Best of luck to any buyers in the USA, i recently ordered a guitar from Thomann in Bavaria and living in the UK, they have been arriving in about 5 days, but not this time. Even though it was showing as instock, after 10 days it was still not showing as dispatched, my emails asking what the problem was were not replied to, thankfully they had not taken any payment from my paypal account so i cancelled it. Others in the UK are reporting similar issues, i just hope the USA division treats customers with a better level of service.🤔
Thomann is a bit like this in Germany too. They changed quite a lot. Maybe they grew too fast or they concentrate on the US market now. I gave up ordering from them.
Tried to order 2 guitar w case's. Shipping cost as much as the instrument. Order was 350.usa, shipping was 150. Not a chance in hell. Shittin on customers. My first experience was total shit. 2 guitars, free shipping! BS.
I checked a few days ago on the Thomann site and shipping to the USA was $72.00 now and went down when adding another item. What? I didn't place a order just curios what it was now. I have not ordered from Thomann since May of 2020 when it all went to crap. Back before that you could get 3 shipped on DHL got around $35.00. That last order got stuck in Frankfurt waiting for a air freight slot and took 6 weeks to arrive. The box looked like a bag by the time it got here. Dragging the "bag" into the house I actually had some small items fall out! Thomann kicked DHL out and that was the start of the shipping disaster. I heard DHL had to go to ocean containers after they lost access to cheap air freight. They probably have that back now but Thomann doesn't use DHL.
Oh great, I never ordered from them because I was worried about the shipping from Europe but now I can order here, thanks guy you just cost me money cause now I have to buy something :P
Ordered te-flt 90 cost an extra $80 cdn. but arrived in perfect condition with no duty or extra taxes. Sub $290 cdn total and got here faster than a similar order from Quebec.
Interesting that Thomann and HB will now almost literally be in Paul Reed Smith's back yard in Maryland. Serving notice to Gibson/Epiphone and Fender's 'MIM' and Squier brands: I predict by next year HB will be displacing some legacy brands as America's new favorite price-point guitars. Saying this as a big Epi fan, owning and loving several of them, as well as a couple sweet Squiers. Harley Benton now moves to the head of my shopping list for a birthday present to myself next Spring. SC450 with P90s? Edit- Jan '23 I heard/read they're shipping from Connecticut now. Btw I priced their G212 cab and it's a good deal with or without Celestions but they wanted another $97 to ship it. No sale because of that. I bet it's happened more than a few times besides me. Oh well, I'm cheap.
@@chasbee Really. If you can't beat 'em straight-up, sue 'em. If they're gonna charge so much they should pay their workers better instead of their lawyers. Sad that Fender has gotten more like Gibson in that way. Anyway I'll be looking at Harley Benton's LP clone, I think it's the SB-450 or 550?
maybe having competition will make everyone step up their game. i'd like to see good quality across the board and the diff in brands is more about color, style, specific specs.
@@lurklingX Absolutely agree. I hope a rising tide lifts all ships. I know an HB is not a Gibson per se but all too often, especially considering the price difference, well, blah blah blah it's all been said. Big G and Big F, take note.
To be honest, although HB guitars are pretty decent, there are already a lot of decent budget guitars available in the US, which you can't get hold of in Europe, which offer the same benefits as Harley Davidso - erm, I mean Harley Bentons. So whilst it initially might attract some interest, at some point it'll become clear to people in the US that they could have lived without them.
I guess this is a nice development. It should be noted ordering a guitar from Germany to me in NY has always been hassle free and only taken 2-3 days .The net price is just about the same as ReverbI does not collect taxes. Also Thomann's communication process is much better than Reverb. At some point I'll give Reverb a try and see how it goes.
I guess it's worth it when there's risk of causing weird conflicts in their existing system, or having to put in weird options that customers both need to be aware of and that shouldn't be selectable outside the US
Hi: On Reverb, it says that the "OFFICIAL US STORE" is in New Hartford, CT. Is this true? And, I live a few minutes from New Hartford. So, could I go to your "Official Store" there and BUY a guitar????
The new Harley Bentons are night and day difference compared to the older models. They had tuning instabilities, poor built and sound quality, fretting issues, etc. But not anymore with the new ones. This summer I got myself a Harley Benton Tele TE-20, and it literally cost me 79 bucks. I saw the price while scrolling through thomann and I had to double check to make sure that I wasn’t tripping. I could’ve believe the price, so I was very skeptical, despite that I decided to order one just for fun to see how “bad” it is. And boy let me tell you how much I underestimated that guitar. The tuning pegs are nice and smooth, the neck shape and finish is perfect, and it’s literally so lightweight. The only downside are the pickups but they aren’t that bad, they sound alright. But for an 80 dollar guitar, that is brand new, I couldn’t be more happy with it. (FYI: I didn’t even buy it b-stock, I paid full price). So my conclusion is that I can’t recommend it enough. My next guitar will be a DC Junior FAT.
I bought a TE-20 well over a year ago and it was practically flawless ! All I had to do was a setup, and clean the frets up (they were a little gritty). Like you said, the bridge, tuners, nut, everything was just as good as you can find on a $1000.00 Tele !
@@glennjames7107 literally. It plays better than a squier affinity. I can’t believe you could buy a guitar for this cheap. I bought my first electric guitar back in 2012. It was a crappy Epiphone SG Special ii. I remember paying 200 bucks for it back then, and it had tuning problems, the tuning pegs were horrible, so was the nut, and the fret job wasn’t that great, even after a setup it would buzz and generally sound bad. The pickups were actually nice though, and so were the electronics (except the input jack was weakly soldered). It was also quite lightweight. To be fair however, the TE-20 had the same pros the SG had but without the cons (and it’s much lighter than the SG). Best purchase I’ve ever made. I’m never selling it. 2022 is the perfect year to start playing guitar. You get really affordable options with amazing build quality and really good sound.
I talked to Thomann 2 or 3 years ago about doing that and they acted like that was a crazy idea that would never happen. Must have changed their mind when USA sales went away.
If this keeps up, they are going to either give GC and SW a run for the money, or raise their prices to match them.. I'm banking on them raising prices.. Better buy now if you want one!!
Plenty of very good sub-$400 guitars available. So good IMO, that I'm selling many of my more expensive guitars and buying sub-$400 guitars. Fit, finish, playability, just minor setup and intonation, better than I expected at this price. I thought I may want to replace tuners, pickups, trems/bridges, etc., but haven't seen the need. Now I just need to see how these hold-up in regular use over time. So far, so good.
They might have gotten away with selling these knockoffs in Europe but I have to believe that if they are setting up shop in the US with these instruments, Gibson is going to sue the shite out of them.
Gibson European reverb shop started with a only couple of countries. They seem to add a couple more each year. Start small, iron out the teething troubles, expand.
I really hope Gibson/PRS/ESP go after them for trademark infringement and counterfeiting, really poor quality guitars and terrible company when it comes to trying to get your money back.
shipping from Thomann for me is about $73, if I bought a dc-580 vintage, it would be $195 after shipping. If I bought the same guitar from the new reverb store, it would cost $179. I think they could probably knock $20 off the reverb prices, but the current price(at least for that model) isn't too bad.

I ordered my first HB last week (a TE-52) and am eagerly awaiting its arrival.
I bought one about 8 months ago. The neck is great (flatter radius) and I enjoy the bridge pickup. Fun to play !
I bought their black guard Tele clone about a year ago, it's a pretty amazing guitar for the price.
It would be nice if they had the CST-24T double cut models ( PRS copy) in stock. That's what I'm interested in.
Reverb is bait n switch cat fishers! Overpriced plus shipping is ridiculous.🤐🍻
That's about 20 miles from my house!!!!!! Is it just a warehouse, a showroom, both !?
Pretty sure it's a warehouse. I dare you to show up there -- take a video so we can watch them kick you to the curb, lol.
THIS IS AMAZING! This was the only reason I didn't now with a US location my next guitar will be a HB

Considering the DC-Junior. Would prefer 2 soap bars and LP knobs/wiring, but p-90s are cool!

Oops. I meant Thomann does not collect taxes.
None of the Bentons I have been thinking of buying are for sale on there. Will just keep waiting or do without.
It is kind of odd that they would go through a third party vendor (Reverb) and pay a seller fee for each listing.

Paused at 1 minute in to check Ireland's time zone... You're 5 hours ahead of me! You're in THE FUTURE!!!
Don't bother the future-man. Our ways are quaint to him...
Guitars?in the USA? I don't see that working
Someday I will have a Harley Benton TE-40 TBK Deluxe Series Translucent Black! 👍
IMO Harley Benton are good enough (but not hi-end) to go global. Value for money rules these days, and HB's are GREAT value.
No Single-cut Jr Copy, but I’ll keep my eyes-open. I haven’t even had a chance to play a Harley Benton yet.

Awwww 😕, I thought HB had gone up market and were building in the US, a bit like Chapman have done with the English made guitars
If you look on both sites it the price has increased on the new one compared to original site.
Errra... how come Slash shook his head nooo when you called for Subs? Maybe Slash deserves a lower shelf.
INteresting, but zero lefties on the site. Ba Humbug.
Not to be so politically correct. But it's not pronounced Mary-land. It's sounds more like saying Maraland. All one word.

Look closely at the HB shapes. They alter the lines just enough to be outside the trademark. Especially noticeable on the LP.
on the other hand, who HASN'T been sued by Gibson? 😂
i rather buy from germany
