Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun is a real-time strategy video game developed by Westwood Studios and released in 1999. The main storyline follows the second major war between the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) of the United Nations, and the global terrorist organization known as the Brotherhood of Nod. The story takes place 30 years after the GDI had won the First Tiberium War in Command & Conquer.

Sounds so much like a Terminator theme. Coincidentally, Michael Biehn, who plays as McNeil here, starred as Kyle Reese in the Terminator.
I had this thought exactly when just listening to Terminator soundtrack. Klepacki must have been influenced greatly. Well, terminator is partially about post-apocalyptic warfare anyway. How else would it sound?

God the atmosphere so thick. They're just pissing away this IP. We need a Tiberium animated series a la Castlevania or even live action.

The IP is in cold dead hands already. Forget about it, we need someone to take the good ideas and atmosphere and make something new and improved from it. Aren't you tired of remakes and adaptions?

@@tomorbataar5922 I'm with you. Let's take all the good of past games, ESPECIALLY the rich and thick atmosphere, and move it forward. But big studios won't do it because they're too busy worrying about menial things. Kinda tragic honestly. The Golden age was 1991-2014, and boy were those some GOOD years for gaming.
Out of all the remakes and remasters I'd love to see a remastered TS and FS, these 2 were the best of C&C

Honestly Tiberian Sun's vision of ecological collapse as a post-apocalypse, and how the rich nations of the world band together against the poor to control the last livable areas of the world is way more hitting today than then. We don't even need tiberium to go where we're going, fam.

@@DisasterRasta that makes even less sense, considering it's big oil trying to stop nuclear power. Also there are plenty of places render uninhabitable by crude oil waste. Some stuff in there is also carcinogenic in its own right.

This song perfectly describes the setting of C&C Tiberian sun perfectly. A dark and terrible future ravaged by an alien mineral and war, the big metal thumps giving you the feeling of GDI's mechs walking along a desolate wasteland.

I remember buying the "Fire Power" compilation of this game back in 2002-2003 at a bargain bin in Comp USA. It included CnC: Tiberium Sun, Firestorm, and this kickass soundtrack. Probably one of the best purchase decisions I have made in my life

Mostly because they are the default songs that play first every mission.

This is the only Tiberian Sun track I actually remember. Going through everything else and it's like hearing it for the first time.
Possibly because TIberian Sun treats its soundtrack as a Playlist. This is the first Track, so usually it is the first one that is played unless a different track is scripted for a mission. So we've heard this one significantly more often than the others.

A bop. Tiberian Sun really captured the depressing feel of an apocalyptic, ecologically ravaged world really well. Even more than its sequels.

@@Vxbxzz Gotta love the desert sandstorm asthetic of this game though, the landscape pallete really made me remember this one along with the cool lightning and glowing tiberium. The tracks are also different, more synth electronic vibe.
@@Vxbxzz that’s not true in the early days of gaming it was reallllyyy hard to make gritty games. There was an era of “Grimmdark” games that matches up with the same movement in the comic book world. That grimmdark era is mainly over. If you want grim/dark games them support them. Many people found them to be just too edgy and depressing, and to be fair a lot of grim dark is. So also support gooood grimdark and not just any edgy game that looks like it’s from the 90’s
I always think of the opening of a mission when the GDI transport planes get shot down when I hear this song. I think it's either the 2nd or 3rd GDI mission.

You're correct, the GDI transports are taken down in Mission 2 (and also in the "Mission Failed" cutscene if you're somehow defeated). Mission 1 also has this same track playing as a lone infantryman is saved at the last minute from a cyborg via drop pod fire. Good times :...)
Had kind of a Silent Hill touch to it. That fog is humming in the beginning.

I wonder if they'll ever make RTS this atmospheric again, i feel like it's a lost art. Original War is the only other one that comes to mind with such powerful atmosphere.....

I've long since associated this song with GDI's mechanized walkers. You can't tell me the sound doesn't evoke that mental image of mechs taking the field.
I suppose when the remastered RA1 and Tiberian Dawn come out, that would make Tiberian Sun the oldest C&C game... unless they remaster that too. I guess they'll want something to work on :)
