in the country and India further antagonizes Nepal by restrricting selling of electricity from chinese invested dam to other countries from India. As, china moves to more sustainable sources and electricity demand grows most of the electricity generated by chinese invested projects maybe exported to the country. Although there are technical challenges ,high distance for transmisssion and construction problems. During Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s visit to China, the two countries agreed to launch the construction of the Jilong/Kerung-Rasuwagadhi-Chilime 220 kV transmission line at an early date, according to a statement issued after talks between Prime Minister Dahal and his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang. It would be the first-ever cross-border power line between the two countries. During the meeting of the representatives of the NEA and the State Grid Corporation of China in February, the Chinese side had called for reducing the capacity of the power line to 220kV. Nepal is building a 220kV substation at Chilime Hub, about 16km inward from the border point while China is also distributing power in its bordering areas with a 220kV line. The Chinese side wanted to build a low capacity power line first so that the project could be developed as early as possible. Even though Nepal agreed to this proposal, a high-capacity transmission line will likely be required for large-scale trading of power in the future, which is why there has been discussion on constructing multi circuit transmission pylons along the alignment of the 220KV line so that the same pylons can be used to upgrade the capacity of the transmission line. While India is further sabotaging Chinese investments by restricting the approval of new routes to the new airport from its airspace.

Laos is a land locked country like Nepal. With the recent railway connection between Laos and China, it has not only improved its GDP but had changed the status of land locked to land linked. Laos China railway have greatly enhanced its GDP rather than debt trap which is nothing just a pretext concocted by some envious countries. Rail link between China and Nepal does not only improve its trade volume between the two super powers but help greatly reduced Nepalese dependency to India so as to help free from the devastating claws of India.
