Orlando Canizales - Is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1984 to 1999. He held the IBF Bantamweight title between July 1988 and December 1994. He is the younger brother of fellow Bantamweight world champion Gaby Canizales. Both brothers obtained the title of world boxing champion at the same age and weight. Orlando tied the division record for consecutive title defences at 15 set by Manuel Ortiz. Canizales was an excellent fighter who used creative angles and shifts to confuse his opponents. He retired with a professional record of 50-5-1 (37 KO's) and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame on July 14, 2009.

Loma took canizales style but if they were both to fight against eachother at their prime. Canizales would beat him easily.
@@sonnyvernis8675 Lomachenko is the naturally bigger fighter of the 2. Weight classes exist for a reason and despite Canizales having tremendous talent, he didn’t do so well when he moved up to Super Bantam and Featherweight.

I'm absolutely amazed that nobody does this anymore. People can say Lomachenko does but nowhere near this perfectly. This is art.
Canizales was magnificent. He's the only fighter I've ever seen that could circle away from a southpaw's power hand as easily as orthodox. Modern boxers don't even try because they've never been taught footwork.
Exactly fam or they don’t take the time to learn on they own I box too and I always take time out my day to learn these important things
And in my case, many boxers focus on punching form and head movement instead of footwork. As a 202 pound guy with natural power, proper footwork and form can x2.5 what's already there.
Thus I became a student.

fluidity.....smooth, one of my favorite fighters of all time!!
Very skilled and underated, yet another very good highlight from you.
At the 0:33, 1:32 and 2:18 marks we can see an amazing body movement that nobody does in today's boxing.
It's absolutely mind blowing that nobody is teaching/practicing the "sidestep" in order to plant their feet for a hook as done here by Canizales. Why is that?
The opponents has two options when you do that, he/she can follow your movement by coming towards you, which leaves them at a disadvantage because they were not planning it as you were, so you're a train of thought ahead of them - meaning they are not acting on thought but rather instinct - or they can stay/retreat from it which most won't do since it's not the "normal" thing to do under the circumstances. At which point you have the total upper hand. If the opening arises you throw a hook, if it doesn't, you formulate your next move while defending yourself. Why is this a lost art?
Please do correct me if I'm wrong because I would love to see an up and comer moving this way. I just can't say I have.

I don't think so, Loma is definitely faster but Orlando hits harder.
But better than Lomachenko and with power shots. I didn't believe the OG's and older boxers at first when they told us they've see Lomachenko style before and someone else did it better with more power. Then I seen Orlando Canizales and fully believe that these OG's weren't bs'ing and he really was better than Loma.
Man that's what the OG's tell me and I didn't believe it at first but after I seen him I realize that they're actually right and he had power that Loma doesn't have as well from those pivot shots.

My gawd, never heard of this boxer, and I scour the historical records looking for the hidden gems. This man had some very slick movement! I'll never understand why they call them technical boxers when it's just being smart. Unless you're someone like Erislandy Lara or Whitaker...which, well, looked more like a guy on a scooter.
2:17 is what made me pay very close attention and become a student of footwork. That was beyond boxing when I saw this.

Awesome footwork, and nice video. Where do you find the music for your videos? Or what is the Genre of that type of music that has an old school jazzy, hip hop type of feel to it? I noticed that I like the majority of the music you include in your videos and would like to find more.
To be honest I don't know what that specific genre is called but I use a lot of trip hop in my videos. Mainly it's either hip hop, trip hop or dramatic music. I'd recommend listening to Monomone or Neroche to get you started.

I loved watching Orlando fight. He was a master, and a hell of a puncher too. That was back when there were great fights to watch without having to sell your house to watch them.
People think Loma is something they've never seen before I always tell people you must be a new boxing fan because Canizales has been there done that!
No unifications, no more weight classes. Only defends against mediocre boxers from the IBF, that's why nobody remenbers this man sadly.

Canizales is the most beautiful boxer I've seen. He is the best for me because he just boxes. The others boxe a little, hold their opponent too often, step back too often.
I think success leans towards boxers who are in total control of their range. Outside you're cool, once in you're down.

Yes Sergio did.I was there and can recall the silence of the Laredo crowd as Reyes support from Ft. Worth and Austin counted every round won that day..
Reyes did beat him but Canizales was past his peak. He actually moved up in weight right after that fight and was never quite the same.
